Three words to describe this game are OH MY GOD! If you could get one more game in your life it should be Home World game of the year edition. Not only is it one of the best rt strategies ever but the strategy guide is a real nice thing to have. I have never played a better game in my life and trust me I have played a LOT of games. I would have given it more stars but they only let you have 5! If you have no clue this is a space strategy game with a free floating 360 degree view. Don't get confused its not a flight sim or a shooter its a strategy(and a good one at that!) Well I hope my reveiw was helpful!

Damn!

This game takes the best elements of several real time strategy games and puts it in a cool new setting. It's like a mix of C&C and Age of Empires in space. The ships are really cool, though there is no major difference between the fleets. However, it's still a great game and a good one for multiplayer. The best aspect of the game is the fact that it is completely 3-D. It takes some getting used to, but it is suprisingly easy. If you're thinking about getting any other RTS (RA2 come to mind), get this one first, it is MUCH better.

Confusing to start

Once I stopped staring at the screen in awe, I found this game a lot of fun to play. If you're into strategy games, it's great to find one like this where you actually have to think to win the missions. Unless you're a strategy genius, use the strategy guide to complete the missions. It doesn't take any of the fun out of this game. The interface is outstanding, and once you learn how to manipulate the 3-D environment, it is almost second nature navigating and issuing commands to the different ships and groups. I think the highlights to this game are the soundtrack and the outstanding graphics, even though you need a decent 3-D graphics accelerator with lots of memory to get the high resolutions (I have 32MB). Unlike some games, the screen shots above are actually what you see in the game, and the graphics are just as impressive in the real game. Definately 5 out of 5 stars if I end up playing this game all night. :)

Not a game, an EPIC.

At first, you may think "Wow, cool graphics!". But HOMEWORLD is really more than that. It has a exellent single-player campain, as well as addictive multiplayer. As a 3D RTS(Real-Time Strategy), the controls are near perfect, as are the graphics, sound, and gameplay. Prepare to enter the world of HOMEWORLD...

Note: If you watch the credits, you get to listen to a song by the legendary band YES!

A Great Game

Before I had bought this game I had seen it many times in the store, it looked really cool with the 3D interface and variaty of ships. When I bought it and loaded it on to my computer I was amazed I how good it was. I have played many games such as "Age of Empires" and "Starcraft" and this offered about the same interface but with all the extra bits I had been looking for. Being able to control ships in a 3D envoriment was one of the biggest helps. I found the controls easy to use and the tutorial made it even easier. I do wish there was more options such as bieng able to set up a game with premade fleets and just duke it out but you can't have everything. If you like real time stratagy games you should like this.

Look out! Major time drainer!

If you have papers to write, real work to do, or have an active social life this game could be a problem. The game opens up with a wonderful step by step tutorial, (which you will need turst me) and then sucks you right in. Unlike most real time strategy games this one varies the missions, the opposition, and the locations in wild and wonderful ways. There is endless flexiblity in how you can build your forces and use them to fight. I can not tell you how many hours I have played this game, both in single and multi-player modes. This game is fantastic in short. I will warn you though, I have known people to get phisically ill due to watching the game, so if you are really prone to get car sick etc. you may need to use a little caution when playing.

Whoohooooo!

For all the people out there who dreamed about becoming astronauts, this is probably the closest you'll come in the comfort of your home. The graphics are simply outstanding, it really does feel like you are in space. The special effects and sound effects are all top-notch and just add to the depth of an incredible game. The sound score is just fantastic and truly creates the sense of being in space...even if sound does not travel in space. This is, hands-down, one of the most alluring and fascinating games to come out in the last few years. Beyond the graphics and sounds, the story is the true strength of the game. Although the premise of being the last surviving colony ship has been used in science fiction books before, this is the first game I have ever played that truly brought the premise to life. Believe me, it is nearly impossible to not become somehow emotionally involved in the story line. It felt as if I was watching an epic space movie unfold in front of me. That being said, I do feel that the units in the game could have been designed with a bit more variety. Basically, each side has the exact same units, except for a one or two unique units. This game merits five stars just on the depth of the story. However, unless you have time to devote to the game I would recommend not buying it...because you will always want to fire it up.

Having read the two or three negative revies on this game, I'd just like to say - I'm, not sure they were playing the correct game!!!

The storyline in this game is very powerful and emotional, the way the cut-scenes are done works very well, though you would expect it not to...

The graphics are awesome, and the gameplay - well I spent many many hours on this one.

The soundtrack has been called boring, but in fact it fits very, very well with the emotions in the story, and contributes a lot to the overall feel of the game.

One of my most favourite strategy games ever - I recommend you try this, and the sequel Cataclysm.
