Very Relaxing and Very Fun

Big Kahuna Reef is like several PC games out there that require players to make matches of three or more items in order to clear the board. With this game, your goal in the earlier stages is to clear the board and free the fish by making matches of three or more items. In later levels, you have to match 3 or more items in order to bust the fish out of boxes, chained boxes, metal boxes, and more.

Irregular shaped puzzles and metal/chained boxes make for some challenges. I rarely run out of time on these puzzles, but when I first played it during a trial period, I did run out of time.

There are four beautiful backgrounds and the fish are very relaxing. The symbols you need to match include white pearls, black pearls, crabs, shrimp, shells, and more. On the border of the game, there are black fish shadows with black round circles below. These represent the amount of boards you need to clear to be able to release a particular fish or sea creature. Once you clear a particular level, you can release as many fish into the aquarium as you like. One level even allows you do release schools of silver fish! (can't remember the name of the fish right now).

You can also just watch the reef from one of four vantage points. In fact, you can even set it as your screen saver. I have the reef set as my screen saver and it's very relaxing (and beautiful) to watch the fish.

There is a "net" power-up that is activated after you make so many matches. This allows you to remove ANY piece in the board, which proves especially helpful for the challenges of irregularly shaped puzzles.

In my opinion, this is the best "eliminate groups of 3 or more on the grid" games out there. (I own several, including Jewel Quest, Bejeweled 2, and Phlinx). The graphics are gorgeous, and the music is very soothing...but very "island" like. (Think Hawaiian or Jamaican music.)

Highly recommended!

Both my husband and I like this game in the "Relaxed" mode. It calms our senses and you may make other personalized games for yourself or someone else, plus there are plenty of downloads if you want them.

If you like this kind of relaxing game-- this is just the ticket.

A Fun, Entertaining Puzzle Game

I found this game to be very fun and addictive.
It has a very simple concept: Line up three pieces of the same shape over "wooden boxes". When you make a match of three the boxes break. Break all of the boxes in a level to complete the level.
Every 3-5 levels a new fish is released into your virtual aquarium. You can set your virtual aquarium to be your screen-saver. It is quite beautiful and realistic.
The graphics in this game are A+.
There are plenty of levels to keep you busy in this game. When you finish the first set of 100 levels, another set is unlocked. If you finish those levels you have the option of downloading more off the internet. I have yet to try downloading any levels so I don't know how difficult it is, although there is a link directly from the game.

This game is fun and is certain to keep you busy for a while. It will, however, become repetetive. Overall, I am definately glad I invested in this game.

Fun, relaxing, challenging!

Of all the "move the shape to match two more of the same" computer games I'd have to say this one is my favorite. Although the shapes are somewhat small, the board changes shape and size at each level. Little fish are created when you make matches and then they swim around the screen. There is an object to all the matching. You have to match until all the squares on each board is changed. Sometimes the boards have locks on them and then when you match a piece with a lock all the contents of the board spills into another board. It's really fun and just a nice all around game for young and old alike!

Getting more fish is addictive!

This is a fun mindless but still challenging enough matchup game that allows you to get a new fish for your virtual aquarium at every level. I love seeing and learning about all the different types of fish and a few other fun sea creatures. I hope you too will enjoy adding a ton of fish to your virtual aquarium and kicking back to watch them for awhile. Good for all ages.

Pretty fun for a non-gamer

A demo of this game was preinstalled onto our computer when we bought it. I was never into puzzle games but i my mother, who never plays games, played one day. She fell in love and wanted more than the demo. I decided to buy it for her as a gift and she plays it all the time.

I love this game. I even play it in my sleep. I was getting tired of the other games I had and this one is the only one I play now.

Challenging but easy to use

This is a great game for those who like a challenge. The lower levels are fairly easy and difficulties are encountered the higher the level you achieve. It took me two weeks to finish the last level(100) but I finally developed a strategy which worked. Wish there were more levels.

You'll get hooked!

Fun and challenging. Spent many a late night playing this game. Graphics are excellent, music is relaxing, fish are beautiful (love the screen saver!) and game is challenging. Starts out easy and gets harder the further along you go. The last level took me over a week to beat, 53 was hard to beat too. I spent a total of almost 59 hours on the first 100 levels and am working on the Tiki Bonus Pack. Lots of fun! Finally figured out how to change players so you can compete against roomates (you click under the title on main page, didn't see it at first, small letters get lost on page) or siblings for best time and highest score. And "they" are worried about kids getting addicted to games! This one will hook you!

Have played both Karuna Reef I and II. Because I love the water and everything to do with it, I loved this game. Stocking your very own aquarium is fun and pretty to watch. The game itself is fun because each screen changes and it gets harder as it goes. The last one is, of course, the hardest but still fun. Ages 8 to infinity can play this game.
