Question: What makes this game so great anyways?

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 9 / 9
Date: May 21, 2004
Author: Amazon User

Answer: It's innovative. When is the last time you have jumped on the back of a buffalo? Exactly, this game brings what most games dont have. Creativity. If you are reading reviews from the interent like www.ign.com dont bother, they dont give this game justice. This game blew my mind from the second I jumped into the character of Red. Give it a shot!(no-pun intended). All praise goes to Rockstar and Take2 Interactive for putting a game out that is actually different from the rest. This game stands out from the crowd. One last question: Why do people expect every Rockstar game to be like Grand Theft Auto? Newsflash its not going to be. This game is entirely different. Its called Red Dead Revolver, totally different name, totally different game. Thats my story and im sticking to it. Thanks for reading this hopefully you take it to heart and give this game what it deserves.(this game is a classic must have)

The Most Fun From A Video Game Ive Had In A Long Time

An extremely fun game filled with shooting, horseback riding, climbing, bandit killing, slashing, train robbing fun.And I dont care what most people say , the controls on this game are quite easey to figure out and remember ,and the story line is fairly intresting but not quite edge of your seat. There are also a fair number of humorous things in the game to give you a laugh every once and a while so you don't end up screaming at your TV when you can't beat a level on the first try. The Dead Eye Zone can be a bit of fun when you get tired of just blasting away at bandits, especially if you happen to have twin revolvers or Show Stoppers ( basically the same thing , but better )which give you almost automatic fire. One thing I liked about the game is the ability to unlock better things for multiplayer and upgrading things in story mode. This game has a number of things hidden as well, so it would be wise to replay it a couple of times. My only Complaint is that some of the boss battles can be extremely tricky to figure out , or are very hard and frustrating keeping you up for hours trying to beat them. After completing the game I must say I highly recomend it.

It's About Time!!

It's about time that a good western game came out. With this title being released by Rockstar Games I knew it was one that I was definitely going to have to get my hands on. The premise of the game is a tale of revenge. You take on the role of Red, whose family was murdered in front of him when he was young. In addition to Red, you also play as some of the other characters including Red's friends and even the bad guy himself. The look and sound of the game is based on Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns starring the likes of Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef, which are among my favorite films of all-time. The style of the game stays true to the genre with the look, feel, and sounds. It's a blast to play with quick-drawing, rapid-firing, sharp-shooting action. The settings also look spectacular which includes everything from border towns, cemetaries and silver mines to rivers, mountains and green, green valleys. Gameplay ranges from run and shoot to stagecoach and train chases on horseback. The controls are a bit odd but you are taken through tutorial early in the story to help you master the art of the quick-draw and the dead-eye! Some of the voices and the dialogue are a bit silly but it adds to the charm of the game and are good for a chuckle here and there. There is also a Showdown mode where you can take one opponent to earn extra cash and unlockable items. It's also a good place to practice your aiming technique. Red Dead Revolver also features a multi-player mode for up to four people. I highly recommend this game to all fans of the western film genre and third-person shooters. Have fun!

Good Clean Fun!

The perfect mix of a Sergio Leone Western and a third-person shooter. I rented it and I hated to take it back.

GREAT THINGS: Graphics, Sound, Dialogue, Music, Story and plenty of ACTION! Also, this game is rated M for Mature, but it's a "clean" Mature. There's no sex, drugs or bad language, just a little blood, which is a refreshing change from the usual Rockstar game.

NOT SO GREAT THINGS: You have to look hard to find any flaws in Red Dead Revolver. I only found two. 1) You pick up and use health bottles even if you're already healthy, which is a waste. And 2) There's a frustrating lack of checkpoints.

That's it! Red Dead Revolver is going on my Must Buy list.

Western Gaming at it's best.

Red Dead Revolver is, by far, one of the best Western games I've ever played. The game has an easy learning curve also. After an hour or so of play you will have all the controls down, and you'll be hooked or otherwise very interested.

It has one of the best story-lines out of any other games I know. Basically, a Western tale of revenge on a renegade Southern General and his Colonel. You play as Red Harlow whose father was brutally murdered right in front of him by Colonel Darien, again, General Diego's right hand man.

