NOT Original Performers!

The game itself is fun, but if you are expecting to sing with Zac and Vanessa and Ashley, you will be disappointed. The songs are performed by ?? who knows who, but not the original cast. Also, words in the songs have been changed. Example: in Fabulous, Sharpay asks for her "red leather flip flops" and "teal chenille tote" instead of Jimmy Choo and Prada. Little things, but when your fan has every beat of these songs memorized, they will probably be REALLY bugged by them. Especially the performers part.

Great game

What a fun game - one of my daughter's favorites this holiday season. You get to sing along with HSM songs and you are graded in terms of how close you are to hitting all the notes. You can see the actual notes on screen and how close you are to hitting them as you sing. My daughter is 11 and likes to play with all her friends. It took a few tries to get good at it - but it's lots of fun. I can see getting a second mike to do the duets more easily.

Not as fun as expected

We got this for our daugther who is crazy for everything HSM. She was disappointed with it because it's not immediately obvious how to play the game. Also, she was complaining that some of the words are different and the characters voices don't sound the same. It's a decent game to play, but not wonderful.

Fun game for kids and their grownups

My 6 year old daughter got this for Christmas. Both she and my son enjoy it, though it is a bit harder in the duet mode. The songs are familiar and fun if you enjoyed HSM. It also works with the mic from Rock Band for PS3, so we didn't have to buy another USB microphone. It didn't bother us a bit that the original cast wasn't singing the songs...they are decent covers.

Fun for the whole family!

My husband and I have just as much fun as our kids do with this game. Our 9 year old son really likes the challenge of earning enough points to unlock new songs and characters. We all prefer the solos, duets are really challenging. None of us are great singers, but we all have a blast singing along with the High School Musical songs.

I bought this for my 8yr old b-day party. The girls love the game. They had so much fun. The only thing is there is only one microphone. I would definetly buy another microphone.

Can use SingStar microphones with

My 7 and 9 year olds enjoy this immensely. Definitely a great purchase for any kids who are High School Musical fans! Reading other reviews, they state that the original singers in the movie don't sing the songs in this, but my kids and I didn't notice any difference. Sounded like the original Troy, Gabriella, etc. to us. And believe me, we've listened to the High School Musical songs on CD MANY times!

You don't have to be a good singer to be able to score points, which makes it fun for everybody to play, regardless of singing ability. The game awards points based on matching pitch and matching cadence. Important fact: the SingStar microphones CAN be used with this, so if you already own SingStar mikes don't buy the HSM: Sing it! bundle. In fact, the SingStar microphones are definitely better quality than the microphone that came with the HSM: Sing it! bundle.

Overexposing High School

When it comes to movies based on video games, very few of them actually have shown any definitive success of being a worthwhile game. That has happened with recent titles that really shown to be worthless like Alvin & The Chipmunks, as a musical spoof similar to music games like Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution. That notion for Alvin & The Chipmunks had less of a sense than the original cartoon series back in the 80's, which was more fun to watch. That also can be said with the overexposure of High School Musical. The Disney made for television movie has been one of the most-watched events on cable, but sadly the feeling of a game for the movie to have a game, feels less exciting.

High School Musical: Sing It! for the Playstation 2, tries to a game that fell less interesting, and more of a burden out of your pocket. In the game, you get to play any one of your favorite characters from the movie like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, and try to sing your own versions of songs from High School Musical and its sequel, using the special microphone that comes with the game, like What Time Is It? The graphics fair well, but the feeling of the game really misses the mark unlike PS2's success of Singstar series that actually shows videos, and feels more like a party, because the songs don't miss the mark. The gameplay sounds very weak, with tweaks from sound quality with the microphone.

All in all, while High School Musical: Sing It! is a buy for die hard fans of the movie series, it really is a game that isn't even worth burning a hole through your wallet for. I really think you'd be better off buying another music game like Guitar Hero III, or Rock Band. They might be worth a bit more, but they have more of the gameplay that makes it worth singing your heart out to. The time is to buy something else.

My husband and I bought this for our 7 year old daughter for Christmas. She is obsessed with the HSM franchise and absolutely loves this game. In fact, we've all had a blast with this game. If you have a child who loves the music from HSM 1 and 2 and loves to sing, they will love this game.

it lacks songs
