Don't believe "professional" reviews!!!

This game is nowhere near the piece of trash it is being made out to be. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Unlimited Saga has wonderful, vibrant graphics, and, although you can't move in the traditional sense, the type of exploration used is better suited for this game; without its simplicity, things could get needlessly hard or frustrating. The battle system, although disorienting at first, is well thought out and fun, and it does not take long to get used to the mechanics of it, even if the reel spins a little too fast.

All in all, this is a great game that has gotten an unfair amount of negative criticism. It is the kind of game that needs to be made every once in a while, to remind RPGers where we come from, and why we do what we do. I give this game four stars, because although I am having a great time with it so far, I am only 3:22 into it, with a claimed 100 hours total, and it would be unfair of me to judge the rest of the game when I am at such an early point.

Winner of the Most disappionting game of the year award.

ok Imagine a play. Now imagine that the costume and set designer did an amazing and beautiful job. The music in the play is also wonderful and well performed...now imagine that a family of drunken weasels wrote and performed the play....now multiply that by a value of 4...ok...this game is worse. For those of you lacking in imagination, it is pretty and sounds good but the writing is terrible, the story lines are bland, the characters are boring, and it is stupidly, joylessly difficult.

Huh?

When you first start playing, two things will enter your head 1) What's up with the...graphics? and 2) Hu-du wha???

1) Pretty soon you won't notice the graphics because you'll be too occupied trying to stay alive

2) I know, the game is extremely confusing! Don't worry though, after you read some stuff... you'll understand better, plus after you practice you'll learn to love the system of the game.

Stick with it, and the game will become unbelievably fun!

Do not make that same mistake.

I have been a long fan of RPG and this one is a throw back to the early 80's. The cinima graphics are great. To bad the actual game graphics were not the same. You don't even get to move your character around. You jump from block to block. I have game boy games that are better than this. I have only played 1 hour's worth of the game and I am going today to trade it back in today. Do not make that same mistake.

a waste of money

this is by far the worst rpg game in the history of rpg...flat graphics..no walking or talking to npc's..confusing storyline at best. How could Square make such a game and call it a rpg is beyond me!

Very Good? or Very Bad?

When i first heard the news of this game i thought the fancy title and the good looking characters would impress me. And also the fact that it is made by Squaresoft (Enix).

I read some reviews and mostly the ratings on this game were bad, but some were good.

First of all if you like the Final Fantasy series do not buy this game, the battle system isnt that good, i havent finished the game but the story doesnt seem good, and the 2D artwork without you beeing able to walk around is REALLY bad. What i mean is the only way to move is by pointing where you want to go and go. Dungeons and forest (etc...) are shown by you moving around like a board game piece so basically its like a really really long board game. Boring huh? The conversations are really boring there emotions are always the same and text is shown by bubbles. Another thing is that there are 7 main characters that are suppose to intertwine with each other or so i thought. The thing is these 7 characters dont even meet with each other. Each character has his own story which kinda [stinks] and you have to play the game 7 times to figure out what happens.

THe only reasons why i bought this game was to try something new. And because i thought it would be alright and i havent played a good RPG in a long time, and im now trading it in for store credits to buy xenosaga.

bottom line dont buy this if you like the RPGs made ever since they started making RPGs because this wouldnt even qualify as a RPG

Not Final Fantasy

This game is not Final Fantasy. When I first saw this game, I saw it was from Squaresoft, so I made my Mom give me money and bought it, and you know what? IT'S NOT EVEN A FINAL FANTASY GAME. Seriously, where are the 3D graphics? All there are are 2D graphics, and graphics are what makes games cool. So how good can a game be if the graphics aren't 3D? I've been playing Final Fantasy ever since number 7 and this is terrible. Cloud isn't even in the game.

The only thing worth buying this game for is to see the FFX-2 trailer. That game looks so cool. I love the part in the trailer where the guy flies around and plays the electric guitar. Too bad the song's in Japanese though.

Anyway, that's what I think. I'm a 14-year-old gamer and I know what I'm talking about because I've played every Final Fantasy game there is since number seven. Except number nine because the character's looked stoopid. All my friends agree with me, too.

Whats with the hating?

Why does everyone keeps hating this game, just because u don't walk around free? the game is good, graphic are excellent, not to mention the music, damn, that music, almost make me cry :').

anyway, let's get to the point, i believe people are playing unlimited saga because people wanna hate the game, at first i was confused, but then, i learned everything and OMG is damn of a good game, and the "reel" system, don't worry about it, it eventually gets fun. what I am saying here is that don't believe those people that are mocking a great game.

A match made in HELL

Know what you get when you add Square, the finest RPG company in many people's mind and Enix, the developer of the... interesting.... game Grandia X? Yes, a mtch made in hell. When you play this game.. well, if you play this game.. I'm sorry. Anyway, if you end up playing it you will realize that something not right happened when Squaresoft made a fusion with Enix. A few people defend this game because they think new is good; well I was unaware that good, in turn being new, was turning RPGs into countless menus, spinning (practically random) selection wheels, and turning the past-time of exploring into a board game. I bought this thinking how could this game be as bad as what people say? It's got the brilliant minds of Square behind it! I really should listen to people. Don, don't get this game, if you are human it will dissapoint you in SOME way I'm sure. If you own every single RPG ever made, then add this to your collection and go play Final fantasy 9... hell; play Final Fantasy 1!

Well, it's not for everyone...

...and in fact, I don't think it is for anyone. For those of you who have played games from the Saga series (Saga Frontier, Saga Frontier 2, etc.), and DIDN'T enjoy the experience, well, you should stay far away from this! However, even those of you who did like those games will probably want to steer clear of this as well.

I understand those of you who want to like this game since you sunk fifty bucks into it. I don't blame you; I was right with you. However, I feel rather duped. You see, I purchased this game at a certain electronics store which shall remain nameless. I received about a hundred emails from Square/Enix hyping this game, and indeed, the art of the game box did not suggest static gameplay and water colors. Furthermore, the store would not allow me to look at the instruction book (which is a better indicator of what the game will be like). In the end, a game which was hyped like FF and made to look like FF turns out to play like a very difficult version of Monopoly. In all honesty, this game [stinks]. And the music? Well, if I wanted beautiful classical music, I could purchase Mozart at about a fifth of the price. Shame on you, Square!

But don't blame this on Enix. Yeah, Grandia X wasn't so good, but Grandia was OK, and Dragon Warrior is still spectacular.
