I have been a fan of the 'Let's Ride!' series for some time now, and eagerly keep watch for all the new installments to the series which was how I came across this game. Naturally I found myself eager to play this game as soon as I got my dirty little hands on it. Once installed I began to test play each of the three games, which came with this installment, and almost immediately encountered a few differences and as expected a few glitches along the way.

(-Riding Star-)

In this game you are charged with the responsibility of taking care of a horse named Morning Star, or just plain Star as the NPC's shall call him, and riding him in a few misc. competitions. To tell you the truth this particular game reminded me of playing with a 'Tamagochi'. You have to watch the horse's Health, Thirst, Hunger, and Grooming all the while moving around the small ranch which the game is set at with your mouse to help you improve these statistics. Believe me you'll bore easily with this aspect of the game, as it soon becomes extremely repetitive. What saves this game from the Recycle Bin however, is it's challenging three-day events. All of which will take some time to get used to, seeing as you'll be going into all of them with blind. Not to mention the fact that they can only be played as far as I know in the `Bird's eye view' perspective. A word of advice, when you start the game up for the first time, click the multi-player option and from there choose whichever event you wish to practice, and then select how many players (Choose one.) you want to play alongside. You'll go through a few other screens until you come to one that says `Training'. Click it. You'll be able to play all the levels from the game, and be able to practice for them accordingly.

Pros:

- Challenging Three-day Events
- Informs you about the body and workings of a horse. Though not as much as one would have wanted. Refer to the Three-Day Eventing game if you want to learn more about horses.

Cons:
-Boring game-play
-Blaring background music that you can't turn down. (Glitch)
-Annoying music which gets old rather fast.
-Horrible camera angles

(I'm not going to bother with the Equestriad game that comes in this package.)

(-Three-Day Eventing-)

Now this is a game that I could play for hours on end. Like Riding Star this game also features a birds eye view in each and every competition that you'll come across. Unlike Riding Star, this game actually will make you WANT to stay in the stable. As I mentioned before this game is the one you want to play if you are in need of information pertaining to horses. They have Movement Charts on of the walls (It's in the Feed Room.) and a chart that shows almost all the colors that a horse my have on it's coat. Heck, this game goes even further than one would expect by actually having informative videos programmed into it. All of the videos (Each a minimum of three minutes long.) can be found next to the TV set in the Kitchen Area, and discuss topics ranging from `Grooming' to `Nutrition' and can be helpful to first time riders. As well as a rather large book and quiz cards (One of which shall ask you how many furlongs in a mile, etc.) that adds even more information into your mind.

This game has a scavenger hunt, as well as four horses and a hungry goat to interact with. In the beginning you can only ride one of them and have to earn the others by working around the stable and doing well in competitions (Which are easy.). Each horse needs to be fed it's own special mix of Oats or Sweet Grain, which can be found on the clip-board next to the horse's stalls (If you screw up the mixture, don't worry the goat will eat it,) and each had their own bridle, halter, and feed bucket. Now wait! Before you write this game of as too hard, you'll need to know that you can't even enter the other horse's stalls until you unlock them. Which you should be happy about, seeing as you also need to muck out the dung in each stall every time you go riding, and every time you come back. All in all I loved every minute of this game, and hope whomever reads this review does as well.

Pros:

-Informative. It's hard NOT to come out of this game without learning a least one new thing.
-Easy to play.
-Simple Controlling scheme, which makes maneuvering the horses rather easy.
-Amusing
-Tremendous Replay Value

Cons:

-No other NPC's that you can talk with.
-Glitchie jumps, which will refuse to allow you over no matter how well aligned you are for them.
-Glitched horse dung in a few of the stalls, which you won't be able to remove.
-Somethings don't work even when they are supposed it.
-Nauseating camera angles in the Stable
-It has the evil talking horse of doom as a narrator.

All in all I believe that this game package deserves quite a bit of praise for at least attempting what it did. Even if some of the results ran into the sub-par range.

For all of you.........

For all of you complaining about how you can't clean out manure in Taffy's stall, I'll tell you how. Okay, you wave the shovel (or whatever you have) by one pile, and the other will disappear, and then you move you shovel around the stall slowly until it dings and the other one disappears. Ex. One pile is under the feed bin, and another is right in the middle of the stall. You move the shovel on the one in the middle, and the one under the feed bin disappears. Then you move the shovel over around the water bucket or over by the wall on the other side, and bada-bing bada-boom, it disappears. I LOVE this GAME!!!

EXCELLENT!

"Equestriad 2001" is probably one of my favorite games. It doesn't have any of the tedious stable management elements; you can go straight to the action. The dressage routines are excellent and probably the most realistic I've seen in a game to date. The cross country courses are incredibly realistic in regards to jump style and difficulty. The show jumping courses are accurate as to the type of jumps present. It includes the "Grand Slam" of the eventing world, the Rolex Kentucky event, and the Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials, and also the excellent Sydney course from the 2000 Olympics.
"Riding Star" on the other hand is not one I'm a fan of. The controls are difficult and the game was rather tedious. Buy this for "Equestriad" and not for "Riding Star."

