I liked that you get to experience the world of the popular cartoon from within. The manufacturer really put a lot of originality and creativity into development of this game. The graphics-and especially atmospheres-were created in a way that sometimes it is fun to cancel a mission and just to drive around the town or city in either your own car or every car you admire that you can borrow from any driver on the street. Once you get comfortable with the level, it becomes fun to play; however, at the beginning the game could become very frustrating. Those who enjoy racing games might get a kick out of it; however, one must expect every mission to have a TIMER, making you either rush to an appointed area, race one of the characters to the finish line, or try to destroy enemy vehicles in the time allowed. My greatest disappointment came from near-absence of tasks where the character has to complete it "on foot" - 98% of the game you are in the various cars racing your @#$%&* out to complete the task on time; and, trust me, beautiful graphics are the least of your concern here. Anyway, the game is clearly aimed at 8 to 13 year-olds and if you can locate a used copy for $ 20-25 it would we worth buying; I believe that if you will spend any more that this, you might end up feeling frustrated from overpaying.

Best Simpsons Game Ever! Fun, Funny, and Original!

"Simpsons Hit & Run" is a downright awesome game. "Simpsons Road Rage" was pretty good, but you didn't get to actually get out of the car and explore Springfield. In TSHR, you get to do all that and more. The actors of the TV show return to record hundreds of funny but endlessly repeating quotes. There are seven episodes (neighborhood, downtown, seaside, night neighborhood, night downtown, sunset seaside, and holloween neighborhood) in the game and five playable characters (Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, & Apu). There are actually three basic levels that are reused in later episodes sometimes making things feel a bit repetitive but there are different missions in each episode. The missions basically differ but can sometimes reuse gameplay types. This can get repetitive at points, but this game is so much fun it doesn't really matter. The missions are never too insanely hard, but by the later levels don't stay extremely easy. The game plays like "Grand Theft Auto III", "Vice City", and "San Andreas" without the violence. You can still destroy stuff (and get busted by the reckless cops) but there is no blood or guns whatsoever. That doesn't prevent you from kicking random bystanders, even though there is no sane or required reason to do this. The missions are awesome and the ability to explore Springfield is just fantastic, but when it comes time to find the wasp cameras, gags, and collector cards, things can get tedious. You need to find an FAQ on the internet to prevent hours of stumbling around, looking for the annoying wasp cameras and funny yet cleverly hidden gags. The cards are easier to find and are spottable from the street level, but gags and wasp cameras require scrutinizing every inch of the world thrown at you in this videogame. It seems like the cons are endless, but the fun to be had in this game is undescribable. I have replayed this game over and over again from mission 1 in episode 1 to mission 7 in world 7. Even though my defective copy of the game corrupts my memory card every five worlds, I resave and continue my endless fun. I love The Simpsons and this game is chocolate for Simpsons fans and Adventure fans alike. Though stuff can get repetitive, who cares? This game is downright awesome. Buy it, because now it's nice and cheap. I have the game on Gamecube and the graphics are wonderful (it's a cartoon!) and so are the controls. I have heard that the PC/Mac version has installation problems with Direct X, so buy it on the consoles. Buy it now or you'll miss out on the best Simpsons game ever.

Greatest game ever

If you like The Simpsons you will not want to miss out on this game. It is incredibly good. It is like a simpons version of grand theft auto without the guns. The graphics and sounds are excellent. You get to be Homer,Bart,Lisa,Marge,And Apu. Plus the game has about 18,million laughs. And i didn't even get past the first level! One time i walked into Apu's shop and some guys were stealing stuff. And if your mom/dad is worried about it being teen it is for Comic Mischeouf (graghics as in homer in underwear in underwear)Violence (kicking and running over people but no blood) mild language, words like ass (asswhole and other words to add on to ass) dumb bad words like (moron and idiot) So if your mom/dad won't let you get it show them this. When i saw what it was rated teen for i was worried. But it is so little i ended up getting it. so gamers you dont want to miss this.

Well, that's what Comic Book Guy would say about the game, anyway- and he would be wrong. This game is easy to pick up and have fun with, but has tons to do, is difficult to master the controls, and has many unlockable items. In other words, it has everything a new gamer or a hardcore gamer could want. For any Simpsons fan, this is a must have. Thanks to the creators of this game for putting out such a solid title on Gamecube- we need more of these!

Very fun...with a tiny bit of dissapointment mixed in.

I just got this last weekend and I am on level three already (Lissa's level.) I haven't been playing very much, its just easy for me. O.K. on with the review, This is a very awsome game. You start out playing as homer and you must complete some easy little tasks for your nieghbors and family. Then you move on to playing as Bart in a new area, The city, you do the missions there and then bart gets abducted. You then play as lissa in a simpsons style hollywood, there is even the springfield sighn instead of the hollywood sign.
The areas are huge, the jokes funny but repetative and the gameplay smooth.
You can be chased by police but the most violent thing you do is kick someone.(or blow your car up.)
The cons:
Screwy camera
Repetative missions and quotes...nothing else really.
Pluses:
Good graphics, REALLY AWSOME GAME OVERALL, good music and you don't have to do missions you can just explore and destroy and have fun.
Oh and the multyplayer...well lets say don't buy it for that particular experience.

