Who dropped this ball?

Ok the graphics for the game are killer! no doubt about it top notch pretty cool. heres the bad..... no health meters, you cant punch anybody, (only pistol whip), your charcter is arrested way too easyily. The controls of this game really suck! and you cant adjust them to make them the way you want them.

i really cant belive they made a game look so cool have such great feautures then make playing the actual game suck!! there are movie sequences that you cant fast forward threw and they take litterly forever!!

i wish they had kept working on this game it had so much potential but it fell flat on it's face! This game take forever to play. it's extremly boring. lots of driving and stupid police chases that start for no reason.

Sorrry getaway but you no good :(

Getaway Action

I have three words for this game, action, action, action. A lot of weapons and quick shooting. Settings are a little dark in color and cussing is present. There is a lot of violence and even some torture. Not for the real young and sensitive.

Should be made into a movie!!!

I bought this game used and overall I've enjoyed it. People keep comparing this game to GTA, but this game is way better. The graphics are good and I love the fact that you really are in london unlike the GTA games which is just in a made up city. This game has a really good story line. It's not all about sex or drugs. It actually has a deep meaning to what is going on in the game. I hate the fact that the video cuts are long and you have to watch it for like 2 minutes before playing the game but when you actually do play a mission it is worth the wait. In the end the game is probably the best game I have ever played. I'm waiting for some hotshot director to make this into a movie cuz it really should be.

Innovative? Yes; Fun? NO!!!

The main thing I'd like to emphasize about this game, is how innovative it was. They actually laid down actual geographical miles of a European city; London; maybe you've heard of it.

London is one of the most complex cities in the world, and for a videogame Production Company to take the time to lay down actual geographical footage is phenomenal.

But the game "fun factor" leaves a lot to be desired. Controls are just okay to plain awful! This is one of the last games, that I can think of, that didn't take advantage of the right controller stick, to turn your 3rd person view character around to the point of view of the player. What results, is a poor shooting view, which is about 90% of the game. PROBLEM!

I give this game 2 stars, for playing, and 4 over all, for just plain over all innovation!

It's quite cheap now, on this website, so I would suggest a purchase over a rental. You will get some enjoyment out of it. The British accents are fun to listen to. And there's a mess of naughty words, so don't let your under 17 year old kids try this one.

After you beat all the missions, go to extras and you can do free roam mode where you can do whatever you want.

its over all a great game to play

This game is fun and exciting to play. Though many people dislike it because of the long scenes in between missions, you dont have to watch them. By simply pressing the L3 button you can easily skip the movie.
Comparing it to GTA is a dumb idea, theyre nothing alike at all. They each take place in different countries, have somewhat different themes, and unlike GTA, The Getaway has a MUCH better story.
So to the people who didnt like it for the long, scenes, and those now contemplating whether or not to play it because of the long scenes simply press L3 to skip them and enjoy the game.

THE WORSE GAME OF ALL TIMES!!!!!!!

If This Is You

If This Is You(exaggerated or not):

1) ZOMG!1! This game is too linear!
2) Why should a game have long cutscenes? It's not a movie!!!

-and the ever popular-

3) It's like Grand Theft Auto in England!!!

DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! You'll look, feel, and be foolish. Side effects include: turning into a fanboy, ranting, ranting on forums, ensuing in oil and water arguments, generally pissing people off.

If THIS is you:

1) I like The Transporter, Snatch, and/or Tarantino kitsch.
2) I can watch these movies again and again.
3) GTA is fun until you're forced to repeat missions over and over.

Well, there's good news and bad news. The good news is, this is much MUCH easier than the controller-grinding frustration of GTA. It also conforms to the central european gangster genre(i.e. foul language mixed among Britishisms). In that sense, it also has amazing character development and a driving plot(i.e. the main character can only take so much being bullied around before he decides to take the dominant role - oops, was that the ending?!). Anywho, the bad is that it's just slightly frustrating if you can't adapt to the game's high standard of visual puzzles(i.e. blinky=turn, blinky blinky=stop, drop, and boogie). There are some nice challenges, and you WILL beat this game if you try hard enough. Whereas in GTA, it makes you physically ill to repeat a task, in Getaway, it's actually a possibility.

So hey, it's extremely linear and it's "trying to be a movie". If you can't get over that and just enjoy the good story and the neat challenges, play something else or bash your pretty little head in with GTA! Ranting won't make the hurt go away.

Horrible game, not fun, gets boring quick

I had such high hopes for this game, and it was horrible. Basically, if you love driving very far from point A to B many many times, then this is the game for you. If you like action, and missions that aren't the same kind every time, this this isn't the game for you. It may be cheap right now, but it's still not worth it.The controls are horrible, and the game's difficulty is just driving.

Insanely Difficult game

This game is ...UN-IMAGINABLY DIFFICULT. Do Not buy this game if you're not willing to endure lasting frustrations in trying to get to the next level. They don't let you skip the looong ass cutscenes they made for each and every level, you have to sit and watch them everytime. PLus there's a lack of proper save in this game, they don't let you save until you beat the whole missions. If you're born gifted with ps2 controllers and willing to endure what i described, you should buy this game. but otherwise, actual gameplay/graphics are incredible.
