sims makes another addictive hit!

This game is a terrific addition to the ps2 Sims library. The graphics are the best yet, and gameplay is as addictive as ever. One reviewer complained that the game was inappropriate for young children because of the sims' use of bathrooms in the game. Well, hmm, all I can say is this latest installment of the Sims is more toned down than any of the previous Sims games, in terms of adult type behaviours, and probably the most appropriate of them yet (nothing graphic is shown anyway). So, be your own judge of that. My advise is play it yourself to "check" it out, you know, make sure it is "ok" for the kiddies, and when you are done with it, a year or so down the road, let them play with it, knowing you have done all you can as a parent to "screen" it... *grin*

My only wish is that they included more types of pets besides dogs and cats, namely horses, which I am happily addicted to. Would have been fun... sigh... but that's OK... the dogs and cats they include as pets are terrific, with very lifelike appearance and movements/mechanics. And the "genetic" variations and possibilities are huge, giving a vast array of choices.

You still get to develop your human sims as before, with jobs and various talents. Architectural choices are great and the game lets you build up each building lot almost unlimitedly before raising a fire hazard (more so than in previous games, by far), which is fun since I enjoy the "building up and buying stuff" part. So, on the whole, definitely a 5 star game in my opinion. Can't wait for what they come up with next!

ehh....

I own The Sims 2 for PS2, and i found that the graphics were pretty good for it being a Playstation game. My friend just resently bought The Sims 2: Pets, for PS2 and I found that the graphics are really bright pastel colors. For example, when you are in the creat a sim area and you choose to make your sim tan they are as orange as an Umpa Loompa. There clothing is also very pastel and bright. they have less clothes to choose from than the sims 2, but if you like dog and cat patterns on your clothes and the original patterns and colors of the items they provide you with.

when it comes to building walls and fences you have two ways to veiw it.. with a grid or without a grid. i think it is easier with out the grid because you can zoom in more.

the game seems to have over done the pet idea every thind is pet to bricks that looks like dog bones and wallpaper with cat/dog prints on it, and furniture has something on it that has to do with dog and or cats.

handling the animals that you own on the game is *imposible*! you only switch to see their health pretty much. You cannot control what they do or who they talk to. you can control your sims, though. your sims can train your pets to meet your expectations.

marrige in the game is the same exccept, you have to have 100 with your sim then click propose and no matter what mood your sim is in.. they will say yes without hessitation!

You can breed your animals. I'm pretty sure you can only breed your cats with your cats and your dogs with your dogs. the ofspring lands in your front lawn by the mail box and trash can in a little basket.

the only reason i rated this game low is because of the poor graphics and that i was dissapointed by the fact that it is only 1 player and you cant control your animals.

But if you are a pets lover and could care less for the graphics, i would recomend the game for you...
i hope this helped you.

Disapointing

I owned this game for a total of one day before I couldn't handle it anymore and traded it in for something else. This is a game that sounds like a good concept, but the end result is short of flat. It does have some neat little quirks to it though. I like the body tool and the way you can customize the sim with jewelry, tattoes, and a decent assortment of clothes. The pets can also be customized and the feature is pretty fun to play with. I had a blast designing the SIMS and their pets... but unfortunately, the game is more that that.
The actual game play was a little hard to manage and it was a little disapointing that the pets are not playable. Of course, this being a play sation version, the graphics aren't incedible but they aren't bad either. Just trying to figure out how the game works and getting a feel for the content was a bit time consuming for me and since my free time is limited, this really isn't the game for me. I love the SIMS series... but this one seems a little weak.
As I said... this is a "concept" game... one that sounds good and looks appealing on paper but in the end, it can be more of a chore than a dip into fun times.

it is a fun game

I just reasently got this game and at first I didn't like it because my character kept saying she was to depressed to find a job. This is my first SIMS game and I was just getting the feal for it. I made a new file and got better.Someone wrote a review saying this game is innapropreate because the sims use the bathroom and take showers. I don't think it is because it never shows anything. What is so bad about that? It is suppossed to be realistic isn't it? I'm 11 and I think it isn't bad. I have a friend and he got his first sims game when he was 8.

Such a Surprise!

I bought this with my birthday money and was surprised. Me and that other 11 year old are kinda alike. I'm 11 too! Yeah, it's a little inapropriate. But This is my first Sims game. My dad is really strict and won't let me plat Teen games ( Except Tony Hawk), but he didn't notice it was Teen and we got it anyway. While playing, i discovered that this game is based on real life. This game is also wicked funny! What happens when an sim meets a treadmill? Buy the game and find out!

When you get the game, this cheat will help you get anything you want!

