Nice graphics but to difficult for young players

We bought this game for our four year old who just received a gameboy for christmas. The dragontale characters are one of her favorites. Her face lit up when she saw she could control Cassie, but when she started to play she got frustrated with the time limitation. The game is written for 3- 5 years old, but the time limitation giving to complete a level is not long enough for beginner gamers. My six year old tried to to show his sister that she just needed to practice, but even he is not able to advance past the six level. He has been a gameboy player for two years now and has become a gamer expert for his age. If he can't beat it, no three or four year old will be able to in my opinion. The nice thing is you can play the lower levels over and over and try to gather more berries with each try. My daughter still likes it because of the characters, but she doesn't play it very long.

My 5yr old got just got his first game boy and I thought that this would be perfect for him. How disappointed we were. I wish I had read the other reviews before we wasted our money on this one. It was very difficult to move around..and even I had trouble trying to get to the other levels. Please spend your money on something else.

Can Your Kid Read?

Our two kids (4 & 6) love the TV show Dragon Tails and were thrilled getting their fist Gameboy’s with one of the games being Dragon Wings. If your child can read at about a third or fourth grade level then they are candidates for this game. If they can’t read then don’t waste your money on this game. They will have more fun with your [price] if you throw it on the kitchen table with a box of crayons and let them color it! What a waste of money! The other reviews of Dragon Wings give you an excellent over view of this Gameboy game. Take their advice and pass on this on if you have little ones. Good idea, bad game.

Only one activity which is too difficult & teaches nothing.

Relative to my kids' adoration of the television show and to the lessons taught there, this was a most disappointing purchase. In preparation for an overseas flight, I bought my 4 1/2 year old a Game Boy and 3 games (to be shared with her 2 year old brother). The kids enjoyed watching Cassie and Ord for a few minutes (compared to the other games, this was NOTHING). However, they were most frustrated in teaching the dragons to fly. When they used this game, I spent my time soothing frustration tantrums and bailing them out of the game (which was NOT my intent for the overseas flight).

There was only one activity: flying lessons. This was so disappointing. Compared to the other games which had multiple activities and some preschool skill development, this game was a waste. Additionally, the colors on the initial pages of the game are very dark and difficult to see.

I feel like the software authors lost a real opportunity to engage children in learning while they play with some of their favorite characters.

Dragon Tales: Dragon Wings can be frustrating at times, but can be fun all the same. I have to say the age recomendation is kinda off and should be for slightly older players, I even had a slightly hard time playing it on some of the levels! But there are many qualities to the game though. For instance it teaches a young child to follow directions to accomplish a goal, and teaches a child how to use a Gameboy Color. Some wonderful features about the game inculde choosing between Ord or Cassie as characters to control in the game. Also there are 3 levels of difficulty easy, medium, or hard depending on how skilled your child maybe, and for each level there are 3 kinds of trophies to get apon complishion of a level which are bronze, silver, and gold. With each new level your child learns more and more actions to do with the dragons and eventually they must use multiple tasks in a level to get the job done which lets them use what they have learned to do. My 4 year old got this for Christmas and was thrilled when she seen it was Dragon Tales, but with the time limitation she is not able to play it. The game is very cute, but the easy level needs to have no time limit or the time limit needs to be longer. I even have a hard time.

Lots of fun!

I bought this game for my 5 yr old daughters birthday, she's using it on a GBA she also got as a gift for her birthday. My 8 yr old has also tried this game on her GBC and she said it was the most fun she'd ever had with a game. Both of my daughters were thrilled to add this game to their collection.

Time attack mode too difficult for kids, but fun for others

It's a fun game to play, but they forgot one thing: the time attack mode switch. It's always on, which makes the game too difficult for younger, inexperienced kids. The only way for them to enjoy this one would be using a Game Genie or Game Shark. However, it's a pretty nice game after the first four levels. The levels of difficulty only pertains to the "coasting" effect, nothing else. Small maps, but the time attack mode makes them big. The character art makes it interesting, you get to see more of it on level 4 and beyond.

Dragons Are Horrific

First of all, as you can tell by the cover, this is not a game for children. It is a terrifying adventure that chronicles the bloodthirsty nature of fire-blowing, flesh-munching reptilian beasts solely out for the destruction of mankind.

Also it teaches multiplication tables and first level French.

I can only recommend this for children over 19. I was going to say 18-year-olds could handle it, but then I remembered the gruesome scenes with the pink dragon and the Pond of Enchantment.

Not for the faint of heart.
