Onimusha- The Beginning of a Beautiful Relationship

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 3

Onimusha is now doubt, the biggest hit for the PS2 for the month of March, however, the game could have been planned out longer.

No doubt, that graphics and sound wise, this is a must have game for your PS2 library, however, what disapointed me was the shortness of the game itself. I love the game, it has beautifully detailed rooms, waterfalls, water, and effects. And it's very easy to get started with Onimusha because the controls are so farmiliar to the RE style.

I guess the only reason I complain is because I cannot wait for a 2 or 3 disced PS2 game to come out. Onimusha is a must have for anyone who has ever played ANY action game what-so-ever.

Onimusha: Warlords Review

Depending on what kind of TV you have, this game will be a beautiful winner, or an eye-straining waste. The game uses the most impressive graphics the PS2 has to offer. However, that also means that if you have a big TV, the screen will bounce. The old Playstation problem that only a smaller ( Much smaller. ) TV could fix. Besides that, the game's graphics are stunning and makes use of the DVD player. Everything is just too smooth. However, this is a sign of games to come from Capcom. Look closer and listen. Notice a similarity to the Resident Evil games? The load sound effect after the first screen? The controls? Everything here says Resident Evil on it. Capcom did not bother making an entirely new game engine for Onimusha. Is this a bad thing? Not at all. We all love the RE series and this will tide us over until the real thing comes our way. The bosses are huge and the saving is unlimited. The game may not be as long as some people may hope, but it still makes a nice game to play over and over again. The upgrading system is very original and has the "old gaming" feeling to it. The use of blood is not that bad and Capcom edited out anything that may be even close to desturbing for an American audience. One problem that keeps reoccuring in Capcom's games are the set camera angles. It's good so that they can use still high res pics, but moving is a huge problem. The constant flashing and loading can sometimes be too much for the Playstation to handle. So if you plan on going backwards to get a box or something, plan on getting a little confused.

Good, if you can get pass those ...puzzles!

This game has frustrating puzzles, and the gameplay is exactly like Devil May Cry, it's not funny. The story is so cliched, too. SAVE THE PRINCESS! Also, it's not realistic. The 1st boss is so stupid, a 3-year old could've made him. Only good thing is the graphics, but that's it.

Resident Evil in 16th century Japan

That's it exactly it this is Capcom. If you have played Resident Evil then you already know the style of game play. If you don't like Resident Evil then stay away from this one. I enjoyed playing through this one.

I bought the import version of this game, basically you will have to have a basic knowledge of Japanese to fully enjoy. That aside a great addition to survival horror genre.

PS2 Version or XBOX Version? Which should you buy??

So I get an XBOX and buy Genma Onimusha AND IT'S AWESOME! Ok...
Now I get a ps2 and rented Onimusha Warlords to see which was better. Ok?? ok...
To make a long story short you read what the editor wrote about Onimusha Warlords and compare it to the editors review of the XBOX version (Genma Onimusha) and you'll see that you're much better off buying the XBOX version, here's why.

1. The controls on the XBOX version are perfected and not at all sluggish like the ps2 version.
2. The graphics of Genma Onimusha are better on the XBOX (obviously arcade quality), than the ps2 version of Onimusha Warlords.
3. The XBOX version has added 2 levels 3 bosses and (what i would say amounts to) 3 hours of extra gameplay, for a total of 6-7 hours.
4. The XBOX version has an arm gauntlet that traps the souls of the slain including the new green souls which powers up the ogre power magic in your gauntlet, (something the ps2 version does not have). You also must fight the enemies for this green soul/ogre power.
5. Different levels of diffuculty setting.
6. Better camera angles.

So if you have a ps2 and/or an XBOX I suggest getting the XBOX version for the reasons stated. IF you only own a ps2 then don't miss this game it's killer! but the XBOX version is MUCH MUCH BETTER! ...Two stars better to be exact.
