Great game

What a fun game - one of my daughter's favorites this holiday season. You get to sing along with HSM songs and you are graded in terms of how close you are to hitting all the notes. You can see the actual notes on screen and how close you are to hitting them as you sing. My daughter is 11 and likes to play with all her friends. It took a few tries to get good at it - but it's lots of fun. I can see getting a second mike to do the duets more easily.

Good family fun

My husband and I bought this for our 7 year old daughter for Christmas. She is obsessed with the HSM franchise and absolutely loves this game. In fact, we've all had a blast with this game. If you have a child who loves the music from HSM 1 and 2 and loves to sing, they will love this game.

Kids love it!

I purchased this game for Christmas. My kids love it and have been singing their hearts out since. It keeps them busy and they truly love it. Graphics are cool and the microphone works well with the tv. It a good purchase.

My 8 year old loves it! And now that she has a microphone, she used some of her Christmas money to get an American Idol Karaoke PS2 game! What a treat for mom and dad! P.S. Did I mention my son received Guitar Hero this year, too????

MUST HAVE

I bought this for my 8yr old b-day party. The girls love the game. They had so much fun. The only thing is there is only one microphone. I would definetly buy another microphone.

*IF* you love HSM *and* you love to sing.....

then you will love this game. As I do. Why I really love it more then any other reason is that you can sing duets with the game!! I have KR American Idol, which doesn't have that feature, and singstar doesn't even let you take the voices out. Here you can take the voice out of just one part of the duet, and sing with the other character in single player mode. This I LOVE!!!! It makes it so fun... but there is no game to it, it really is just about singing - and I think these songs are easier to sing then KR songs.

There are some annoying features in the way the game is built, selecting part 1 or 2 to try and find the female part is really annoying, especially in story mode, which you have to play all at once, and seems to be the only way to get the correct characters/locations/clothes with the songs. But it doesn't tell you the next song and you have to remember what it will be when you select what part you want for the next song. Ridiculous.

The KR/logitec mics work great with the game. Although they are not the original voices (not that Zac's voice was in the first one anyway) they are quite good and didn't bother me at all, and the lyric changes were really minimal. I think they cut some of the songs a little shorter though, which was sort of annoying. However, my enjoyment of singing these songs in duets trumps the problems for me, so I highly recommend it.

Fun game for kids and their grownups

My 6 year old daughter got this for Christmas. Both she and my son enjoy it, though it is a bit harder in the duet mode. The songs are familiar and fun if you enjoyed HSM. It also works with the mic from Rock Band for PS3, so we didn't have to buy another USB microphone. It didn't bother us a bit that the original cast wasn't singing the songs...they are decent covers.

Fun for the whole family!

My husband and I have just as much fun as our kids do with this game. Our 9 year old son really likes the challenge of earning enough points to unlock new songs and characters. We all prefer the solos, duets are really challenging. None of us are great singers, but we all have a blast singing along with the High School Musical songs.

Can use SingStar microphones with

My 7 and 9 year olds enjoy this immensely. Definitely a great purchase for any kids who are High School Musical fans! Reading other reviews, they state that the original singers in the movie don't sing the songs in this, but my kids and I didn't notice any difference. Sounded like the original Troy, Gabriella, etc. to us. And believe me, we've listened to the High School Musical songs on CD MANY times!

You don't have to be a good singer to be able to score points, which makes it fun for everybody to play, regardless of singing ability. The game awards points based on matching pitch and matching cadence. Important fact: the SingStar microphones CAN be used with this, so if you already own SingStar mikes don't buy the HSM: Sing it! bundle. In fact, the SingStar microphones are definitely better quality than the microphone that came with the HSM: Sing it! bundle.

Fun, but probably best for girls!

I bought this because Amazon has just an unbeatable price. We all enjoyed High School Musical and my sons have been known to belt out tunes, so I figured we would have fun with this. It's a little intimidating because it's not watered down at all, it's the original performances, which is hard to measure up to! It's pretty easy to figure out how to get it going (we hate to break out the manuals, too impatient I guess) but the thing that bugged me the most was that I did not want to sing a boy's part, and when I switched it to a girl's part, the girl sang with a boy's voice, and the boy sang with a girl's voice. It irritated me but we eventually just laughed it off and got on with it. It's fun and I recommend it, especially while Amazon has it at such a great price!
