A great game, but has some major drawbacks...

This game really deserves 3.5 stars, but since I can't do that I decided that there is no way it is worthy of the full 4 stars. Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee is really just a
3-D Super Smash Bros. with Godzilla characters. This makes it great with friends and at parties, but it is not nearly as fun by yourself, and like the SSB games, can get EXTREMELY repetitive. The character graphics are great, but the layouts are bland and boring...except for a few landmarks, they really are all the same. Despite this, the characters are awesome...what could be better than fighting with Godzilla and all his...erm, "buddies." However, unlocking new characters is extremely hard. This also has to be one of the most frustrating games I have ever seen. At some points the monsters you are facing are so much stronger to the point that it is truly impossible to fight back. This is probably a better rent than buy, but since it is selling for so cheap right now it is good enough that you might as well have it.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monstaers Melee is awesome!! Not only does it have TWO Godzillas as playable characters (Godzilla 90's and Godzilla 2000), but it also has Anguirus, Rodan, Gigan, King Ghidorah, Mecha-King Ghidorah, Destroyah, Mechagodzilla, Megalon, and Orga!!! That's ELEVEN different monsters to play with! It's so cool to be able to play as Godzilla and destroy Tokyo! Here are the modes:
1. Versus: 1-on-1 match.
2. Adventure: Story mode, defeat Mechagodzilla to win.
3. Destruction: DESTROY A CITY!!!
4. Melee: Fight to earn points.
5. Team Battle: 3-4 players battle in teams.
This is one of the best game for Gamecube! The only bad thing is that you can't play as Mechagodzilla 3 like you can in the Xbox version. Other than that it's the BEST!!! Buy this!!

Godzilla has won, repeat, Godzilla has won.

I am ..., the biggest video gamer and(more importantly), Godzilla fan EVER!!!(Hear me roar)Anyway, I'm hear to tell you about Godzilla:Destroy All Monsters Melee. I can't get enough of Godzilla. So naturally, when I heard about it I knew I had to at least try it. Later on, I got the GBA version, and I liked that. But boy, I was surprised at all the realism of the Game Cube version. It had 11(maybe 12 or 13!)monsters, whereas the GBA version only had 6. And the Game Cube version looked REAL, where the GBA version looked like pictures. The character monsters are:
Godzilla 90s
Godzilla 2000(my favorite)
King Ghidora
Rodan
Angulus
Mechagodzilla
Mecha-King Ghidora
Destroyah
Gigan
Megalon
Orga
Rumored monsters are:
Godzilla 80s
Spacegodzilla
Power-Up, ect. monsters are:
Mothra(grrr)
Hedorah
Some people have said the plot for Adventure Mode is unoriginal. PEOPLE, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE UNORIGINAL! AND IT'S FUNNY! Kssshhh... "Attention all humans. We are the Vortex, alien invaders from a distant galaxy. We possess an intelect and technology far supperior to your own. We have plundered the recources of the planet you call Earth and used them for our own purposes. It's what we do. You are instructed to the nearest outpost for proccesing. Oh, and to encourage your cooperation, we have seised control of your Monster Island facility and unleashed all of your monsters with our powerful mind rays. Not even your most powerful monster can escape our mind rays and defeat the others. ...Oh, am I still on? Well, now we return you to whatever you were doing." Kssshhh "Idiots." Now who can't like that? And you know, there's something about that radioactive fire breath that pleases the soul. ...

A game that does Godzilla justice!

A horrible American movie based on Godzilla made the poor lizard's reputation go down to rock bottom. Than came Godzilla 2000 which was a so-so Godzilla flick made by the true Godzilla people. The Japanese Godzilla films were some of the best camp sci-fi films. And now Godzilla gets a game made on the original films with all of Godzilla's pals and enemys. Godzilla is definetly a cult classic which was begging for a great game. The cities are fully interactive with tanks shooting at you, flying saucers, and if you get crashed into a building it falls down. You can grab buildings and throw them at your opponet.

A MUST for any Godzilla fan

It's about as close to feeling like Godzilla that you will probably ever come. This game looks and sounds cool as hell.

I have my Gamecube hooked up to my stereo receiver, hearing Godzilla's roar coming through my speakers gave me goosebumps!

I am 35 years old and a mild Godzilla fan. My nephews who are 8 and 10 also really enjoyed this game.

MORE monsters would have been nice, other than that the game is about perfect. Maybe they are saving room for Godzilla Melee 2?

I can only hope.

When you first see this game think it might not be whorth your time. But you are wrong. This game, although slow in pace of each beast excluding Rodan, is a solid alround fun buy. The sounds are all spot on to the classic films. And what can be more fun than laying the smack-down on a poor unscepecting city. Wheather it be LAX or Big Ben, its just plain fun to destroy cities, there's even an antire mode dedacated on distroying a city of your choice. This game even upholds its goofy look of thier rubber suited counter parts; slice a foot: the monster shows its pain by hopping on one foot, holding its smited one! With a corny plot, excellent graphics that mimic the films' look, good gameplay this is a fun and good buy, even though all monsters, and areas can be unloked in an hour and a half.

GameCube owners are in for a treat because Godzilla is here. It dosen't matter if you like him or not, you'll still most likely enjoy his game. For a single player title, Godzilla is fun and dosen't get boring fast. For a multi player title, Godzilla offers basicaly endless, mindless fun for you and your friends. It's more entertaining then Super Smash Bros. Melee, and offers more of a gritty battle system. ... Godzilla is timelessly entertaining and is a much better buy than War of the Monsters, it is the best moster fighter out there. Not one you want to miss.

The game that will please Godzilla fans and gamers alike.

Godzilla Destroy All Monsters is a fun, and incredibly well made game. As long as I have played it, I have never encountered any major flaws whatsoever. There are few things I could think of that I would rather do than invite some friends over and throw then around tokyo.

One of the nice things about the game is the view. It moves in relation to the monsters and adds a cinematic feel without hampering your movement at all. It also is able to keep your line of sight clear from obstacles. Especially is Versus mode, the adds a really nice touch.

Another great thing is that any monster can thrive anywhere. It doesn't matter if you are surrounded by skyscrapers or in an open plain. This is really nice, seeing that you can never have somebody complain that they were at a disadvantage.

One of the really cool moves in this game is the ability to pick up an enemy monster. This move is risky, being that you have to get within severe punching range, but, executed correctly, it can be easy, and very rewarding. Also, every monster can picked up just as easily as any other. The tiniest guy can pick up the biggest and vice-versus with equal ease.

The game combat system is one of the best ever created. With only a few buttons, it allows for a vast array of moves. Once you have learned how to play, It is very easy, even in the heat of battle, to execute the move you want.

Aside from duking out your friends, there is the Adventure mode. The story is perfectly Godzilla cheesy, and just gives you a reason to smash your opponent. Adventure mode is very fun and challenging. It is fast enough to complete in one sitting, I completed it my first time in 27 minutes. Defeated Adventure mode unlocks a new monster. When you beat it with the new monster you get even another one. And so-on down until you have them all.

Overall an excellent game, and probably one of the best of its time. It was worth every penny.
