Do not buy this game! It may be wonderful, if playable, but many boxes contain CD's erroneously packaged in white paper sleeves rather than a plastic jewel case. The install program requires entering a code from the jewel case. Without it, you've just spent [the money] on a beverage coaster . . .

This game is horrible! If yur thinking about buying this game reconsider...unless u like like sitting in the middle of space
with a bad battle system and a crummy soundtrack. If u did
want this game get StarCraft. IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

I think the difficult interface I a part of the difficulty of the game. Actully you don't need the manual to learn the interface and story (remember to read the stratagy guide). Just run training. Anyways, I can't think of a way to make a much more better interface. But actully I don't find interface hard at all (unless I drink coffe and eating a baloney sandwich at the sametime). IN the single player you can choses to be 2 different races, but the senario are the same. Unfortanatly, there dosen't seem to be any cheats for the game. The sound track cd that come with the game hat the 1.05 update patch. There are these black and white videos between each mission. Some of them are strange, for example, if you choses to be tidan, in one of the videos, it says kushan istead of tidan. Also, in the end video, none of the charaters wear socks. Also, the long row of little things on the cover are mines.

A break from the usual sims...this is awesome!

Homeworld is the best space sim I've seen. The interface is pretty straight forward, the tutorials are very well done, the plot is excellent, and the playability is awesome. The only reason I gave it 4 stars (4 1/2 really) are the graphics are not "up to par" with today's graphics but this was released in 99 so no big deal. It's not that the graphics are BAD, they are awesome. But compared to today's quake engine, it's not as good. But you will hardly notice because the game play is EXCELLENT! You really feel like you are in space and commanding your own fleet. And I haven't even tried the multiplayer game yet which has got to be wild! The Game of the Year edition comes with the Prima Guide and the music CD so you basically get the game for FREE!!! You can't lose!

The best 3D Strategy game I've played, bar none

I'm not too much into gaming, but Homeworld is one I keep wanting to play, over and over again. Because the Game of the Year Edition comes with the cheat book, I know all the strategies to beat the game, and I've finished it at least 5 times already. Because of the freedom this game provides, unlike its 2 sequels that tend to limit your fleet size, I really believe this is the best of the 3.

Great Game

I saw my dad playing this game and i thought it looked good, so i went out, bought the game and started playing.

Although at first it was hard to "Get into" it made up for that with the amazing graphics and stunning performance.

The only thing that set me back was on the "Kharos Graveyard" when that "Graveyard Cog" kept stealing my Capital ships and Carriers.

But yeah, it was a great game .. i've played HW2 .. so i just need to track down a cheap copy of Catacalysm.

Has to be seen to be believed.

The graphics and 3d camera deployment in this game are stunning.
As an RTS, it has a steep learning curve, but if you do live with
it for awhile, the reward will be worth the effort.

Not just another strategy game

Homeworld is special. The gameplay is completely 3D and you actually have the resources available to make very impressive fleets, with anny number of strategys from Kamakazi to cloaking fields. This and "hyperspacing" from point to point, for a price, makes enemies unpredictable and thus, fun! An esential game for anyone who likes strategy.

Wow, wow and wow again.

I've just finished playing Homeworld for the second time. I've also finished Cataclysm. Homeworld is simply the best RTS I've ever seen, and believe me I've seen a few. If you like RTSs, don't think, just click. If not, then read a few more reviews.

Suffice it to say, this game is dynamite and if you don't already have it, you should.

I'm just waiting for HW2 to come out now ... drool ...

This is IT!

If you enjoy scifi games or real-time strategy in general, you will enjoy this game. I've been playing it for years and still enjoy it greatly. 3-D combat in deep space with fighters, capital ships and special ships like cloak generators and long-range sensors. Take command and hang on...
