I must have gotten a bad cd,because everthing went wrong! First of all,on the Equestriad 2001(it has three diffrent games on 2 cd's,and this was one of the game's title) the announcer kept skipping(replaying and interupting such as: The sunshine's out to-) He meant to say The sunshine's out today, and he kept repeating it. Plus the 3 day eventing thing kept saying fatal termination and then it exited. Plus your horse could be out in the grooming area, and then from a distance you could still see the horses head in the stall! And the Equestriad 2001 didn't even jump that well! I probably got a bad cd,but it still caused a lot of uneeded stress! It's your choice.

i love it

I have been a fan of the 'Let's Ride!' series for some time now, and eagerly keep watch for all the new installments to the series which was how I came across this game. Naturally I found myself eager to play this game as soon as I got my dirty little hands on it. Once installed I began to test play each of the three games, which came with this installment, and almost immediately encountered a few differences and as expected a few glitches along the way.

(-Riding Star-)

In this game you are charged with the responsibility of taking care of a horse named Morning Star, or just plain Star as the NPC's shall call him, and riding him in a few misc. competitions. To tell you the truth this particular game reminded me of playing with a 'Tamagochi'. You have to watch the horse's Health, Thirst, Hunger, and Grooming all the while moving around the small ranch which the game is set at with your mouse to help you improve these statistics. Believe me you'll bore easily with this aspect of the game, as it soon becomes extremely repetitive. What saves this game from the Recycle Bin however, is it's challenging three-day events. All of which will take some time to get used to, seeing as you'll be going into all of them with blind. Not to mention the fact that they can only be played as far as I know in the `Bird's eye view' perspective. A word of advice, when you start the game up for the first time, click the multi-player option and from there choose whichever event you wish to practice, and then select how many players (Choose one.) you want to play alongside. You'll go through a few other screens until you come to one that says `Training'. Click it. You'll be able to play all the levels from the game, and be able to practice for them accordingly.

Pros:

- Challenging Three-day Events
- Informs you about the body and workings of a horse. Though not as much as one would have wanted. Refer to the Three-Day Eventing game if you want to learn more about horses.

Cons:
-Boring game-play
-Blaring background music that you can't turn down. (Glitch)
-Annoying music which gets old rather fast.
-Horrible camera angles

(I'm not going to bother with the Equestriad game that comes in this package.)

(-Three-Day Eventing-)

Now this is a game that I could play for hours on end. Like Riding Star this game also features a birds eye view in each and every competition that you'll come across. Unlike Riding Star, this game actually will make you WANT to stay in the stable. As I mentioned before this game is the one you want to play if you are in need of information pertaining to horses. They have Movement Charts on of the walls (It's in the Feed Room.) and a chart that shows almost all the colors that a horse my have on it's coat. Heck, this game goes even further than one would expect by actually having informative videos programmed into it. All of the videos (Each a minimum of three minutes long.) can be found next to the TV set in the Kitchen Area, and discuss topics ranging from `Grooming' to `Nutrition' and can be helpful to first time riders. As well as a rather large book and quiz cards (One of which shall ask you how many furlongs in a mile, etc.) that adds even more information into your mind.

This game has a scavenger hunt, as well as four horses and a hungry goat to interact with. In the beginning you can only ride one of them and have to earn the others by working around the stable and doing well in competitions (Which are easy.). Each horse needs to be fed it's own special mix of Oats or Sweet Grain, which can be found on the clip-board next to the horse's stalls (If you screw up the mixture, don't worry the goat will eat it,) and each had their own bridle, halter, and feed bucket. Now wait! Before you write this game of as too hard, you'll need to know that you can't even enter the other horse's stalls until you unlock them. Which you should be happy about, seeing as you also need to muck out the dung in each stall every time you go riding, and every time you come back. All in all I loved every minute of this game, and hope whomever reads this review does as well.

