The Conquerors is going to make a great game even better!

The 5 conqueror civs (Spanish, Hun, Korean, Aztec, and Mayan) were near misses to be put AoK in the first place. The devoplers made a great call by giving the meso-american civs (Mayan & Aztec) the Eagle Warrior, since they don't have cavalry. The Spanish's second uninque unit the Missionary is just right for them. The Korean Turle Ship rules the waves. The campaigns and new games will blow your top off. This is a must have for any RTS gamer.

Great game for anyone...

This game is one of the best games ever made... also this game makes you think a lot and that's fun... i got age of empire II and the most thing that i dont like was about the farms, but now is so easy!!! You don have to worry about the farms anymore finally!!! also includes 5 new civilizations and the villagers are more intelligents for example if they're building a lumber-camp, after build it they will go to gather wood inmediately, that's good... And also this game add a lot of things to research at the castle and the monastery... if you like Age of empires II you will like this expansion... so buy it and start play it...

I firat heard of the age of empire series when i visited my cousins. He had a laptop and a couple games on it. One of them was age of empires. It hooked me right off i thought cammand and conquer was the best RTS of them all but i was wrong. The ability to create your own civilization from the stone age to the time of the romans. Then i heard there was going to be sequel and i knew i had to get it. I was immediatly got hooked to AOK (Age of Kings). It was superior in every way to the original but it had some minor flaws such as no farm queing which complicated the economics during battles because you have to always replant farms manuelly. Not to mention some imbalances between the civilizations, Teutons were practically unstoppable. These are somewhat small complaints, and the game is extremely fun to play both on and offline, but better online against other players. Now that the Expansion pack is here the gameplay is even better since it improves on the game rather than give us more maps. One of the best improvements is the sorly missed farm queing i refered to before, now you add extra farms so it can automatically set up another right off, this saves valuable time when in battle. Another improvement is the unit AI especially the villagers once they build a resource structure they automatically start the job rather than stand around waiting for orders. All these improvements plus five new civs to choose from, the koreans are probably the strongest in my opinion, the other are spanish, aztec, mayans and the huns. overall a great expansion to an already great game. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT EMIRE EARTH LOOKS AND PLAYS LIKE!

Better then Perfect

I had played AOE 2:The Age of Kings, and thought it was perfect.
although it lacked a few things, it was amazing. So, i had to buy this. I expected the same as what I got from AOE 2. I was wrong. It was a whole lot better than the last game. Whatever areas that were not good in AOE 2 were greatly enhanced.
1. No more holiday vacations: Villagers cannot be lazy after they build lets say... A Mining camp. In AOE2, once the villager builds the mining camp, they do nothing. Nowadays, they go straight to mining.
2. Newbies rock: The new civilliztions in this game are amazing. The Spanish aren't the coolest, but they were important in history and should of been in AOE2. The Koreans have really cool special troops. The Huns are great for anyone with an offensive stratagy. The Mayans and the Aztecs are dominat in the archer catagory. Overall, the new groups rock.
3. Reality: In AOE2, the campagins were fun, but i'd easily rather play a death match. Not in the expanison. The campaigns, for some reason, are alot better than the AOE2 campaingns. Once i start i can't stop.
So, overall, anyone who is into almost any type of game(with a few exceptions), this is the gasme for u.

Essential

The original Age of Kings was a great game. Perhaps it was a bit too favorable to two of the civs (ahem Teutons and Franks), but the campaigns were still a blast. The Conquerors isn't so much an expansion pack as a complete overhaul of the game. The civs have been radically balanced (especially with the patch, available on Ensemble's website), 5 (!) new civs have been added, and a ridculous amount of new random maps are now available. I also suspect that the enemy AI has been greatly honed, but I can't really prove it-- all I know is that they're still pretty darned tough on Moderate (for Random Maps-- Campaigns no longer have the same five level difficulty system).

If you already have Age of Kings, this is definitely worth the investment. Now that both have been bundled with the original Age of Empires, however, you might want to shell out the money for the deluxe pack (AoE is a much simpler game, but still worthwhile). Every night I hope that AoE III will be as good as The Conquerers, what I consider to be the peak of the AoE universe.

I've been playing for about 4 years now ,and still love it. Custom scenario is the best ,castle blood, world risk, and grave blood are all excellent games(note there are plenty of other games to play like deathmatch, random map,and bla bla bla).Age of Empires 2 is still the best game on the shelf.Age of Empires 3 is coming soon yeaaaaaaaa!

Still one of my favorites

Even though it's a bit old, I still prefer AOE2 and the Conquerors expansion to most games on the market. Even more than AOE3. Why? It's challenging and yet possible to play a game in a single sitting. The campaigns are well-designed, educational (to some extent) and sometimes thrilling.

Unit balance is well-done and I enjoy playing as most civs, but my favorite is the Saracen. In a random game, I can use Mamelukes vs. any cavalry and most infantry and win easily. Against Teutonic Knights, though, the Heavy Cavalry Archer is the choice. It's fun to play the original AOE2 using the patches and interface of the expansion, it makes the missions very challenging. The Teutons were made weaker in the expansion so winning the original campaign under the new rules is much harder and hence more gratifying.

Newer games have come and gone but this has always had a place on my hard drive. It still looks good and overall it just can't be beat in this category.

An awsome expnasion pack laoded with goodies

The x-pack adds 5 new civilizations, awsome new units and technologies, fixes many bugs and balances the game betetr overall in Random Map play. In DM Koreans seem to be a little strong, kind of like hitites in aok, if done right by an expert you can't beat them but overall in team play you see many civilizations including turks, goths, koreans, spanish, franks, huns, britons, and celts.

A great Expansion

This is one of the best expansions, in my opinion, out there. As a hardcore Age of Empires 2 gamer, i could not wait for this game to arrive. When it did, i was very impressed. The little new things about seem trivial, but when i went back to play with some friends who dont have the Conquerors, only AoE2, i was having convulsions in not being able to automatically reseed farms, or have my villagers go striaght to the resource after building a mining camp or something. The new civilizations are very, very well balanced, though i would say the Koreans are a little to balanced :) Most new players go straight for the power house civilizations, like the Persians or Koreans but you find that skill and a not as powerful civ, like the britons, can take them down. I have heard some say that this game is mostly who gets the fastest mouse clicking will win. I agree that you need to move fast especially in Deathmatch, but as u play, it just comes along anyway. In summation, this is a great Expansion pack, and i cant wait to see what Ensemble comes out with next
