Works on Vista!

I completely agree with the other posts that there are no other x-titles included (please put New Mutants and X-Factor in this collection), but where else can you get 500+ comics IN COLOR for $50 or so? That would be about 4 of the Essential X-men series titles, which would stop in the mid-80s. This has 3 times more comics, plus they are in color. I know use Microsoft Vista, and they work perfectly (I have also purchased 44 years of Fantastic Four, 40 years of the Avengers, and the Incredible Hulk complete collection). Good wind-down activity for the night. Great buy! If you want to completed a storyline that requires other x-books, it is much cheaper to buy a used color collection of the arc than to start from the beginning. Great buy!

40 years for 40 bucks? AWESOME!

All I have to say is 485 comics for 40 dollars. Or about 40 years worth. That's like a dollar a year. You do the math...it's an amazing deal. Also, quality is great and you can print them if you want.

Great memories...great way to catch up

I couldn't be more impressed with this product! The PDFs are very high resolution, you can zoom way in before it gets grainy...in fact you can zoom in so far you can see the individual fibers in the paper! (These are scans of actual comic books) The DVD has a very nice menu system, is easy to use, and well laid out. It even has all the special edition annuals!

I enjoyed this DVD for two reasons. I used to buy X-Men comics when I was a kid in the 80s, and re-reading these issues was a blast! I have also recently started a subscription to the X-Men, and found a lot has changed. It turns out that this DVD has every issue up too the start of my subscription, so I can catch up on all the history. X-Men is one of the best comics to have come from Marvel, and even the old issues hold up well and are very enjoyable. I would recommend this to anybody who likes comics.

$39.99 for laptop reading

So long as your laptop has enough juice, this would make a good buy for extended waiting periods although the lack of crossover issues is definitely a big disservice.

40 Years of the UNCANNY X-Men

This is a great buy, but it really can't be called "40 Years of the X-Men". First off there was a period in the 70's when the X-men comics where in a slump and they just did reprints. Secondly this is only the Uncanny X-Men, not "every" X-men comic. And third there are some story lines, called cross overs, that if you don't have the other comics you can get a little confused. Other wise this a great DVD. A reminder this is not a game, or movie, it is just PDF copies of the comics.

A must have for any X-Men fan

Just got this for Christmas this morning, what a treat. The disk has all the issues including the annuals in PDF format. All you need to do is pop it in the drive and you are reading the X-Men from the start to 2005.

You can copy the entire disk to your hard drive, there is no need to bring the disk with you.

These are the actual comic books complete with all the quirky ads and staple marks in the spine. They scanned them into High Quality PDF documents, that you can even print out.

Truly a must have for and a delightful gift.

40 Years of UNCANNY X-Men

This is an awesome collection of my favorite comic ever. While the product description listed how many issues were included, it simply said "X-Men" (which is the 1991-present title NOT included on this DVD-ROM) as opposed to Uncanny X-Men, which is the title that is included, so it is not "every X-Men comic ever printed". Overall, I'm very satisfied with this collection.

Nice collection of the complete issues, though, of course, one knows going in that the later Marvel practice of storylines that run through all the books makes the stories provided only a small slice of the full story, which is somewhat frustrating.

And the earliest years are, of course, somewhat crude (heretically, even the Kirby artwork in the first year is).

But very nice to have in an affordable edition, regardless of the flaws (though best viewed with a large monitor.
