Don't buy this game without renting it first! I have only a few problems with this game. First is that its too complicated. It took me 15 minutes to figure out how to start the game. Second is that it takes too long to play. You start an event, it lasts 10 seconds, then you're waiting 5 minutes for it to load back to the main menu. The graphics are good, but the controls aren't specific enough. This is just some advice, maybe you will have a different opinion than mine. I'm just really glad that i rented it for 5 dollars, rather than buying it and not liking it for 50 dollars.

As in the words of a smart man...THIS GAME SUX

Ok, well...saw this one at the video store and said to myself...Hmm, looks good to me. So I decided to give it a go. I was in dismay as I looked at the number of events there were. Six...SIX EVENTS! To me this is simply not enough. What happened to the good ole days of many events on an olympic game that required you to do button taps until your fingers bled. I miss those days. But we are given this, hideous excuse for an Olympic Sim. Do yourself a favor and go get Dance Dance Revolution and do some actual physical exercise. And its fun too.

I dont see why ths game is getting all those bad reviews. The graphics are very good and the events selected are very addictive. Sure it only has 6 compared to the 13 on the PS1 Nagano '98 game, but all 6 events are alot of fun. The skiing here is better than the ESPN winter games. Not much "button mashing" here, just timing and steering. I would recommend this to anybody.

What a crappy excuse for a Winter Olympics game

... I bought the ps Nagano '98 a long time ago thinking that it would be just like the N64 version. In stark contrast, it was horrible. I saw Salt Lake 2002 at my local rental store, looked at the back cover and thought that in no way could they possibly turn out another game as poor as Nagano, and I should give it a shot. So, i rented it. I am sorry to say it's just as bad, and actually worse. I couldn't even get through thirty minutes of it. The graphics are poor even for a ps2, the sound is awful, the commentary ... and the controls are atrocious. The ski jumping is awful and the bobsled is just as bad. You get never sensation of speed or any sensation at all, really. The gameplay feels really dead. There's no life to any of it. The long shots of the courses before each run you make are stupid and unnecessary. Need I say more? This game isn't even worth the 5 bucks i spent renting it.

Not too shoddy

I liked this game, I think people have been far too harsh reviewing it here. It's had decent magazine reviews (which is why I bought it) so I can only guess that there's some agenda there!

The graphics are ace and when you watch the real thing on TV you can really appreciate the effort that's gone into making it looks so realistic! It's fun to play with friends as well.

Anyway, buy the game yourself and see - you can always return it!

Winter Olympics: Salt Lake City 2002 by Eidos Interactive

This game is basically a winter sports simulation game of the real winter olympics which will be taking place in salt lake city on the end of January. Unfortunately, not all events will be added in this Eidos interactive game. I predict only skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding and bobsleigh will only be added to this winter sports game. The good thing is that not only this game is out on Ps2 but PC and Gameboy Advanced as well. Salt Lake 2002 is basically a game were you can experience how challenging winter sports such as snowboarding really are. Besides this, the game makes you take part in the olympics just like those who really made it to the qualifications. The sad thing, I must add, is that Salt Lake 2002 is having only 16 teams in their list. Not too many countries I guess. The graphics is superb. Apart from that, the stunts you could do in any event is quite magnificent and hopefully, this game will be remarkable. Sadly, I must inform you that this game has a very limited time because infact, it will not last long as the salt lake itself will not last long at all. Hopefully, the game will still amaze these peoplle who really love winter events and who really like to particapate in them as well. Take my advice and get this game before it's out of stock!

Really really bad....

This is quite possibly the worst game I have ever played on the PS2, or for almost any system for that matter. I'd rather bring out my Super Nintendo and play that instead of this boring piece of .... The graphics are bad, the sound [stinks], the gameplay's slow as ..., and to top it all off there are only 6 events, which are all equally terrible. I mean 6 events in a Winter Olympics game?? Give me a break this is an 128 bit system here. It's tolerable.. and I mean barely tolerable.. for about 15 minutes before I want to throw the pretty case in the garbage. I think it is safe to say that I am now dumber after playing this game. I award this game one star, and may God have mercy on everyone at Eidos' soul....

Hey, I live in SLC and this game blows! The game play is verry poor. The scenery is not acurate at all. It looks nice and sounds great but this should not have the Olympic stamp on it.
If you want a good winter game, play ssx tricky!

It just doesn't get any worse then this. It's not even worth the rental price and the idea of purchasing it is beyond all rational human comprehension.
Buyer BEWARE!

There is no way this could make the Olympic Team

This game is horrible. It only has six different events, and the graphics are not that good. the playability is not that good. it is extremely hard to control the board and skis in the alpine and slolom as well as the snowboarding event. the ski jump is very bad. don't buy this game!!!!!!!!!!!