Every horse lover should have this game.

Lets Ride: Champion's Collection is such a fun game. In 3 day eventing you get to do cross-country, jumping, and dressagge. You also get to take care of a horse. You have to earn credits to do stuff like a new level in shows, and to ride different horses. In the Mary Kings game you get to own a horse, compete, and earn ribbions. In Equstraid 2001 you can compete and ride for different country's. You also can create you own person and horse. All of the games are REALLY FUN. It is a must have.

Ride away!! (...)

"Lets Ride Champion Collection" is 3 games in one. Riding Star, Champion Season, and Equestriad. Riding Star is not as great as the others. It's a great deal harder than the other games too. Riding star lets you clean your horse's stall, groom, water, and feed. I feel dressage, a type of riding, is the most challenging. Champion Season is thrilling! There's 4 horses and you start with a Pinto. You will compete and when you get enough points you'll be able to get another horse. Heres a tip: groom and clean your horse's stall for points. The hardest horse in my point of view is Taffy. I love to show jump. I saved the best for last, Equestriad. You're an Olympian competing for your chosen country. You also choose the skills and color of your horse. Put it in slow motion. Equestriad is without a doubt the best game EVER!!! These games would be useful to horse lovers from 7-13. I highly recommend this game.

Awesome Game!

This game is so awesome! I've only played Riding Star and Equestriad. Riding Star wasn't very fun, I don't suggest it. But Equestriad however is the best game ever! You get to do three-day eventing(dressage, cross country, then show jumping) and pick a famous rider to be, many countries to choose from to represent. You can also customize your own rider, your name, whatever color horse, country, boy/girl. You have different places where you can compete and they differ in difficulty. Equestriad also has multiplayer which is very fun to play with your horse-crazy friend(Riding Star also has multiplayer).

Pretty Good

When you buy this you will recieve two cds. One will have two games on it and the other one will only have one. The tree games are Championship Season, Riding Star, and Equistraid.

Championship Season: Here you own a horse farm. There are four horses and a goat. At first you only can do stuff with Barney a paint. When you earn horse points you will get the other horses. An easy way to get horse points is do the trivia games. You can take your horses to the schooling area and competitions. This was my favorite game.

Riding Star: On Riding Star you play as Sarah Greene and come and get to take care of this guys horse named Morning Star. You can groom the horse, clean out the stall, put water in the buckets, food in the food bucket, saddle up your horse, and put your horse in the paddock, and go to competitions. The grooming supplies are in the tack room in the dresser thing. To the right of the screen you will see how healthy your horse is and all that other stuff. On the top when your horse is in the paddock, stall, when your grooming, and shen cleaning the stall you'll see a continue. When your horse is in the paddock or stall CONTINUE will make it a new day. Riding star is pretty fun except the competitions can be kind of hard.

Equistraid: Equistraid wasn't my favorite. It can get pretty boring. You choose what horse you want and you go to competitions. That's about all you do.

All of them are pretty fun. The price for this game is good because you'll get bored if the game after a while. I hope this review helped you!

Let's Ride - a dissapointment

I just bought this software for our 6 year-old daughter who loves to ride. I have experienced the same as a previous rater - sound effects were annoying, when they worked. THe majority of the time the music and voices just skipped over and over. I couldn't even get the first game - where you learn how to care for your horse - to load on to our computer. When I tried to contact customer support, I discovered that there is no 800 number provided, just an e-mail address to send my request to....and that only got me a canned reply.
Our daughter was very excited about finding this game in the store, but quickly became sad that the game wouldn't work properly.
I'm taking the CDs back and finding something else as soon as possible!

Wow...
By friend gave be this game for by birthday, and I can tell you it was my all time favorite gift! You can- create you own horse and rider, compete, change the weather, go to diferent horse shows and more! I was so impressed! When you win events you can unlock diferent things like- a mini pony to ride, different weather, diferent breeds of horse to ride and more! You will never get bored! Once you master a level the jumps get higher and wider. Fun, Fun, Fun! My favorite cheat was "Genie in a bottle!" Ever dream of owning your own horse? Well now you can in "Mary King" Game 2 in the game! Feed, Tack up, and ride your horse to the gold medal! That is right, 2 games for the price of one! What a deal! My vote for best horse game of the year! I must say the graphics are amazing too! Last, there are two voises that tell you how to jump the jump, history of the horse show! REAL DRESSAGE MARKS! REAL JUMPING PENALTIES! Name your horse and rider and pick the country YOU want to ride for. Ride for the title of #1! To tell the truth most "Let's Ride" games are not fun don`t work and the horse looks like a cow. Well not in this one! I am 12 and this game is very fun to me! Ride on the same team as your friends! Play with friends! Or by your self! I own my on horse and show (jumping) And I find this game like riding a real horse! In bad ways too, you can chip, take rails down, fall off, and get lost during the corse! But it happens in real life too! By the end of this review I hope you understand you really should buy this book! TWO HOOFS UP, for sure. Thanks for reading!!!!
