Not Intended For Children

I bought this for my 12 year old daughter and found it totally inappropriate. The "game" had an instance of a man urinating in a toilet. Come on! Although there were no explicit graphics, what on earth does this have to do with a pets themed game? My daughter also informed me that she saw a character taking a shower. Again, there were no explicit graphics but what is the point of having this in a game?

wow.. this is godawful. play the sims 2 on PC only.

i haven't played the sims 2 for PS2, but i tried this sims 2: the pets for it. first of all, the graphics aren't near as good as the PC version. my TV is years old, i admit, but still, many games look great. more importantly, navigating through all the menus and icons on the PS2 is horrible!!!!! absolutely terrible. it's hard for me to believe anyone plays the sims 2 on a PS2 after playing this. and then there's the fact that it's basically a different game altogether. my guy had to go to the bathroom.. i go there, but it wasn't fast and fun the way tasks are on PC. no, i had to stand there right behind my guy, as if this were some first person shooter, and wait and wait and wait for him to finish taking a leak. AWFUL.

Disapointing

I owned this game for a total of one day before I couldn't handle it anymore and traded it in for something else. This is a game that sounds like a good concept, but the end result is short of flat. It does have some neat little quirks to it though. I like the body tool and the way you can customize the sim with jewelry, tattoes, and a decent assortment of clothes. The pets can also be customized and the feature is pretty fun to play with. I had a blast designing the SIMS and their pets... but unfortunately, the game is more that that.
The actual game play was a little hard to manage and it was a little disapointing that the pets are not playable. Of course, this being a play sation version, the graphics aren't incedible but they aren't bad either. Just trying to figure out how the game works and getting a feel for the content was a bit time consuming for me and since my free time is limited, this really isn't the game for me. I love the SIMS series... but this one seems a little weak.
As I said... this is a "concept" game... one that sounds good and looks appealing on paper but in the end, it can be more of a chore than a dip into fun times.

Fun and frustrating

I bought this game instead of this PC expansion pack because after I installed the Sims 2 on my computer I had no more memory left on my computer. The PC one looks a lot better though. This game freezes a lot and the Create A Family thing is a joke, you can't have kids, you can't choose your pet's age, you can't choose your sim's age, you can't give your pets away as gifts, there is no adoption pool, your puppies or kittens just sit in a basket for there entire puppyhood or kittenhood, there is no way you can put in the cheat to control your pets, should I go on?

Fun, but pointless

This game doesn't have a plot like the other PS2 Sims games. It seems to only be the expansion part without any goals.

I enjoy all of The Sims games because i love the idea of building homes and purchasing items and completing goals....and i love animals as well so i figured this would be an awesome game. I was very excited at first when i created my pets and was able to have babies....and the things the animals do are so cute, even when they eat the garbage...but i also like the satisfaction of feeling like I am advancing in a game. I do enjoy the actual playing part but i play to win and i don't see where this game is going. It's fun to have pets and play in the Sim world with them but if you like playing games to see what new or exciting things will happen next this game will eventually make you want to put in on the shelf. Sorry to say it because i have every Sims game for Ps2 but this one was slightly disappointing.

The Sims Falls short...

As an avid player of the Sims games, I recieved this around Christmas last year. I still continue to play it, but there are some things about me that bother it. First, somebody decided to make it more kid-friendly and decided to put underwear on the characters when they're showering of bathing, but it's still blurred. WHY do that? It was fine before when it was blurred when they weren't wearing anything. Secondly, they took out a whole lot of items from the original on the XBox. The game is also slow on the Playstation 2 and can freeze if you're doing too much at once.

The game is enjoyable, and the graphics have become a bit better, but the underwear while bathing, the lack of more items and the lack of gestures to do like 'woo hoo' and makeout are annoying. The Pets don't really do anything interesting, which I believe was just a stunt to make more money.

It's an ok game, but it's not the best game in the world.

Addictive then Forgettable

With any Maxis game, Sims or not, when you first play its typically addictive and then eventually gets old and you move on, this is a fun game with hidden secrets that keeps your interested a bit longer than usual but the inevitable happens and the game collects dust, glad I bought it though.

ehh....

I own The Sims 2 for PS2, and i found that the graphics were pretty good for it being a Playstation game. My friend just resently bought The Sims 2: Pets, for PS2 and I found that the graphics are really bright pastel colors. For example, when you are in the creat a sim area and you choose to make your sim tan they are as orange as an Umpa Loompa. There clothing is also very pastel and bright. they have less clothes to choose from than the sims 2, but if you like dog and cat patterns on your clothes and the original patterns and colors of the items they provide you with.

when it comes to building walls and fences you have two ways to veiw it.. with a grid or without a grid. i think it is easier with out the grid because you can zoom in more.

the game seems to have over done the pet idea every thind is pet to bricks that looks like dog bones and wallpaper with cat/dog prints on it, and furniture has something on it that has to do with dog and or cats.

handling the animals that you own on the game is *imposible*! you only switch to see their health pretty much. You cannot control what they do or who they talk to. you can control your sims, though. your sims can train your pets to meet your expectations.

marrige in the game is the same exccept, you have to have 100 with your sim then click propose and no matter what mood your sim is in.. they will say yes without hessitation!

You can breed your animals. I'm pretty sure you can only breed your cats with your cats and your dogs with your dogs. the ofspring lands in your front lawn by the mail box and trash can in a little basket.

the only reason i rated this game low is because of the poor graphics and that i was dissapointed by the fact that it is only 1 player and you cant control your animals.

But if you are a pets lover and could care less for the graphics, i would recomend the game for you...
i hope this helped you.