I wouldn't say this game is as bad as the rating makes it. There is no actual dismemberment, as the rating for "Blood and Gore" says, and the use of curse words is kept to a minimum. If you've seen any PG-13 Rated movies, the two could relate.

It's a fun time killing game, if you're bored, with great replay value for people who don't plan on finishing the single player modes. There are tons of characters to choose from in the multiplayer mode, both good and bad. The multiplayer modes are numerous also, including things like Showdown and Dueling modes.

The downfalls of this game are the short Story mode and the overall simpleness of it. There aren't many ways you can get creative with it.

But, the greatest thing about it I believe is: The sheer Hilariousness of it! Me and a friend sat and played it for more than 4 hours at night once, and sat holding our sides, crying, because of laughter. The midget clowns and the character reactions are funny. Especially how it sometimes glitches up. Once during a boss fight with a very fat character, the fat enemy got hung in a stairwell, because he was too big to go through it.

An Overall VERY GOOD game! You should buy this, and if you like this game, you may want to purchase GUN too. GUN copied off of Red Dead Revolver for the most part though. Both games have very short stories too.

If you like a good Western and great replay value, then you will certainy love Red Dead!

Almost Perfect... Best Western Game Yet!

This game offers the complete gunslinger experience with shootouts, quickdraws, saloon fights, horseback(& bullback) riding, cardplaying, etc. The character & level design are rich and complete. This game is just about fun! There are a few glitches & imperfections, but all in all I give it a solid 8.5 out of 10! I would not recommend this game to anyone under the age of 25, for chances are they would not appreciate the influences certain classic films have had on the creation of this game.

Best Of The Best

This is a great game! It's a rare jewel among others. Don't listen to the reviews from PSM, Game Informer, or IGN. They make it sound terrible. I mean it got #1 in EB games best sellers of the week. How could it be terrible? I hope it gets a sequel. One of the best games Rockstar has brought out compared to some of their other ultra violent games. I mean it is rated M but for just the killing and a little language. Like I said it's a great game. It took me the first level through once to get used to the controls. But how many good western games are out there? If you are looking for something new rather the regular old action genre go ahead give this a try, you won't be disapointed if you like a good western and good music (if this game comes out witha soundtrack,I'll be thereto get it. ) .

A Great Game

Red Dead Revolver is an amazing tour de force, combining all of the panache, excitement, and aesthetic of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, with an abundance of challenges needed to quell any hardcore gamer's thirst for action.
While many games lapse into repetitiveness, Red Dead Revolver only increases in intensity as you progress through its many levels, facing a coterie of staunch villains like, Pig Josh, Mr. Black, Grizzly, and General Diego to name a few -- all of whom are truly tough to beat.
The game is loaded with a variety of fantastic levels, characters, and weapons, none of which are as awesomely exciting as the Dead Eye feature -- allowing you to slow gameplay to a crawl, as you lock your foes in your sights as they scramble helplessly for the draw. Use this feature sparingly however, as there are a limited number of times you can employ this jaw dropping device.
The lavishness of the backgrounds are stunning in their stark realism; Burnt out saloons, abandoned Ghost Towns, and red-rock canyons are just some of the arenas you will battle in, not to mention aboard moving Locomotives, atop horseback, and in the Prairies.
The designers of this game have stopped at nothing in their creation of this truly stylized version of the Old West.
Awesome, riveting, addictive. Red Dead Revolver is the game to beat.

What other game allows you to play a western movie?!?!

This game is so addicting. I finished playing the game. And the best part is when you play the game again and start a new game, all the guns, items you bought through the first time are there for you to use!!! That's awesome. Some games don't let you carry items and weapons over to the next new game. Great job.

Also, great job on the whole ambience of sound, music and the way the graphics look. Like a grainy western movie complete with lines through the film and dots appearing at random.

I understand that some people don't like to play the game because it's linear. However, keep in mind that it's like a movie. A specific plot and path to complete. The plot is a bit simple, but that's what the old western movies were made from. Simple plot and a lot of cool shots!!

So, I think this game is just fantastic. I disagree that it was boring and repetitive. It's fresh, fun and nostalgic.

Have fun.
