Waaaay Better than boogie

Fun for the whole family, accessbible and challenging. The soundtrack is the best! Multiplayer is also fun! My only gripe is that we didn't have an option to use the dance pad. That would've made it perfect. But a great rhythm game!

Great game!

We bought this game for our kids for Christmas and I am the one playing it. The kids play too, but i am hooked on it already. There is no dancing like dance dance revolution or anything like that, but it's still fun. You use your arms mostly and follow the arrows. there are some little dances you do, but nothing big and nothing that is going to teach anyone to dance or get exercise from. I played it a lot yesterday and my arms are feeling it a little today. The judges give their thoughts about how well you did and they also score you just like on the show. It's a fun game and i'd recommend it.

Dancing with the Couch Potatoes!

I rec'd this game yesterday from my boyfriend because he knows I love working out to Dance, Dance Revolution on the X-box. I was really hoping the Dancing With The Stars game would come with a dance pad so I could pretend to really dance, but alas, it does not. Mostly, you are working your hand-eye coordination, and I highly doubt you can lose as many calories as on the X-Box dance pad, but all in all, a VERY enjoyable game!

not what I expected

I wasn't really sure what to expect from the game, but I watch the show and I am a big fan, so I thought it might be fun. It is a little harder than I expected and most of it is done with the remotes and arrows in the direction you are supposed to move. I thought maybe the dance pad would be a part of how to play and also you are so focused on the arrows, you can't even see the dancers move. It is ok, just not what I thought it would be.

Buyers remorse....

I am new to the whole game system world.. but I know fun when I see it... or in this case, play it. I love my Wii...but I am having serious buyers remorse after buying Dancing with the Stars. I was looking for a way to have fun and learn the Mambo, samba etc... The most you do on this game is move your hands up and down or back and forth. The rest of the time it is hand eye coordination only... I am already over this game.

Its a good game, silly and fun.

I've never seen the show, so I didn't really know what to expect when I played this. But my friend said it was kind of fun, so after playing it at her house, I got it as a gift.
First of all, I'd like to point out that many people on here are upset because they get the game home only to find out its not actual dancing and it's not compatible with the dance pad. Well of course it's not, it says on the back of the box it uses the wiimote and the nunchuck.
Here is how the game play works..it has a feel of guitar hero as in, theres a spot that is your action and you do the move as it scrolls across into this area. You basically move the wiimote or nunchuck, up down left or right, when it hits the center on beat. Or you have special moves you do like the twist, mash potato, wave, macaranas, stir it up, locomotion, etc. As you play each couple dances 4 songs, and then you unlock other couples. The judges judge you, on amature you need 20 points to move to the next level, and on professional you need 24 points to move to the next level.
Its fun, its not dancing at all. But its fun and silly.

Would be better with a Dance Pad

I would give this 3 1/2 stars if there was a half star.
I bought this game because I wanted a change from the sports game that came with my Wii. Plus I wanted a game with some dance music. This delivered both. We played with this over the Christmas holidays and my 40 year old son who doesn't usually like to dance ended up dancing with with this game which surprised me and he did very well (which didn't surprise me--he is my son!!!). It is a fun game and gets you moving most of the upper part of your body (with some arm waving and some twisting) you can end up using your feet even if there isn't anything on the Wii screen that follows your feet. It mimics the real TV show with ratings from the judges (1-10 just like on TV). I think the addition of a dance pad would really make this game a lot more fun and if it had that I would give it 4 1/2 stars. It WILL get you off the couch.

Very Fun Game!!!

This game is very fun, and somewhat resembles the show. You have to move the remote and the nunchuk as the icons come up on the screen in the direction they tell you to move it (the remote or nunchuk) in. You also have to do gestures, such as the twist. At the end of each dance, the judges give you comments and give you your scores. This game is very good, though it is hard at first to get your hands moving the right way. You can play on two modes, amateur or professional, which makes the game longer. My friend and I also had lots of fun playing cooperatively on multiplayer. On multiplayer, you may also go head-to-head. Overall, I thought that this game was really fun.

My brother bought this for me for Chritmas 2007 and the whole family really enjoyed it, even the kids! Like another review I was disappointed there was not more physical movement involved, but over all it is fun.

great gift for 9 year old girl

This game was a birthday gift for a 9 year old girl and she has loved it. The complexity of the moves is just right for her Wii skills--she can move up levels consistently so it's not too easy and not to hard for her game playing abilities. The moves required by the game are mainly arms, but she really gets into it dancing around the living room. It doesn't seem like a game and older child or adult would enjoy as much.
