Best Game Ever!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Only one word can be used to describe this game: EXTRAORDINARY! This game is an excellent choice for all fans of MARVEL comics of any age! This game has plenty of extras and unlockables to keep you glued to your seat for months! This is a big improvement in the latest MARVEL/ActiVision games such as the Fantastic Four Movie Game. The graphics for this game are breathtaking especially the cinematics played as you progress throughout the game. This awesome game allows you to play more than 20 characters in the MARVEL universe with a couple exclusive characters for different console/handhelds.
Marvel:Ultimate Alliance allows you to challenge the power of the new Masters of Evil led by Dr. Doom, by giving you the oportunity to make a team so great, that it will rock the foundations of the MARVEL universe forever! Also featured in this game, is over 17 unique locations, even including a great clasic, MURDERWORLD! As you progress, you can upgrade your fearsome foursome and give them new costumes, some even changing the character comepletely! Also new to the MARVEL games, is the brilliant decision making you are forced to do throughout the game, changing the MARVEL universe drastically!

Once again this is an excellent classic in the making for any fan of MARVEL comics no matter what your age may be!

A Perfect Superhero Game

Mark my words. This will be the superhero game all future superhero RPG games are compared against. There are elements that are a little less than stellar (the story could use some work, and it needs more characters), but who doesn't want to make a team consisting of Iron Man, Spider-Woman, Ghost Rider and Elektra? And let's not even mention the fact that each character sports four different costumes, each giving your character different powers.

Thor acts like Thor. Spider-Man plays like Spider-Man. Black Panther looks like Black Panther. Spider-Woman is exactly how you'd expect. And the villains kick much butt.

Lots of characters. A ton of abilities. Great graphics, and an easy-to-use interface. This is a must-have for any video game/comic book fan. If you haven't played it yet, you have no excuse.

Live Out Your Comic Book Fantasy!!!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance has really restored my interest in playing games.

It's like reading a comic and then you actually get to work out the comic mission as one of your favorite Marvel super heroes. Kinda of like being a kid again, when you would read a comic book and then play act the action. Well in this game, you actually get to do the action!

A big plus for this game is the easy mode, for us casual gamers! Also the HUD (Heads Up Display) that guides you along the game providing hints etc., on how to accomplish various tasks. There are some boss levels that require you to find hidden traps and to hit button combinations, that are displayed on screen, in order to defeat them, but it never got frustrating.

Ravensoft, the maker of Marvel, has worked out all the glitches of freezing that happened with X-Men Legends 2, which is another plus.

And even though I'm not into Marvel comics, I've always been a D.C. kid, I never felt out in the dark. Everything is explained and in the comic training missions (separate mini-games), you get the background and origins of each hero.

I also liked the fact that this game, along with X-Men Legends 2 and even Justice League Heroes, isn't just a fighting game like Mortal Combat, which can get repetitive, it's more along the lines of an RPG (Role Playing Game) with great action. And unlike Justice League Heroes, you can choose which characters (as long as they're unlocked) in any stage, except for the very beginning of the game, which is more of a training excercise than the actual beginning of the missions.

If I had to gripe about one thing, it's the mutant powers buttons. You can assign different powers to each button, but there's no description of the various powers unless you go to the Hero Management screen. Not good when you're in the middle of a fight, but that's a small problem and doesn't get in the way of game play.

All in all Marvel Ultimate Alliance is great fun and keeps you hooked until the end. I've finished very few games in my time either because they became boring, too hard, too frustrating or whatever, but this wasn't one of them. And that's saying a lot!

Ultimate Alliance could give you hours of fun

This game brings you action right after starting up... with great cinemas, strong villains and alternate missions for each superhero that are enough to keep you busy for a while. The story line is convincing and you need to meet many characters to bring new information useful during your adventure.
I recommend you to enhance your hero defense prior to playing their missions. Also, explore very well each corner to find upgrades for your hero. A last advise, when you have the chance to change your 4 characters, select them very wisely, and do not change them again, because your team points are set to Zero each time you change a hero.
Have fun with this 5 stars game.... :)

Best game ever with one minor flaw.

This game is awesome. The gameplay is like x-men legends and x-men legends 2 but a bit soupped up to support a more action style of combat with things like blocking and being able to pick up and use weapons as opposed to just picking up boulders and throwing them in xmen legends 2.

My only real complaint is that Dr. Doom does not become playable.

Another suggestion might be to change the choice of some of the "costumes" on the characters and have some more skimpy ones for female characters and joke costumes for the male ones. Nothing would be as amusing as having a team of g string clad chicks team up with some male characters in clown suits.

The game is great fun, but much better with two player.

BEST SUPERHERO GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best superhero game ever! You play over 20 superheros like Iron Man,Ghost Rider, etc. And the game last over two days at least. But this game is so awesome !!! You fight a whole lot of villians from the marvel universe. But the bad part is the Hulk is not even in the game. This part might be a spoiler but is shows him dead next to Dr.Doom and that sucks!! But this game is still AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Marvel "Mediocre" Alliance

This game is missing the element that made the first Baldur's Gate so good; the ability to create a character and take it with you from game to game.

Ultimate Alliance lets you "buy" upgrades for your characters, which is nice and fun. The problem is that you can't build a character up to a "level 10" and start the game over at level 1.

It may not sound like a problem but this game encourages team-work, so if you've built a team with 4 characters and decide you don't like one them you're in a lot of trouble. You have to start the game over and bring all 4 of your new characters back up to level 10 from level 1.

If you're half-way through the game when you decide you'd rather have Iceman than Spiderman on your team, you're out of luck. You can't take three characters you like with the abilities and upgrades you've worked hard on back to level 1, add Iceman, and quickly run all four back through all of the levels to improve Iceman and get his abilities caught up with the others.

Aloong those lines; there are at least 10 cool heroes in the game but your "team" only allows you to have four. While you can play with more than four heroes, you dilute their skills by doing so. Why? Because, again, you can't go back and play the same levels over again using upgraded and improved characters.

You have the same issue with costumes. The game allows you to pick up new costumes as you go along. The problem you run into is that you've - most likley - upgraded your original costume to a "level 10." Now, you've unlocked a new costume at level 1 but you don't want to use it becuase is so weak compared to the ugly old one you have on.

You don't have the option of going back a few levels to build up your new costume. Your only option is to continue playing in your old, boring level 10 costume, or spend your precious points, coins, etc. to upgrade your new costume.

It may not sound like a big deal but this game is not easy. Not a typical slash'em game where you walk through without any type of game plan or strategy. That is, of course, a good thing but if makes issues like your costume and ability upgrades a big deal.

The more special move upgrades and costume improvements you can purchase for your characters, the more fun the game becomes.

There is also the Wolverine issue. Essentially, when all else fails, you can defeat most bosses (at least up to point I got in the game) by having Wolverine walk up and do a claw slash at point blank range. As it should be, but unoriginal.

There are some other nifty features they've built in. Codes or patterns you need to work out in order to pass some levels but at the end of the day, nothing puts an evil genious down like a razor sharp claw to the face.

I start out by saying that DC is the worst comic company ever ( although I do like Batman). Anyway when I heard that this game was out, I went and pre-ordered it. When it came, I put it in, and was blown away. Although the graphics are somewhat like a comic book, this is what I wanted from Marvel. Go and buy it!
