An OK game but waaaay too short

I bought this game because I was really little when I first saw DBZ and I dont remeber any of it...of course I was a complete and total idiot because I didn't know they were showing all of the sagas again... I'm usually quite bad at these games, but it took me 4 hours 10 min. to complete the game...with doing all of the quests they threw in. The basic story line is that you are Goku. You can fly and you can send out ki blasts, but the problem with flying is that you have to find these items to permit you to fly. Another problem is that you die SO easily at the begining, a wolf can kill you. You have to fight your enemies to grow levals and become more powerful. I have two hints get up to leval 11 before you fight Raditz and get up to the final leval (25) before you fight the Ginyu Force. You don't have to, but it is MUCH easier to win that way. Well, Its an ok game because it is too short and they added in too much crap.

Short game, fighting is 2 and a half stars...

Okay, here's the "scoop"... I saw this game at a local store near where I live, and, liking the DBZ series as much as I do, I spent my hard-earned money and bought it on impulse... the game starts out while you are talking to all of your friends from Dragonball. After you walk around the very small island in a pointless quest picking up dirty mags for Roshi, Radditz comes and steals your son, Gohan. You call Nimbus and fly over to an island. There you fight crabs for experience, and eventually come to a town where you have some more dirty work to do... you have to save a boy's toy boat, get some flowers for a little boy who has a crush on a girl, and some other boring stuff... in the forest you have to do some other not-so-dirty work... saving an old man from an island, saving a dinosaur's egg, and some other stuff... but anyway after that you end up fighting Radditz, going to King Kai's planet, going to earth to fight Vegeta and Nappa, then you go to Namek and do a temple quest and then fight Frieza.
Here's how you fight: you walk, yes WALK (they could've at least given Goku running animation to make you feel like you're going faster) around trees and rocks and shoot off ki blasts when you get the chance. Or if you feel cheap just use solar flare from the other side of the rock (since the AI is so incredibly stupid), run over, and punch the enemy a few times, then run back and repeat... or if you feel REALLY cheap hit the fly button RIGHT before the enemy's ki blast hits you and when you touch down you are invincible.
All-in-all, it's a mediocre-to-okay game, which will give you about three hours of gameplay the first time around (as opposed to say... Golden Sun,which has 20+ hours, or, what the heck, Final Fantasy X, which has 60+ hours...). I would only advise getting this game if you MUST have a DBZ game... though they should at LEAST lower the price ...

A dream come true!!!!!! Super Punch......Energy Beam......

...Personaly...I LOVE DBZ!!! This is an exellent game. The music comes from the actual show wich should be an ear opener to many fans. The beautiful and amzing graphics make me want to leap 1,000 feet into the air. This is a must buy for anyone who is looking for a great buy. The game is cut off into three sagas wich come from the show. Along the way are side quest wich allow you to build up your abillities. Overall, even if you aren"t a fan of the show or previous games....YOU MUST BUY THIS AMAZING AND EXCELLENT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DBZ...arguably the best show on television! But the question is will this new GBA game be held up to the same standards? I say yes...despite the fact Bulma's in it...! Amazing graphics! Actual power level control and fight scenes! This live-action game is released May 15, 2002. My only complaint is the "E" rating...! We all know that DBZ uncut is, so, PG-13! Oh well! No matter...I give this game 5 out of a possible 5!

This is the absolutly best game ive ever played
You start out on master roshies Island and ratitz kidnaps gohan
then goku and piccolo team up. They go and find ratitz and literaly kicks his [REAR]. [Rear] picolo dont help the player any until the computer takes over.
Then you travel snakeway and journey to King Kies planet and train with him. after you complete his tests he teaches you the kame ha me ha wave. Then you travel back to Earth and fight the sayans Vegeeta and Napa. Goku Loses against Vegeeta and the camputer takes over and gohan beats the krap out of him. Then you journey to the planet namek and fight the ginu force and frieza but when you fight frieza after you defeat the ginu force you transform into a SUPER SAYEN and fight him. When You win the Game is over. Even though the game does not follow the story line that good It is still the best game ive ever played so I give it 5 stars out of 5

This game was ok but u mostly spend time killing snakes, wolves, dinos. Also u get exp by talking and killing which takes lots of time, another is u have a limit to fly. The graphics r good but the game is short I beat it in hours. But it is OK.

Let's lay it out straight: This game was a waste of my money. I am a big fan of DBZ and jumped at the fact that they were finally making a new game for the GBA. I was extremely dissapointed when I beat the game in less than 3 hours. Without a strategy guide, or any outside help.
I'll admit, this game was looking really good when I bought it: It was fun (even more fun if you follow DBZ and know what's going on), good sound, definately a piece of eye candy, but there were too many faults. Mostly, it was too short and too easy. Even a player new to the genre would breeze through the game. The enemies and puzzles (the few that there were) were a let down.
Overall, this game is worth renting. You'll beat it in a day or two, and hell, it sure beats paying ($) for it.
Graphics- 9/10 (Very sweet)
Sound- 7/10 (Good, but could've been improved upon)
Gameplay- 5/10 (Fun. Definately fun. But short)
Replay Value- 1/10 (What replay value? There is none in this game, IMO)
Overall- 6/10 (As before, worth renting, but not buying)

I look forward to perhaps another attempt at a DBZ game, maybe a better one next time?

Don't expect too much.

I expected more. For a 32-bit game and machine, it really did not deliver. If you're a die-hard DBZ fan, you would be perturbed that Goku does NOT learn the Kamehameha (Turtle-style energy blast) from Master Roshi, but instead from King Kai. There are only 3 energy moves in this game (Ki blast, Solar flare, and Kamehameha). The fighting, unlike classic RPGs (turn-based strategy), consists of real-time running, dodging, and hitting. This could be explained because you only control and fight with Goku, and possibly because Infogrames was lazy in setting up a specific fighting mode within the RPG itself.

Unless you consider yourself a pack-rat, don't buy this game. Rent it, and finish it in a day.

If for some reason, any Infogrames Entertainment game designers are reading this: Please, for your next installment in the DBZ game-line, change the fighting style to turn based strategy with an entire team fighting, instead of the real-time fighting as seen in this one. I understand this will be more troublesome, but this will make gameplay much more interesting.

If it's Dragonball it's good!

This is a very good game to play, but it didn't follow the storyline good. First he learns solar flare from tien and he learns kamehameha from master rosi when he was a boy. besides that the rest of the game was fun. my opnion is that radiz is the hardest guy in the game and the ginyu squad is the easiest guys in the game. The hardest part for me was finding the artifacts. All dragonball z fans should get this game.
