Great Game But For The Glitches

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 1 / 3
Date: December 26, 2005

"Whiplash" is a truly entertaining and creative game. The graphics are detailed and the sound effects, including the voice work is top-notch and quite amusing. The controls are easy to learn and there are plenty of areas to explore to keep the gamer's interest.

That was the good, now for the bad: This game is so filled with glitches that the frustration factor is off the scale. It locks up constantly and you are left resetting time and time again. This problem totally ruins the game. Rent it before buying.

Best game ever!

The only complaint I have about this game is the glitches. But being stubborn, I went back and saved alot, keeping a few files. If you do that, you shouldn't have any problems. It's non-stop comedy w/ Redmond the sarcastic bunny - in gameplay and during the cutscenes. The more you break, the more the damage amount goes up, so break EVERYTHING! A great message for everyone to knock out those nasty animal-testing humans. Save alligators, eels, monkeys, skunks, a chihuahua, hamsters, it never ends. Beat up security guards and scientists and stomp on them! This company needs to do a follow up -(doesn't even have to be same characters!). This is a must buy. I'd buy everyone a copy if I could!

featuring very few enemies, you'll find yourself running to deactivate something most of the time. there are only around 40-50 enemies in the game, and compare that to ratchet and clank's 100s

Such a great game....why the glitches??

This game is sooo good. Right up there with Spyro! Very funny especially the bunny Redmond who is your sarcastic weapon. Problems started for me when I started to collect the security cards. The blue balls in the ceiling are supposed to drop so you can swing up and they never did. I started over, and this time, in "waste", the second lock to the incerator wouldn't open even after i pushed the button. I started over again and when it happened again, i kept hiting the button and finally the incinerator opened. Finally, I got to tha part where you race to turn off the alarms. There are 3. I forgot where the third one was and din't reach it in time. It started me over with one to go, but no matter how many times I pushed it, it didn't work. Then, times runs out and life over. That's when I got angry. I see that this happened to someoen else, one other person in the reviews. I had been wondering if my game was defective. I am going to e-mail the company. I REALLY love this game and I am sad that I can't finish it without glitches.

Sure its not the best graphic PS2 has to offer but its still fun and funny. My wife bought the game to play it on our sons PS2 and I thought the idea was kinda corney at first but once we started playing with it it turned out to be fun and I can see how some of you serious gammers wouldnt wanto put it on the best sellings list because of the antics and graphics of the game but if you looking for something family oriented, fun and funny then Whiplash is the one for you.

Whiplash: An Unfortunate Accident

The first half-hour of "Whiplash" ushers the player into a seemingly new and exciting world of mischief and madness as Spanx the weasel feverishly flails the vociferous Redmond the rabbit in every which way during their escape from the animal testing labs of Genron. Sadly, the same senseless button-mashing is all it takes to progress through an otherwise bland, repetitive game.

Following the introduction of Spanx and Redmond, the player is unleashed upon the Genron staff and laboratories and is encouraged to destroy all that lay in their path. While the promise of the systematic destruction of an oppressive, animal testing corporation sounds like a lot of fun, the game becomes extremely repetitious as each "new" level changes very little from the last.

In addition to lacking gameplay, the graphics and sound leave a lot to be desired. Jagged polygons and flat backgrounds fill each level as the same sound effects are continually repeated as the Genron facilities are obliterated. Granted, Redmond's various comments about the mistreat of animals and his pending reports to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (P.E.T.A) do offer a nice change of pace as the garrulous rabbit is swung into various pieces of equipment and gaggles of employees.

In short, "Whiplash" is the ideal game for someone looking forward to countless hours of random button-mashing with little strategy. If you are looking for a game with more substance, "Whiplash" is probably not the best choice.

FIRST OFF, I HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GAME YET.
Second off, I rated this game based on what its average rating was in the first place, in order to keep from changing its status.

THE ONLY REASON I AM WRITING THIS NOW IS SO YOU MAY REALIZE THAT THIS GAME IS RATED 'T' FOR TEEN.

**NOT THE 'E' FOR EVERYONE THAT THE PRODUCTS PICTURE SHOWS.**

I will write another review after I have had some time to play the game, and decide if it is appropriate for my 2 kids (8yrs, and 11yrs).

wild, crazy and really fun

Jak 2? Ratchet and Clank? Do they have a crazed weasel chained to an indestructible bunny bestowing havoc on an evil animal testing corporation? I think not, but Whiplash! certainly does.

So you've just been set loose in an animal testing facility after three long years of experiments, the catch is your a weasel and you have a loud mouthed bunny chained to you. What do you do? Well you destroy everything in sight! Scientists, security guards, and hazmat hunters in your way? No problem just start swinging around that bunny and presto problem solved. What better way to get back at the corporation that performed countless experiments on you? Destroy EVERYTHING! Sending them into bankruptcy and freeing lots of other animals. Just to add to the fun, a lot of the freed animals help you by attacking their
former captors. There is just something fun about beating people and the surroundings silly with a rabbit, that keeps it from ever getting old or repetitive.

The graphics are well done, by keeping a cartoony feel to the game. The animations are also very nice, and the attack animations never cease to bring a smile to my face. The sound effects are top notch, as you can hear every footstep of the maniacal weasel exploring and destroy the facility. It even has a neat background musical score, complete with 'real' elevator music. While the visual and audio effects are not especially stunning, they do compliment the humor and fun of the game fantastically.

What really makes this game great, is it is hilarious. The cinematics are at times hysterical. Many times I found myself extremely excited to trigger another cinematic, because I couldn't wait to find out what zany humor would come up next. Redmond's (the rabbit) wise cracks throughout the game are always entertaining, and they did a good job of not being too repetitive.

The gameplay is excellent, mainly because breaking things with a weasel and a rabbit never gets old. It's also very cool using the rabbit in very interesting ways (there's a couple instances involving a toilet!) to solve puzzles and progress through the game. Basically the bunny is quite an amazing creature, that is constantly tormented by the psychotic weasel in their desperate attempt to escape.

Overall, an excellent choice for purchase. There isn't another game out there like this one. So if you like to be entertained by slightly zany humor, and the idea of causing mayhem with two very unlikely heroes interests you, pick this game up.
