EA games are useless at customer support and patching bugs

Just a warning to potential buyers of lord of the rings that EA games have a shocking record with customer service and are very poor about patching bugs in their games. For example, EA's 'award winning' RTS game, "Command & Conquer Generals, Zero Hour" is riddled with bugs that more unscrupulous gamers exploit. EA has known about these for over a year now and yet has failed to patch these bugs. EA also closed down the European servers for the game increasing most Europeans' pings by ~80-120ms.
Hope they get it right this time. My impression is that after you have bought the game from EA, you are on your own - little support, minimal patching, but btw thanks for your $50....

I dont have this but i know its awesome

Well first of all for all you who are wondering about skirmish modes thier will be along with multiplayer. This game has four teams Isengard, Mordor, Rohan and Gondor here is some info about each race Isengard has very little heros and they cant make as many units but they are based on strengh and seige thier urk hai are the strongest foot soldiers in the game. Rohan is more focused on heros and speed infact they have around 7 heros including aragon legolas and gimli rohan has the strongest calvery in the game. Now we move on to mordor they have poor defences and weak soldiers... sounds bad doesnt it? WRONG Mordor is able to make soldiers fast with no cost so its quite easy to overwhelm your opponents Mordor also has Mumikill ( the elaphant like creatures) and trolls which are very strong to make up for thier weak foot soldiers Mordor also has ring wraths also known as nazgul which ride upon fell beast. Finally we move on to gondor Gondor has about 4 heros including Gandalf Gondor has poor siege abliitys and average soldiers but thier defences are superb. Ok now thier will be of course a campaign two sides evil and good you will fight at the classic levels like minas tirith. Now some of the powers in this game can change the whole battle around the good forces will be able to summon the eagles, ents and army of the dead the evil side will be able to summon the balrog, eye of sauron, a spell that changes the terrain, ok now lets get on to unit emotions for example unlike warcraft starcraft etc etc the units basicly just stand thier but in this for example a group of gondor soldiers walk up to some mordor orcs they start cheering and taunting the orcs and when they kill them they will cheer telling you to send them into battle they may act brave but if a cave troll walks up to them thier gonna pute thier shields up and start walking back cowardly. Well i know alot more about this game but i dont have the time to tell you oh incase u didnt know this is a rts like warcraft. IF YOUR A LOTR LOVER OR A RTS FANG GET THIS GET THIS GET THIS!!!!!!!!!

This could be a great game if you could play it. By this I mean you better have one hell of a computer to run the darn thing. I have a 2003 DELL with Pentium 4 and it all most had a stroke try to run it. Your computer needs a Pentum 5, but of corse they don't make them yet. So, for now you'll need a computer from NORAD. This is the only way to play it. In 2 years you'll be able to play it on all the very high graphics. Trust me, every body else is playing it on low graphis. It acts like its haveing a mussel spasm. Just wait a yeat or sow to by.

The PC game of the year!

I have seen the previews for this game over at the EA website, and let me tell you, this game is going to blow the socks off the competition this Christmas! I am so excited about commanding the Armies of Middle-Earth myself, and being able to be either good or evil! What an ingenious move by EA to allow the gamer to pick which side he/she wants to play on! I am sooo ready to command Sauron's armies. Hurry up, November 15th! I can't wait to get started conquering my lands! :)

If you have not seen the trailers, "Inside the Battle" clips, and the game demo at the official site, you might as well stop reading right now for you will not believe when I tell you how magnificent this game is.

I want to start this review first by saying that the movies truly brought to life the fantastic books by Tolkien. Peter Jackson and Professor Tolkien are geniuses! The games created by EA Games (ROTK and TT) were beautifully created and threw the player into the movie in a tense, cliff-hanging action game. The new game they are about to release is stunning. To control hundreds or thousands of units at once is unbearable. But through the catupults and Fell Beasts, an expert RTS gamer would be in awe at the immense war game in front of the screen. You decide the battles and the outcome of the war.

However, what difference is there from this and the other Real-time strategy games? Mark Skaggs and his team created is a mark in gaming history. A new generation of games has been created from this game based on the battles of the award-winning epic trilogy. The AI in this game act exactly like they would in real life. The Gondor knights cower in fear in front of the fierce cave-trolls. The gigantic Oliphaunts and Ents rampage in fear as they are set on fire. The Balrog triumphs in glory as it crushes the last Minas Tirith soldier in its flaming hand. All of this can be found in this game. Amazing!

The fate of Middle-earth is entirely in your hands as you play with four different teams with their own unique abilities. Good luck and conquer your foes.

This game looks awesome. The graphics and A.I. in the game is really advanced. I like how you can make it so the units have there own thoughts about other units. Like in one of the movie clips the humans backed away from the troll. I am really looking forward to this game!!!!!!

Add one part CC: generals engine, one part cool lord of the rings skins, and 4 parts terribly balanced races and you'll end up with LOTR:BFME(I know even the acronym is long)

First off let me say the single player campaign for both good and evil are very fun and fairly addicting. With that said this games multiplayer player aspect looks like it had been designed and programmed by a retard that had his way with a typewriter. This for me is a huge deal because the reason I buy RTS's is for their online replay ability and this game simply does not deliver.

Problem 1: Resources(Lack there of)
One of the problems coming from BFME is that there's only one resource, some of you may say "oh, this is good I don't have to worry about micro management" that may be but it makes the game overly simplistic. Trying to have a broader appeal shouldn't cause you to sacrifice your games intelligence. Besides the only resource in the game is called `resources' and that's just too stupid for even my taste.

Problem 2: Poorly balanced races
Isengard kills everything, Mordor is more impotent than Bob Dole, Its almost impossible to siege with Rohan, and Gondor I guess is decent but still dies consistently to Isengard. The whole time I had played my many LAN games with friends I kept wondering how they could screw up so bad with ONLY 4 RACES! A six year old could have designed this better had they a sound knowledge of rock paper scissors.

Problem 3: Special Abilities
In case you don't know BFME gives you experience points for battle which you can use later to buy special powers depending on what race you are (kinda like generals...). At first I was like "oh wow cool you can summon the Elves and the Rohirrim just like in the movies". This was then shortly followed by "OFMG this is teh sux0r" why, do you ask? Simple, you can use them as many times as you want! There's no hard cap on special abilities, like clock work I can summon the Elven Warriors over and over as if there is a limitless supply and they have nothing better to do; the same thing goes for the Rohirrim. This is especially annoying in multiplayer games, where you basically can fight battles with simply your special armies, this can go on for hours and I've done it. The game was reaching the 4 hour mark right before the game crashed.

Problem 4: Limited Multiplayer out comes
Even a multiplayer game that takes 4 hours to produce a winner, is really decided in the first 10 minutes of the game. It's just a fact that this game can produce the most depressing stalemates, Stand-offs, and just general delays than that first high school girlfriend you tried to convince to sleep with you.

Final Thought:
So all in all I would recommend you borrow this game, and by borrow I definitely do not mean steal because EA would be really hurt by that, being the mom and pop video game stand they are.

THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!

This is the best game ever!! if you really like LOTR this is a must! You get to command the forces of Good and Evil in the Epic struggle to destroy the ring of power. Even if you just like stratagy games you will love this game. It is so different from your casual stratagy game. Your armys come out in groups of five if your playing good, and come out even larger if your evil so you really get massive armys. You can trample other enimy armys underneath the hoofs of you cavalry (or bigger units). This game is worth the money. This game is Awesome!!
