Very good competition for Hoyle and Bicycle!

I own both this game and Solitaire Antics Ultimate by Masque publishing. They seem to be a small company but they make a great product. I've played a few hands of both Canasta and Euchre in their Card Games package and the AI seems to play a pretty good game. The game is polished and well packaged and presented in an appealing way. The list of games are Spades, Hearts, Whist, Euchre, Canasta, Cribbage, Gin Rummy, Rummy, Old Maid, Crazy 8's, Go Fish, and some Solitaire games.

If you own more than one Masque game, you can easily switch back and forth through the built in Lobby.
All in all, a very good package. If you find the AI in the Hoyle or Bicycle products as bad as I do, give this package a try. A real nice find and for a fraction of the price of the competition.

Need better AI! Or better Canasta player to program!

This is the only Canasta game I could find for Mac OS X-Intel, so I am very grateful to Masque for that. But compared to my old Hoyle game, I am disappointed. I scream at my computer partner at least once a game. We have 6 Queens in a meld, and she throws the 7th Queen into discard? I have played close to 100 games now, and I have yet to see my opponents, or even partner, freeze the discards- very strategic in Canasta. The Spades game is better as far as play, High Skill is difficult to win, these players seem to know their stuff!! Solitaire is ok.

Canasta is not the best!

This game is for 4, not 2. Your parner is not a good player even on the High Skill. If you have 6 cards in a meld, she will throw away the 7th card. It is not written well, but it is the only Canasta game I can find for Mac-OS X Tiger. I guess it is better than nothing. Even on the High Skill, it is easy to win.

Lots of card games, but poor AI

I've played hearts, cribbage, spades, crazy-8s, and freecell on the Macintosh version of this game and it's only average. It suffers from the same problem most card game software does--it doesn't feel like playing with other people. On the "medium" level the AI shuffles the deck in the machine's favor as you improve. Unfortunately this has the affect of making you think it's stacking the deck instead of playing better. Also, the "help" is poorly written--if you don't already know the card game the help is confusing--just buy the Hoyle book or Bicycle book to learn a game you're not familiar with--it could do with tutorials and hints to help you improve your game.

What a waste of money

This is the worst solitaire game that I have ever purchased!

I would not recommend this game. The Hoyle card game is a lot better than this one. I had this one and wasn't that happy so I decided to try the Hoyle one and I have uninstalled this one since I have gotten Hoyle. If you do not like playing with caratures then you may like Masque better.

Stacked Deck

Does not randomly shuffle the deck. For example, with Hearts half of the hands you're dealt will have several aces and face cards in each suit. The only game that seems to have any merit is Canasta and that has some major flaws.
