Downloading the update forever & cant play during.

I pay for the game online... do the download, sign up for the account, sign up for the monthly billing.... that was 2 1/2 weeks ago. Still haven't gotten to play the game yet or even make a character. Why? because I have about a month or more left of downloading the 'update' to go yet. I have about 245.65 hours left (or more)of downloading to do (about a month or so left?!) before I can even see what the game is like, looks like or even see what a character is like. What a waste of money (mostly the monthly billing I have to pay for). I'm tired of staying online to do endless downloading of an update and not getting to do anything else but watch the clock tick slowly downward (245 - 330 hours still left??!!). Oh and yes, I have a great computer.

EQ2 - Has changed and is Solo/casual friendly

EQ2 has undergone some major changes. If you like to solo or are a casual player this is the game for you. You can get to level 70 with any class solo. The developers have put in new solo quest lines that are really fun to play. The new broker system makes selling easy.

Frankly it was not that good when it came out but the changes have made for me the best MMO - I have tried WoW and hated it -- EQ1 gets old unless you are into raiding.

I think anyone looking for an MMO should definitely get this game -- especially if you want to solo or are a casual player.

Everquest 2 is fun on all levels

I have played Everquest 2 since it's release and I just have to say, you must play it to believe it. The graphics and sound effects/music are just amazing. I invested in a high-end graphics card around for around $400.00 and have made every penny in enjoyment from this game out of that video card. You can adjust the graphics from low to extreme, depending on your video card, and usually you find a good balance between great graphics and fast game play. The graphics and worlds must be seen to be believed.

The development team is constantly changing the game up to keep the game evolving. The customizations you can make on your character are vast, as are the variety of classes you can play. Sony has made changes to make tradeskilling more basic and less confusing for some, so when you get tired from adventuring you can go make yourself or your friends some items such as food/drinks or armor/weapons.

The game is only as time consuming as you want to make it. Even if you play for only 5-10 hours a week you can still have enjoyment and advance your character at a good rate. They have released numerous expansions and dungeons that make the game continuously fun to explore and advance in.

I have played 2 other MMORPG's and this has blown them both away. The crowd is a mature, mid 20's type of players with very rare instances of immature players scattered among the zones (few compared to the other MMORPG's I've played), which is a nice change.

If your computer is capable of playing Everquest 2, I would definitely recommend getting the game and trying it for at least a month.

Just flat out good

I have been playing online games for about 2 years now. I have played COH,COV for a while but i cancelled the account because i got to level 50 and there was really nothing else to do. So I go to the store and pick up EQ2. From the reviews i have heard, i thought it wasnt going to be good, but the reviews were wrong. The graphics are beautiful and the game is very fun if you have a team to play with. The only problem is that it runs kind of slow sometimes and lots of lag get in the way. If you dont like playing on teams, dont get this game. Another bad point is the limited character creation. Sure you can just go out and buy cloths, but that sucks up all of your money (the in game money). You cant edit your characters costume at all, just there facial, hair, and body features really. A good point is the PVP (Player Vs Player). Its always fun going out and fighting your friends. So there is the review, I very was satisfyed with the game

This is a great game. The spells are fantastic, the graphics are spectacular, and the gameplay is wondrous. Here are some pro's and con's of the game...

PROS
1. Great Graphics
2. Great gameplay
3. Hours and hours of enjoyment with almost no end
4. Mature guilds and chats which is actually a good thing becuase when you play a MMORPG, there is always some moron always acting big and making everyone feel bad. I truely dislike it, and, so far on EQII, there has been nobody acting like a "newb" in the chatrooms.
5. Quests are pretty original, whereas WoW's quests are repetitive to the max.
6. Adventuring is fun, and tradeskilling is fun
7. Most guilds will help you out if you are a newbie to the game which is quite handy if you need help killing a certain Monster, or to get to a certain place.
8. A lot of character classes which have their own skills and armour just for them.

CONS
1. Long zoning if you don't have an optimal computer
2. To get far in this game, you have to be in a group. Most mobs in dungeons are 3 people and up heroics (which you can't do soloing).
3. Rangers and such can't kite in this game. =(
4. Soloing is not really a good choice in this game because you don't get a LOT of exp. soloing whereas you get a ton of exp. with a group or a raid. To me, it's actually an annoyance to get a group to help out with some random Heritage Quest or something else.
5. As stated in another review, most of the low level items look similar to the high level items. If you get a better item, then it should look quite amazing compared to something not as good.

The reason why i'm giving the "overall" factor a 4/5 stars, is the fact that it takes a while to zone to different areas around Norrath. If you are looking for a good time, and great people to play with, get this game. You won't be dissapointed.

Incredible MMORPG, what it's supposed to be!

I have read a lot of horrible reviews on this game, and I have read a lot of good reviews on the game. However, I disagree with most of them because somewhere in the text, they always put the game down for either it's grouping ideas or the way it's supposed to be played.

Let's be honest, there is NO MMORPG that doesn't require a group at some point in the game. In fact, all new style MMORPGS do require it to continue. In order to complete most quests in new style MMORPGS, you need a group! WoW, FFXI, etc.

As for Everquest, yes, you do need to group at some point in the game, but it all fits together. You're character is as needed as everyone elses. This is what makes this game more balanced than most. Every character shall have his/her place in the sun. Healers shall heal and mages shall cast, while fighters will fight and scouts will do their own thing. The truth is, every character is equal in this game. So, for a change, we don't have to wonder if our character is going to get a group or no, because it will. In other games, such as FFXI, we had to worry weather we would be able to get into a group or not at ALL TIMES. You could hardly be a summoner or anything of strange taste without having huge issues with getting a group.

Now, as for gameplay goes. The graphics are not top par, but the gameplay makes up for it. The animations in EQ2 are incredible. You will be surprised when you play this game, because every character is given enough special abilities to put anyone in awe. Again, every character will have his/her spot in the light.

If you enjoy MMORPGS, and I mean real ones, then you will honestly love EQ2, the patron of them all. If you enjoy PvP, you will enjoy EQ2 now, because they have two servers which offer PvP features. (Read up on EQ2 for more details) Remember, one of them offers Station Exchange, a new kind of bidding software available to those involved in EQ2 servers that allow Station Exchange.

Try it, at least. What will it hurt? If you feel that you wont enjoy it, download a demo and give it an attempt, or watch a movie or two from the official site. But trust me on this, you will not become bored with this game. There is always something to be doing and you are always counted!