Press L1, L1, R1, X, X, Up. A Gnome will appear. When you find the Gnome Press Up, Left, Down, Right, and R1. Stand in front of the Gnome and press X and a choice to advance 6 hours will appear. Press Triangle then enter Up, Down, Left, Right, R1 again. Press X in front of the Gnome again and advance 6 hours and give sim simoleans will appear. Keep pressing X on sim simoleans and pretty soon you will have 999,999.

Pets in Training

I played this for one hour last night and this is what I've discovered thus far from playing the tutorial. The graphics seem better than the original Sims - I have to re-learn how to use the controller and had some issues with that but haven't played in a long time either. The dog is really cute, the guy gets annoyed easily during training though and the lady got mad when she had to fill in holes that the dog dug in the yard. I love the feature of being able to choose the food - that is awesome! I wish you could make meals that can be shared though - I couldn't figure that out and thus couldn't get the lady and man to talk while they ate. I love the feature of being able to go to the park and go shopping - finally something outside of the home!!! It has been quite interesting so far and I still have a lot to learn before venturing out on my own and creating my own family.

Updated two weeks later...
I don't know whether to blame the game, my PS2 or my single memory card so I will say I am mad at them all. I invested HOURS into this games tutorial and because I couldn't play more than one scenario at a time on my memory card I finally ventured out and deleted the hours of work I'd invested in the tutorial family in order to create a family of my own...well about 45 min later after having created a family of my own in the real estate office I decided to try to move them into a house - only I couldn't do that and wound up deleting my family in the process!

I am really confused as to why this game is so complicated. Games are meant to be fun or so I thought. I own the Sims Busting Out PS2 and Xbox and have spent hours on both - getting frustrated with the endless potty breaks and necessary daily rituals...I wish that the SIMS were more graphic and could do more - technology is so much more advanced on games with high violence but not on family games - why is that??? I think you should be able to get into a car and go wherever in the town you want to go whenever you want to and if you don't want to go to work you could have sick days or something.

Things I liked on the Sims2 Pets:
Pets are fun!
Love getting out and going to the Town Central
Love to make my own food recipes and see if my Sims like it - if not they will throw it on the floor...or in the trash! ;)
Jobs change daily in the newspaper - just like in reality
They can harvest their own food
As they clean or repair things their skills go up
Training their pet helps their charisma
You earn pet points just for training or playing with your pet...which converts to money and "stuff"

Things I didn't like:
The men are UGLY
Can't create kids (my son got upset when I couldn't make him be a character in my game)
PS2 memory cards only allow one created family per card - on XBox you can switch around and I enjoyed this because it really helps to boost your friendship points in the neighborhood when you instigate their communication...
limited clothing choices that are pretty boring
the create a pets are UGLY
You can't start a pet from a puppy in create a pet :( don't you usually buy your pet when it's a puppy? How do you get puppies or kittens? Haven't figured that out yet but my animals wanted to reproduce...
Minimum amount of "stuff" to purchase

I am thinking of getting rid of this game and upgrading to Sims2 for PC instead since it gets much better reviews. Plus Sims and memory cards are not a very good mix.

Many people asked...

I noticed many people asking how can they get puppies or kittens..First you need to be you pets "friend" then you invite neighbors who have pets to your house(the pets must be of opposite sex and same species)then the pets need to interact for a while then you click on your pet and there will be the option to Try to Offspring with... Oh, and you'll need a pet house so they can go in... then the puppy or kitten arrives in a basket. They turn into adults in the same day they arrive so you only have a couple of hours to play with them.

I really like this game I always discover something new and exciting that makes me want to play more and more. I do agree that it takes some time to load everytime I cook or go to Town's square but its ok, overall its a great game.

Great!!!

I love this game! I think it is sooooo cool that you can finally have pets in a Sims game. I think nobody understands how truelly fun this game is. Nobody is patient! I mean, how would it be if YOU were the game disigners? It wouldn't be easy to make to perfect game! I think it is very realistic. I love the dogs and cats. I can't figure out how to get puppies and kittens, though. Can anybody help me? I don't like how you can only have one game at a time, so I play without the Memory Card alot.:)

I love this game!

I enjoy all of The Sims games because i love the idea of building homes and purchasing items and completing goals....and i love animals as well so i figured this would be an awesome game. I was very excited at first when i created my pets and was able to have babies....and the things the animals do are so cute, even when they eat the garbage...but i also like the satisfaction of feeling like I am advancing in a game. I do enjoy the actual playing part but i play to win and i don't see where this game is going. It's fun to have pets and play in the Sim world with them but if you like playing games to see what new or exciting things will happen next this game will eventually make you want to put in on the shelf. Sorry to say it because i have every Sims game for Ps2 but this one was slightly disappointing.