Pros:

-Informative. It's hard NOT to come out of this game without learning a least one new thing.
-Easy to play.
-Simple Controlling scheme, which makes maneuvering the horses rather easy.
-Amusing
-Tremendous Replay Value

Cons:

-No other NPC's that you can talk with.
-Glitchie jumps, which will refuse to allow you over no matter how well aligned you are for them.
-Glitched horse dung in a few of the stalls, which you won't be able to remove.
-Somethings don't work even when they are supposed it.
-Nauseating camera angles in the Stable
-It has the evil talking horse of doom as a narrator.

All in all I believe that this game package deserves quite a bit of praise for at least attempting what it did. Even if some of the results ran into the sub-par range.

Let's Ride - a dissapointment

I just bought this software for our 6 year-old daughter who loves to ride. I have experienced the same as a previous rater - sound effects were annoying, when they worked. THe majority of the time the music and voices just skipped over and over. I couldn't even get the first game - where you learn how to care for your horse - to load on to our computer. When I tried to contact customer support, I discovered that there is no 800 number provided, just an e-mail address to send my request to....and that only got me a canned reply.
Our daughter was very excited about finding this game in the store, but quickly became sad that the game wouldn't work properly.
I'm taking the CDs back and finding something else as soon as possible!

lots of gliches but okay overall

i got this game with a gift card and couldnt wait to play cuz i luv the first lets ride game. the first part of the game (riding star) gets boring in a short time in the small stable. and the eventing is wway to hard for a little kid but for and older one (like 10) it will be fun. the sacond part of the game(equistriad) is really fun but has tons of glitches. the voice skips and reapeats and a couple times i got stuck in a jump. the jumping is kind of bad but other than that i love that part (the type of person i am i dont really mind things like that) and then the third part of the game (i forget the name! champion season? i dunno it doesnt matter) is very kool!! it teaches u TONS of info of horses. there are a bunch of charts on the gaits of horses and colors of horses and there is a huge book about horses that u can read. there is even a tv where u can put tapes in to watch about horses!!! (like grooming, talk, ect.) there are a few glitches like in sum stalls u cant pick up a pile of horse poop. and oh ya, there iis a scavenger hunt!! if u like horses and want to learn about them then u should deffinatley buy this game!! ( i also recomend lets ride! the legacy of rosemond hill- its awesome!!)

I really like this game! I got it for my birthday. It's so fun; once you start playing it, you can't stop! I ride horses in real life, so it wasn't THAT hard. But it was REALLLLLY fun. I recommend it for all horse lovers who like jumping. I also recommend "Saddle Up: Time to Ride". When you get to the end of the game (it just does this for our computer, I don't know about any others) the sound turns on and off and if your riding, my horse goes invisible and I have a harder time controlling it. I gotta go play "Lets Ride"!

Will only bother with 3 day eventing

i wont bother with Riding Star and Equestriad 2001, they're too boring. You dont even get to take care of your horse in Equestriad 2001!3-day eventing is THE ABSOLUTE BEST out of the three!!!!Much better, but you cant get some piles of poo in Taffy's stall(palomino). The beginning kinda sucks, you only have one horse, and its hard to get credits. But once you get another horse it gets easier.Plus,in the trivia card part, some cards repeat. The good things are that you can play FOREVER if you want, theres no "ending",like in many other games. The first night i had it(friend loaned me it) i LOVED IT!!!I had to go to bed, though, but i couldnt wait till the next morning!!Boohoo,i had to give it back a week later.THIS IS THE BEST GAME IVE EVER PLAYED,THE ONLY REASON I GAVE IT 4 STARS IS BECAUSE OF THE RIDING STAR AND EQUESTRIAD 2001 GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

perfect game for horse lovers

I love horses and this is my favorite horse game to play. Equestriad 2001 is awsome. There are many horse colors to choose from and rider's outfits. You can even be famous horse riders like Pippa Funell or David O'Connor. The game has great commentators too. There are also many cheat codes that make the game more interesting. One thing i dont like about it is that you cant groom your horse, and there is no stable.
The only bad part about this game is Mary King's Riding Star. There is only one horse you can ride. Even though you can turn your horse out to pasture, there is nothing much else to do. The grooming is boring. The riding part only gets worse. The cross country and dressage are drab. THe show jumping is probably the best part of this sleeping pill!
