The five mini scenarios resemble small side episodes taken out of RE 2 and RE 3 games, but don't have anything to do with the characters of either game. The plot in each scenario is a bit inadequate. All scenarios are short, except for the last one, which feels more like a full RE game.

To enjoy the game, you have to be lucky and pick the right character to start out with. The game now has a time limit for each scenario, which manifests itself as a T-virus infection. Kevin will often be accompanied by Allyson who swears nearly constantly. The "S" word is spoken a lot. The "F" word is written nearly fully! If you play as Kevin, you'll end up hating the game before it even starts. Just about all characters have useless special items except one, Yoko. She has a bag which can carry four more item, which is almost critical. I suggest you play all scenarios as Yoko, at least the first time around!

Aiming the gun is more difficult. The game doesn't pause as you go through your inventory. If you get bumped by a zombie, you loose your inventory screen and have to go back again. This can be really frustrating at first and takes a lot of getting used to. I think Capcom is trying to put the scare back into RE but with gameplay tricks instead of monsters surprising you. It may work out eventually, but most RE veterans will have their opinions when playing this RE.

Some puzzles are tough with a few clues misleading. There are two or three such lousy puzzles that will make you swear evil. You should obtain a good walkthrough, just in case.

About the introductory movie. I've seen this style before in Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty. I can't say I like the credits mixed up with the dramatic introductions. I think credits should be at the end. I don't think so much effort should be sidetracked into making an introductory movie that has nothing to do with the game experience. It is not integrated into the gameplay, and therefore a waste of valuable effort.

Saving in this game is a bit of a pain. You can save and quit a game to continue later. If you die, you'll have to restart the scenario. No, you can't reset the console. This will become a real problem in the last episode, especially due to misleading clues.

Last and definitely not least is the long loading time between rooms. If the other problems wont get to you, then the loading time will! Some stages are very short between loading. Add frequent backtracking to it and it becomes almost unbearable, especially since you can carry only four items.

Most people have probably played an RE game by now, so if you are an RE fan and you give this game a good chance, with good luck, you will enjoy it almost as much as a full Resident Evil game. I don't think this game was meant for non-RE fans to enjoy at all. It will be too confusing for anyone who hasn't played RE 2 and 3 to appreciate what's going on. It doesn't mean that I didn't like RE: Outbreak, but I do have mixed thoughts about it.

My Thoughts on Outbreak

Hi, this is albertweskeroutbreak from the Resident Evil Control Squad and this is my review for the game. I purchased this game as soon as it hit the shelves, and i'm still playing every single day. Being the Resident Evil fan that I am, I have to say that this is a GREAT game for online play. Offline is also very fun because there are so many secrets to unlock and it takes a long time to unlock everything which is a good thing. It took me 4 weeks to unlock everything on offline mode, and that 4 weeks I played EVERY day. Online play is even better, you get to work with other people, or you can betray them. Capcom added Friendly Fire recently and it has gotten even better. This game is really great and if your a Resident Evil fan I highly reccomend you buy this, if youve never played this game, GET IT NOW. Its great it has 5 action packed scenarios that are long and it has LOTS of replay value, whether you can play online or not this game will keep you at the edge of your seat. BUY IT!

Resident Evil outbreak is hard and its really challenging. The story is awsome i like the gore it almost looks real the creather are original with some old monsters as well the graphics are hood but not as good as resident Evil for Game cube. The levels get harder as you go along. The caracters almost look real. The playing online is the best way to play it's the greatest game i ever played.
It is confusing at the start but you get used to it.

Fun, dark, and I'm satisfied.

First of all, I am not a Resident Evil fanboy. In fact, this was the first game I played of the series. I think it was the best choice in many ways actually, since the levels were split into hour-long episodes and I can let other people help me online if I don't want to gruel in single player, which I found very hard even when it was set on Easy.

That being said, I think this new edition was great! I originally came to want this because I couldn't handle the stress and paranoia in games like Silent Hill. I figured it would be nice to have a game more oriented with a decent flow of action rather than chop-chop-chop run for the hills, keep running for ten minutes, look for scary things in the fog, now find an item. It was disappointing, and I was getting just too paranoid with games like SH.

Aside from the tradition of Resident Evil, I LOVED this revolutionary game in the series because everything just worked! Unlike SH, I wasn't a tank in this game and I always knew I had either some fairly good AI on my side or some expert human players that have my back. The story, though I'm told doesn't have as much of the mystery and suspense as the other games, carries out wonderfully. The only issue I have that I haven't really seen in any other game is the fact that cutscenes and even mini-cutscenes(the ones that heighten model detail a little as opposed to alot) need a loading screen before they are shown, which can hinder online play a little since most players will skip them. If you've played a game on a next-gen console like PS2, you know that most cutscenes are integrated with gameplay so there is a smooth transition. Oh well, I got used to it, so can you.

One other thing I'm not satisfied with, however, is the fact that the servers won't let you play online if you're profile doesnt show you as 17 or older, which I find totally pointless. If you're playing the game in Single player, they shouldn't hold the right to restrict you from playing on the Network. Forgive my critique on today's discipline methods, but that's what parenting is about people. Leave it to the parents, Capcom!

Now if you want to get to the root of Outbreak, I'd give you this advice: Outbreak is the game you want to buy if you play games to beat them. Outbreak has episodes and a decent storyline, but it seems like it's more geared toward beating levels, gaining points, and spending them on extras. Extras and cheat costumes are also achieved by completing in-game scenarios and grabbing special items. So I just feel like you may enjoy the storyline, but it really seems like it's more about the gaming part of the game than anything, which is great in a sense because you can get up to 3 people to help you do just that!

this game is awesome!!

This game is good it's not the best but it sure can be scarey and fun, Pick from 8 charactear's with each of there own special action's and personal item (and some charactear's to unlock) Go online in a world of dead walking and try to get you're self and you're team mate's out of the mess, Up to 4 player's for one game. There is so many thing's you can do like give a item to one of your team mate's pick em up from the floor when they are weak and hurted and more!. I hope you really enjoy this game as well as i do.. And it's not hard to play i'm really good at this game and you will to. =^-^=

Awesome game. Revisit Racoon City and expand the old story. New levels, revisit familiar areas. Lickers return! Tons of replay value. The online mode lets you roam the levels with friends and other players. Unlock NPCs and run around as your favorite characters. Lots of new features and weapons to play with. Like smacking zombies with a janitor's brush. Fun fun fun game. Worth every penny.

I bought this game on April 4th and today I have reached the last of the five scenarios. I have been playing for a total time of around 6 hours on the easy difficulty. This game is different from the other games because of two main things...1.Your game takes place in 5 different scenarios in different places. 2. You play along with a team of two other computer operated players or online with a team of 3 other players. The game has stunning visuals and the videos are breathtaking but what else to you expect...it is Capcom. It is very refreshing with the choice to either change characters between levels or continue persuing the game with the character you started with. The game plays alot like the other games with a choice of traditional d-pad controls or left analog stick control. The game is long but keeps you satisfied with amazing videos and all the suspense and action that resident evil is known for. I would recommend this game to anyone and if you are a fan of the resident evil series you should be slapped if you dont buy this.
