Upgrade in graphics, failure in gameplay

Definitely not as much fun as wii sports bowling, but definitely more serious. I don't want to compare to two games too much but since I absolutely love wii sports bowling and it comes with the wii, the comparison is unavoidable.

The good: Nice graphics, not the best but passable for the wii. The ability to customize your character is very nice, you can also purchase things for them as you get more money by winning games. The character movements are pretty good. The physics of the pins are better than wii sports bowling. They look better and don't fly out all over the ally if you put a nasty spin on the ball. The balls you can purchase have very cool designs, some of the body gear you can buy id realistic looking and stylish.

The bad: Those of you who like wii sports bowling are going to be disappointed by the lack of real-time response to your movements. You basically have to do your throw out of sync with your character and then hope he/she gets it right, this is very bad. The awesome hooks that I mastered with wii sports bowling? All gone. I have had this game for a week and I still can't get the movements down. It would have been nice if the manual had shown some techniques or something but there is nothing at all. As you play your character gets better but control does not seem to improve. Also in career mode, by the third game your character becomes "fatigued". Which means you are basically going to loose the third game to the computer every time - not cool. The characters you have to choose from are pretty bland. It would be nice to have a variety of people sizes and outfits to choose from. That is what made the mii so cool. And my biggest disappointment, if you were turned on to this game by watching the video like I was, beware. This game contains none of the cool stuff in the video, like the variety of camera angles, the neat crescent power bar that shows your accuracy (idiots put the picture on the box too) or the speedy ball that screams down the ally - Nada, zippo. Anther complaint I have is some of the things you can buy for you player are ridiculously priced - a hat for $350??. A ball for $1500?? - sucker better be made of gold. Even if it was I wouldn't throw it down an ally.

It is really unfortunate that I can't recommend this game, only because wii sports bowling is just more fun. Which is sad because wii sports bowling is sad game in its own right.

Lacking Everything

I am a big fan of WII Sports Bowling. Brunswick Pro Bowling is nowhere near the quality and fun of the original.
First, you cannot play multi-player in career mode. That's what's most enjoyable about bowling on WII sports.
Second, the throwing motion is awkward and the movement of the character on the screen doesn't match your movements.
The makers of Brunswick bowl really missed the mark with this one.

this game was a huge disappointment..
i love the wii sports bowling and so do all my family / friends...
i was so excited to get this game that i had preordered it and played it the moment it arrived... for about 10 minutes...
the graphics are so-so... the characters are creepy looking
the controls are akward... wii sports bowling controls are by far superior as they are simpler and more natural...
i could have gotten past all of this.. but... the gameplay.. ugh...
the actual gameplay was so painfully slow - HUGE HUGE delays between your movement and the onscreen bowler... not to mention the pace of the game...
the movements are not fluid and does not seem to be as accurate in timing or sensitivity as the wii sports version...
we played for about 5 frames before we were so irritated that we just packed up the game and took it to trade in...
if you still want to try it, go for it.. but i would recommend trying it as a rental first... i was never even able to make it through 1 entire game without losing patience... it was a huge borefest...

I bought this for my husband...he loves to bowl. The Wii Sports bowling was a bit too easy and he need a bit more challenge. This game will handicap you until you earn enough points for additional skills through the league play. Do not expect to conquer this game right off...you will work for your advancements.

Disappointing Bowling Game... Wait for the other one to come out

This game seems like it could be a ton of fun, considering how much fun Wii Sports Bowling is. However, this game is severely lacking. You are NOT able to play multi-player using the character you made in career mode. Instead you have to choose from 6 very lame looking characters. In career mode it isn't long into the first week you are scoring a ton of points... until you are "upgraded with hook control". Once your "hook control" is upgraded, it is nearly impossible to control the ball. In week 2 of practice on career, I can't get more than a 65. Wait until the other "real" bowling comes out for Wii and save your money.

Why can't we get a realistic game?

I will agree that the basics of this game are good. The bowling is somewhat realistic and the career mode is interesting.
But
What is with the limited character creation, the Mii's on sports bowling look more like their person.
What happened to Handicap in league games?
What happened to realistic gaming, why does my player always bowl first? And what about the format of bowling two frames at a time ala the pros on TV?
The pro shop feature is nice but the balls are too expensive, and why would you start with only a house ball?

Ugh, some day I hope to see a decent bowling game.

Spare!!

One of the biggest surprises about the Nintendo Wii is that a lot of people really have enjoyed the game because of the party-style games. Games like Wii Sports, which came with the system, and Mario Party 8 have really made it more exciting getting gamers into the motions of using the Wii at fun & gameplay. That also could be said for traditional sports games like baseball, and bowling. Although they've dominated thanks to Wii Sports, many other companies have tried to make sports games that would seem to carry over as well. Now, Crave Entertainment has decided to make the gameplay of bowling fun for Wii owners to enjoy, but does it leave the thrill of the gameplay alive?

Brunswick Pro Bowling for the Nintendo Wii, brings the action and gameplay of bowling with the the feeling of striking. The gameplay is simple bowling as you go though championship and traditional modes through 10 different alleys. The gameplay remains simple, as you used the controller to bowl like you did in Wii Sports, but the fun and gameplay doesn't appeal to new gamers. The graphics also feel a little choppy, and doesn't reel in the excitement well. Although some of the character motions from when you get a strike, to an actual turkey gobbling up works well, if you've scored 3 strikes in a row. The music feels casual, as well as the sound of the actual pins, but the fun could've been shined up a little more.

All in all, if you're a die hard bowling fanatic, Brunswick Pro Bowling would sound like a must buy. But sadly, it feels more like it is a constant game sparing in the stores, because the fun doesn't thrive like Wii Sports made bowling shine. This game feels more like it is a rental that fits like the bowling shoes that shined on the lanes.

I expected more with the Brunswick title.

Graphics were okay. But the bowling that comes with WII is better. Sad as that is. I returned this item.

The aiming is difficult to use. You have to turn your wrist and its not percise. The music is totally lame as well as the special characters that are suppose to comment on your performance. They don't even speak.

Worst of all. Your scores are not displayed in the corner while your bowling. Overall confusing to use, don't buy.

When it isn't what you exspect.....

Ok lets start by saying it was a very good idea to try and make a indepth bowling game for the wii. That said this isn't it first lets get to the main point u have to click the b button to make the bowler start to take the stance to bowl, seems simple but it doesn't always work. then once it does set up it seems like you are in slow motion. Then the there the qick bowl here where it really makes u feel like you have gotten and alley ball. You must choose from pre selected characters even if u created your own for career mode. So there is no saved scores here no reason to really want to do this. Then the controls here get bad alot of the times the second wii mote will not work it just stops and you have to share the first.

Now that we exstablished the point that this is nothing like wii bowling which may be the best game on the wii Lets talk about the career mode. First the computer hardly ever misses. lining up using these odd controls makes 0 sense. Here is where it should be a blast to play where you exspect the tiger woods create system. what you get is mediorce at best. there harly any options for customation at all.

In closing this is really a 19.99 title over priced and does't seem ready for distrubution at all. I really had high hopes for this title but in the end it just not a very good game.

An Amazing disappointment

I was so excited to take bowling to the next level over the Wii sports bowling. It took my entire family an hour to figure out how to even roll the ball and when we did we found it boring!! What a waste of $40. The Wii sports version is awesome and I thought this game would add a little more adult feel to bowling. Stay away from this one.
