The game came as described and is working fine. Have had no problems with it. Is a fun game to play.

I am only going to comment on the graphics since there are plenty of other reviews about the game itself.

I have both versions (PS3 and 360), my TV is a Panasonic 50" plasma that outputs video at 720p.
My PS3 is connected via HDMI and the 360 via component.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the 360 graphics are definitely better than the PS3 by a long shot.
If you consider the 360 graphics as 8/10, then I would give the PS3 4/10.

The lines and detail are clearly sharper in the 360 version. In the PS3, character faces, and background images are washed out and fuzzy.
I noticed this most when driving around the city - in the PS3 version I had a very hard time making out distant vehicles and buildings, whereas the 360 was sharp and clear.

I should point out that I am not 'aligned' in any way to either the 360 or PS3. I just like playing games, I don't really care which console is 'better'.. but with GTAIV, I would strongly recommend that you get the game for the XBOX360.

Surprisingly addictive

I've tried the PS2 GTA games and they've never really caught me. They were fun for short times rampaging on drives, but the stories were stupid and the characters were impossible to relate to (stupid gangster crap with CJ in San Andreas - case in point).

I bought GTA IV on a whim after not even considering renting it once I read the reviews. I'm about 20 hours in and I love it. The missions are fun, and the characters and story are mature and captivating.

Cons: The character controls aren't perfectly responsive. The graphics could be better, but I suppose they had to make sacrifices to have this huge city. I wish there were checkpoints on the missions. If you die, you'll be put back all the way at the beginning. If you drove across the city, you'll have to drive again. Some of the chases go on ridiculously long and are frustrating. Your target always seems to go faster and make perfect turns. The missions can get repetitive and the side activities are not that interesting.

This is a good game even for previous non-GTA fans, probably the second best game of the year once MGS4 comes out.

An Amazing Advance in Gaming

Like GTA3 did before it for the previous generation of gaming, GTA4 kicks things up a notch. The sheer size of the game world, the details, and storytelling not usually seen in the gaming world, all come together to give you something, that I might not even call a game, but rather, an experience.

kicks butt

I've always loved the GTA series since part 3 but this is by no means a fanboy praise of this latest installment. In truth this game actully is amazing but falls off in quite a few places.

1) graphics are awesome. it's reat to see it in hi-def but because of the extra detail you notice things that are suposed to be there but are not. One example is you now have a pretty close p detailed view of the weapons but when they fire you see niether the hammer recoil nor the casing eject but you do see the bullet fly if you're parrallell with the trajectory. but this doesnt really subract much from the game.

2)Its great how many things you can do in this that you couldn't do before to really add to the fun of the game but at the same time they took away a lot of things that were popular in the other games from this one, such as hitching the truck to a trailer, flying a plane, jumping from a moving vehicle safely (you can still jump from it just prepare to take a decent amount of damage if you do), being able to run and hit someone at the same time and more i can't remember.

3)vehicle controls have gone down 10-fold. it's 10 times harder to maintain control of the vehicles at high speed in this game, and drifting takes precise timing and a lot of skill than in previous games.

4)The new things that thy introduced in this game is pretty interesting and for the most part pretty fun too. like drunk driving ( i still don't agree with this being in the game but it's still pretty fun. next thing you know they'll give you the ability to rape). picking up random objects and throwing them at people is pretty funny too.

5)The action sequence aren't as grand as those that were in gta: san andreas but they're no small scheme one's either. one scene in san andreas that stands out is the police chase where big smoke was driving the car and the closest gta 4 came to that was the bank robbery scene.

This is by far the coolest and most exciting game i have ever played. i was a fan of the old games, but i must say i cant get enough of #4. I would reccomend this game to everyone who likes to get into the details of their video games. or for those who just like to freeride without all the storyline. this game is fantastic for both. All gamers should take it for a spin.

^_^ GTA IV ISSS BOMMMBBBB !!!! ^_^

Chea well, all I can say is this game's the sh*^. seriously. It's somewhat better than San Andreas. But overall, it somewhat to have its lags from time to time. Meaning, glitches n' such. It seems to be missing a few or a couple of features that are included in San Andreas tho. Like, working out, and i can't think of any other feature. Well, let's just jump to a conclusion instead of stating the cons, and the pros.

Yes, if you're a true GTA fan, you're going to love this one. I gaurentee you that SH*&. I can tell you that right at this moment. hah! Ever since I've bought this game, I've been playing it ever since. 5 Consecutive hours straight in one day after buying the product. ^_^

Gotta love part IV.

To us, that is the sign of a good game. If it holds their interest for more than a few weeks and they can't "Beat It" after a few sessions. Definately worth the $60 for my older teenage sons. We preordered it and it came to our door the morning of the release!

wow impressive

This game is just impressive. It looks great and there's so much quantity here and not always in the expected formats; For instance you can go bowling or play pool. Do not let the "return to Liberty City" statement scare you. This is not the liberty city we remember from GTA3 but a whole new much larger much better version of the same city (New York). The story mode is equally impressive as it sucks you right in to a life of an illegal alien fresh of the boat from Russia.
Some elements that were present in GTA San Andreas are gone. You no longer have to work up the skills you need to play the game. Unlocking the other islands no longer seems like such a task because each is so huge. There is also an interesting "hide behind cover" mechanism which is very useful in gun battles (think gears of war).
This is without a doubt the greatest game on the PS3 to date both in graphics and gameplay as well as the best in the series.
