This game is another Hack'n'Slash game, is pretty annoying. It has no story at ALL! Me, as a LoTR fan, find this very stupid.

The game is about just killing thousands of enemies and, sometimes, pushing buttons in the right time.

The few things I like about this game is the Pelennor Fields stage, there's still thousands of enemies, but you have a much larger area to run around and kill all the enemies; you'll also have to climb of to the cliffs to shoot at the Mamukil and bring them down (which, at the beginning, can be very hard). I also like the fact that you can play with all the characters from the Fellowship and the "combo buying system" is quite unique and cool, as you kill enemies you win points that you can use to buy new movements to the characters but is not hard to master all the characters.

Gandalf spells sucks a lot, they could have made lots of more cool spells with more visual effects and so on.

But the worst of this game is the Barad-Dûr level, Jesus... I cannot believe what they did... Can you imagine a hobbit beating up hundreds of orcs??? Yeah, neither do I. The final level sucks a lot also; you are ate Moria Gates in a 5m diameter circle while thousands of enemies just keep coming until the Nazgûl comes and you beat them more easily than you beat up the thousands of enemies... The Nazgûl are so lazy and easy I cannot believe!

The graphics are good and the sound is also ok. Gameplay sucks, just pressing over and over one or two buttons.

In resume:

*Buy this game if:

-You want to have the whole series of LoTR in your shelf,
-You like Hack'n'Slash style games,
-You'll do anything to have anything that haves an LoTR label on it,
-You have lots of money.

*Do not buy if:

-You expect a good and solid game with some story,
-You liked the first LoTR - FoTR game,
-You didn't liked the LoTR - TT game,
-You're a strict fan of LoTR.

An entertaining game

Its time someone sat back and made a good honest review of this game. The one word i can think to describe it is: entertaining. Which is both good and bad. As far as graphics and controls and stuff its pretty good. but where gameplay is concerned it is pretty lame. The game is pretty much revolved around mashing in the A button (X for ps2). Although there are many characters, they have pretty much the same combat styles( A BUTTON!!!!).The best part of this game is most definatley the coop mode. ( a definite improvement over the two towers game.) There is nothing more fun than sitting down with a friend and laughing at all the cheesy glithches and combos. One final thought: the game is surpringly easy. (PRESS A!!!!!!)It is Also extremlry short and hardly follows the storly line of return of the king. Anothert final thought: if tou have not yet beaten the game you will have to watch all of the cinematics before each level. These are so long and boring its like watching all three movies before you even get to play!

Excellent game!

I have just conquered this game last night and all i've got to say about it is " WOW"!

This is the final chapter of the Lord of the Rings game series, You get to play as Frodo, Sam, Gandalf, Aragon, Legolas and Gimli on trying to end the war of the ring from Sauron.

The graphics are amazing, the fighting styles are great and the movie cut-in scenes are phenomenal. This includes some interviews with the movies's stars and some production stills of "Return of the King".

So while you wait for the new movie to hit theaters, buy this game for your PS2, Xbox or Gamecube.

This is the best of all the games in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, with outstanding graphics, fun and exciting gameplay, and challenging levels this game tops them all off. First, heres the story. It is just like the movie. You can play as Gandalf, Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli, Sam, and Frodo. Eventually when you beat the game you can also play as Faramir, Merry, and Pippin. You fight the minions of Saurons army. They include Orcs, Uruk-Hai (yes, Sauron also has Uruk-Hai that are infact, from what I've read, worse than Sarumans), Easterlings, Oliphants (don't worry, the way you kill them is much more simple than the way Legolas does it in the movie), The Dead Men of Durrharrow, Trolls, and even the Nazgul! As well as bosses such as Gollum, Gorbag the Orc, Shelob, The Witchking, and the King of the Dead. It is a very exciting game. You play in levels such as the Battle of Pelannor Fields, The Black Gate, Cirith Ungol, Minas Tirith- Courtyard and Top of the Wall just to name my favorites. It has fun features such as Co-op, which was not in the other two LOTR games, and continues things such as interviews, movie clips, and production pictures and sketches. This game is addictive and grabbing, in fact, I beat this game a few months ago and I still play it! For ease, some levels took me 10 minutes, some took me 10 weeks. Need I say no more. Overall an amazing game! If you are a LOTR fan, buy this immeadiatly!

What a Mess

This game SUCKS. The first four stages involve fighting the armies of the dead (e.g. ghosts) from a severely distant camera angle, and the lighting is so subtle and arbitrary that you cannot tell when the ghosts are invincible and when you can hit them. You also can barely tell who is who during co-op mode because the camera is so far away. I loved the Two Towers game and beat it using all 3 characters, and I am unable to progress at all in this one, even in easy mode. I do not understand why the developers took such a dramatic turn in the gameplay here. It's an incredible disappointment. If I wanted this kind of nonsense I could have just gone to Lucas(f)Arts.

This game ROCKS!

The Return of the King game is awesome! I've played the single player and the co-op, and they are both fantastic!! I love all the character choices you have. I have not had a problem with camera angles being too far away. I like being able to see the entire battle scene instead of just what's right next to me. Basically, I LOVE this game, and I'm totally addicted to it! GREAT JOB, EA!

This is what all the hype was about?

The graphics are great, but the gameplay suffers because of the emphasis the designers placed on the graphics. Some problems with camera angles as well (camera zooms out, your character looks like a tiny blip in a sea of blips) The Two Towers was a much more solid game, good graphics AND gameplay. Too bad EA strayed from the path. "If it aint broke dont fix it"

one of the best games ever

I just got this game and it's cool. The game is similar to the second but you get to play all the characters. The game is also hard but not that hard. You can pick which difficulty mode you want, theres easy, normal, and hard. The game is a must have for any fan and extreme gamer. The only flaw is the price of the game. Its just too much but worth it. If you are the gamer that doesen't like the price you may want to wait because the game will lower it's price pretty soon because the secon game is already lowered its price.

An incredible hit, what an improvement.

Ok Well to start, I thought that the Two Towers (the preceding game) was a very solid and fun game. It had good gameplay and I enjoyed it while it lasted. But I did, however, find a few flaws in this game; mainly errors having to do with flexible gameplay, stale moves and length. This new game The Return of The King, is truly incredible. It has improved on all of the things that i had problems with before, and it has added even more. It is an extroardinary game for people who are into action/ adventure games and for people who like the LOTR. Overall, i think that this game is great, fun, and unique and I recomend it to all. This game is truly revolutionary and a blast to play...(P.S. - The new Co-Op mode is also a tremendous improvement.)
