Throwing any sense of historical accuracy out the window (other than real names), GUNFIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF JESSE JAMES is a quick-paced shoot-em-up video game. The game was originally an arcade game and therefore isn't quite as entertaining as a personal video game. Nevertheless, the game is still fun if you enjoy old fashioned shooting games.

The plot of the game revolves around Jesse's girl, Zee, being kidnapped. He chases the kidnappers out of town, to a mine, and on a moving train. The last level takes place in town and the game concludes with a showdown between the evil Jack Carson and Jesse James.

The game has two major flaws. First, in order to beat the game, you have to beat every level without using up all of your continues or starting over. You cannot save a game, quit it at level three and restart it at that point. That is rather frustrating. The other major flaw is that the clock ticks away even when Jesse isn't involved in a gunfight (except during the cut scenes). Other than that, the game is a lot of fun to play.

Rent it first!

This game wasn't really the best. It may strike arcade fans, although it didn't strike me. I was thoroughly disappointed in the game when I played it the first time. Cardboard enemies, and no fun gameplay, are the high points. I really didn't like the game, and neither will much of anyone else.

Pros: The game is EXTREMELY easy, it took me 15 minutes to beat it,yes really!
you only have to shoot the bad guys once
Cons: You do not move around-it does it automatically
The clock keeps ticking even after you have killed all the enemies in your area.
And here's one that came to my attention: the game cusses and it dosent say anything aout itin the ESRB rating
All in all I think it should be rated M!

gunfighter,an over the top fun ride.6 shots, 6 enemies, 6 kills!
this I think is a landmark arcade shooter, nice story as well as enviroments, the old west a classic setting. Now the review, the graphics arent as good as the back of the case portrays them to be big but yet not a big deal.this game is indeed realistic as mentioned earlier 1 shot 1 kill. The one thing that really got my attention is the jumpout shot the player will use this skill throughout the entire game.Although I must complain that the language factor can sometimes get out of hand.
