Simple, but true.

The board covers only a part of the screen. There are only a handful of opponents. The pieces are 2D. But if you are the type that used to reach for an instamatic camera vs a 35mm, this game may be for you. Here's the "compensation" as the chess term goes: 1) The board colors are clear and easy to see. 2) The menu is very easy and you should be playing it in a minute or so. 3) The computer does not give decimal mind-spining calculations of advantage or disadvantage, but puts it in "plain English"; "White is a little better", "Black has large advantage" and so on. 4)Clear chess notation. 5) You can actual beat it at the lower levels and be challenged at the higher levels. The AI is practical and pleasant to play against. 6) It should be quite inexpensive used. And it could be so simple that you could be enjoying the game before you know it. And since this is a game that people have been enjoying for 1400 years, that's not bad at all.