A must have for fans of simple to play/difficult to beat games!

Ah. The teenage years. The years when I could waste excessive hours playing video games without a worry in the world.

Fast forward to the year 2005, and I just don't have that kind of time anymore. I need games that don't take hours of training time to play.

The Simpsons Hit and Run is the perfect game for players looking for this kind of gameplay. Like the TV show, this game is a parody/satire of the Grand Theft Auto series. In each level, you race, search, run errands, spy, etc. This format tends to get repetitive as you progress through the levels, but with the variety of cars you gain access to, and the increasing difficulty of the game, it is pretty easy to ignore the limited scope of missions across each level.

Like Grand Theft Auto, and the legendary Karmageddon II, The Simpsons Hit and Run can be played with the intent of accomplishing the missions and earning stats, or with the simple intent of enjoying a fluid and lightning paced driving game. Throw in story writing from the actual writers of The Simpsons, and you have a game worth your dollars for both the collector's and the replay value.

If you occasionally or frequently itch for action packed racing with flawless gameplay, but don't have the time or the motivation to play a dynamic, highly-involved title, pick up The Simpsons Hit and Run. The gameplay will have you racing like a pro right away, while the difficulty level will have you burning rubber for endless hours.

The Simpsons:Hit & Run is what us loyal fans have been waiting for, Grand Theft Auto/ True Crimes:Streets of LA/ Simpsons put in a blender and bam! This game is vast, exapanding from Evergreen Terance to even the pond next to the power plant, which is inhabited be three-eyed fish. Your can command such lovable characters as Apu, Lisa, Homer, and Bart; also that rude fat guy from the comic store. The story has no true path, which as we all no is what makes the show great. The game has many side tracks like racing for the DMV with Patty and Selma. The game is not very difficult so less serious gamers can enjoy it but, it is still entertaining for the expert players. I would recommend this game as a must buy to faithful Simpson followers and definitly worth renting if not buying even if you have no clue who Apu is.

Pretty good game!

I like this game as much, maybe better, than Road Rage. Being able to get out of the car and explore (which is how you find stuff) is great. We've been through all the levels and there are only a few missions I'm having a hard time completing. The races are pretty easy at first, but they get harder. Sure you can hit stuff and run over people but if you do it too much, you're charged with "hit & run" and the cops come after you. If you can evade them, great, otherwise you get money taken away from you. I like the graphics, and the controls are pretty easy to master. My only complaint about this game is the camera view. You can control it to some extent with the C stick when you are outside of the car, but not while you're driving. It got aggravating sometimes because I couldn't always see where I was going at first.

A fun, quite annoying game.

A Simpsons fan will enjoy this game for a few days. The game takes place in a very realistic 3-d world of Springfield. You can drive around town and explore at your own pace. But, then there's an actual game with missions that takes place. Bart gets abducted by space aliens, and the family works hard tracking him down. You take turns as Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge and Apu repeating virtually the same missions over and over again. The game is fairly hard, and quite frustrating. Going to all the different places in Springfield is very fun, but the mission's are a pain in the neck. Especially when you come real close, and miss, and have to do the whole thing over again. The game's cheap now, so it's worth a pick up. But, play just to drive around and explore the town. The vehicles are fun and fast, and if you get bored, actually play the game.

Simpsons: Hit & Run isn't as great as detailed by other reviewers here. I would go further to say that I only recommend it for true Simpsons fans. If your not a fan, you probably won't enjoy this much.

The graphics are pretty good and Springfield is created in detail matching the classic TV show, down to the treehouse in the Simpson's back yard and the Flaming Moe's at Moe's Tavern. It's all here - the Power Plant, the elementary school, and one scenario in a Malibu Stacy-inspired city on the ocean complete with palm trees. But if you're not a fan, this detail won't mean much.

The game is basicly a racing game with a variety of vehicles to drive including the Simpson family sedan and Groundskeeper Willie's tractor. But the storyline makes little to no sense and no effort was made to make the character's mouths match the dialog even remotely.

There are more that 3 levels, but after level 3 they repeat, only with different characters. This wouldn't be that bad except that secrets & hidden things from the first 3 levels are copied as well, so it gets boring. So it seems like on level 4 you are replaying level 1 again. If I wanted to do that, I'd go back and play level 1 again.

Also, the game save/load options could be improved. It would be nice if you could label a saved game so you can tell your's from other family members' - maybe by entering initials or a few characters. You save them on a memory card, so it wouldn't have been a big deal.

So the results are mixed. I'm a Simpson fan, so for at least the first 3 levels I was entertained. But when level 4 came around and there was nothing new, I felt gypped. If your not a Simpson's fan - or not sure someone is whom you're buying it for - then stay away. Rent it or borrow it for a week. If you are a fan, I'm still not sure this is the best use of your money. Buy a Simpsons DVD set for the same money - you may enjoy it more.
