The Battle For Middle-Earth is a great game!

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth is a wonderful game. In the campaign mode, take control of the armies of Rohan and Gondor and drive back the Dark Lord's armies, or command the armies of Isengard and Mordor to destroy the mighty fortresses of osgiliath and Minas Tirith! Take control of a variety of units, including Rangers, Rohirrim, Fountain Guards, Easterlings, Mumakil, Uruk-hai Crossbowmen, and even mountain trolls and ents! Call forth amazing heroes to aid your forces, including Faramir, Boromir, Saruman, Lurtz, Aragorn, Merry, Gandalf, and even the Witch king! You can also fight against any faction as any faction on almost any map in the skirmish mode. This leads to some interesting battles, such as Nazgul vs. Nazgul or Gandalf vs. Gandalf!

Or you could download patch 1.03 and join BFME's huge mutiplayer community. Fight against your friends, save the replays, and learn from your mistakes. Good luck and have fun!

Best LOTR game ever made

The Battle for middle earth game (BFME) is by far, hands down, the very best LOTR game ever made. The graphics are beautiful and the characters are the best. I do not own the game, but I play it ALL the time. Any time I get the chance, I play, research strategies, and I foud some fun codes. A code to unlock sauron as a character is MASTEROFTHERING, you can type this anytime, and a way to exceed the command point limit is you type in james, and a way to get 1000 resources anytime is to type in MORIAMITHRIL and , I haven't tried it yet but I think a way to unlock Darth Vader and some storm trooper is to push controll alt and the letter s at the same time. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I do. I totally recomend this game to everyone, especially LOTR fans

Top notch RTS

Battle for middle-earth is an awsome RTS! It requires more strategy than most other rts games on the market, requiring you to build your structures on special plots that must first be captured. Squads are used instead of single units (except in a few larger or more powerful cases) and this creates a much grander scale for the game. The graphics are not the best, but the gameplay far outways this. The races of middle earth are sepperated into; Rohan, Gondor, Isengard, & Mordor (or, as in the campaigns; good & evil). Definitaley one of the best games on the market!

Amazing Game

All the other reviewers pretty much covered all the great things about this game, but I'd just like to add that this game is fun even for people who have never played a RTS game before. I had never played an RTS before and I only got this game because it was LOTR. On BFME, first-time RTS players can get the hang of things on easy mode before advancing to medium and hard. Overall, this game is really cool.

I have not beaten this game yet, but it is the best game I've ever played. In campaign it gets even more fun as you progress because your units gain rank and get unbelievably good. Helm's Deep is not as hard as I thought it would be, though. All you have to do is hold on until Eomer comes and then you just destroy Isengard. All the heroes are good. You can make a bunch of units, contrary to what people say. The Isengard level is really fun because you can trample orcs with Ents. Get this game.

Wrong System Info!!

The Amazon website says this product will work with Windows 98; however, it does not! I ordered it as a gift and when it arrived, the system information is different than listed online so unfortunately, the gift recipient cannot use it. It requires at least Windows 2000. I also wrote back to Amazon asking to have the information on the website corrected so others would not encounter the same problem. I see that hasn't changed either.

This game is fun, believe me. I could play it all day! It's cool the way a Nazgul will swoop down, grab a enemy unit, and drop it.The voices are excellent imitations. The troll ability to eat an orc is fun to watch.Mumakils look real! This is one game you will definitly want to play!

I was browing the reviews, and saw that this game had the "Command and Conquer Generals" 3D engine,..that was enough to send me flying down the highway to get it. Anything remotely as fun as Generals will get me to lay down plastic in a heart-beat. The sad thing is, there is nothing remotely as fun as Generals, not even LOTR.
I guess this game is for Hobbit fans. I fell asleep during the first movie. I mean, how much can you stand of "where's the ring? he's got the ring, Get the ring! Save the ring! Destroy the ring!" ugg,..almost as bad as that last Star Wars movie with jar jar..."let's have a meeting! Not until we have a meeting! The comittee will decide which meeting will be meeting, but first some unfunny slapstic from this token jive dude.
If you lack the Hobbit gene, you will find this game is no Generals Zero Hour. On the contrary, it's a repetitive Warcraft clone. The skirmish games are so easy,..I left my computer on all nite and the computer side still hadn't won the game when I went to check it this morn,.. I guess the bad guys were still worried I might pull off another exciting trick like...building yet another farm. Uggg. This is the real Yuri's Revenge,..wait over a year for another C and C sequel and they turn out this borefest? I say, if you are dying to see fantastical graphics,..do yourself a favor and see Polar Express in 3D instead.

We read the description...read the reviews...made certain that we were using the correct platform....and...WON'T work on Windows 98! The description says that it does. WRONG!! I'm hoping to get my money back and am very disappointed. Please correct this before someone else has this happen to them.
