Ever since NASCAR Thunder 2004, EA's NASCAR games have been progressively getting worse. In 2005, you couldn't make but 4 custom cars. In previous years, you could create as many as your memory card could hold. However there are two major disappointments;

1. Perhaps the biggest disappointment, when it says you can own a team, I thought you could create several of your own cars and forge a team with them. But the only option you have is to create your own car (which is one car) and then you had to buy real racing teams such as Hendrick, or Roush, for example. I was so thrilled about this game because of my expectations. But when I saw this, I just set the controller down and almost cried!

2. Another big disappointment, the lack of tools to construct the custom cars. I have driven my car (#100) and my teammates car (#86) for three years. In 06, you couldn't use #100 anymore, so there went my car, and you can't use the "Blend" paint scheme (and I can't remember if you can even use O'Reilly anymore) so there went #86 too.

Seriously, don't even consider buying this game, unless you are doing for a collections sake, like I did. My favorite game is NASCAR Thunder 2003, and it will be finding my TV screen alot more often than this pile of crap. I gave it 2 stars just because of it's ability to play all the series. EA has managed to maintain the NASCAR franchise's integrity slightly due to that.

I don't understand why some people have problem with loging or freeze. My game is fine, loging is not long to wait, and no freeze. This is so much fun to play/race with your Cars, Trucks, or Whelen. It have your own create driver and do the race just like season but better than season. The graphic pretty great and pit is a little bit long. When I was need to fill the fuel and I arrive pit, my team replace my tires too. The result was 20 seconds to finish relpace. But I don't care and I still can win the race. Trust me, this game is fine and fun!!! Buy it. (In case: If not trust me? Rental it first)

Why Nascar 06 is no longer any fun...

I have all of the Nascar games since my PS1 and 99. Over the years the games have progressed to offer great features and a tremendous amount of fun. But now with 06, it is so buggy that the game is not worth buying. The playback highlights do not depict what really happened along with the actual damage received. And the biggest bug of all is racing with two or more players in race now mode, and running a FULL race. At the end of the race, the game freezes and you don't even get to see your stats like laps led and things like that. In addition, the game will not even reset. It must be turned off completely and restarted. Then it will work perfectly for hours until you play in race now mode and run a FULL race. Finish the race and the game freezes. I have duplicated this bug over and over again. And it isn't my PS2 overheating. So, Nascar 06 is traded in and I have reverted back to Nascar 05. Hopefully if there is an 07 EA will resolve this issue. One thing is for sure. With the poor quality of of EA's 06 games like this one and Tiger Woods 06, I will not purchase another game without renting it from Blockbuster video first to test it. That's for sure! Come on EA, ...tighten things back up and get back to the reputation that you use to have.

If you ever want to live the life of a truck racer or a car racer, play NASCAR 2006 Total Team Control. This game has all different types of racing including CNS, Nextel Cup, Crassfman and Weldon racing. The game NASCAR 2006 is great entertainment. People of all ages will play this E Rated game.
This is a game that will be enjoyed by racing fans. Being a driver in this game allows you to control the excitement. The racing game is worth the purchase (...). The name of this game is NASCAR 2006 Total Team Control I say people should buy it. The game provides a realistic racing experience.

First of all, I own a Logitec Driving Force Pro wheel. I got it because of Gran Turismo. Now before I get started, let's all give props to Gran Turismo as being the pinnacle of driving simulators. To be honest Gran Turismo is the reason I bought NASCAR 06. I had also seen the show about Roush racing on the Discovery channel and was itching to take a pick-up truck around Darlington. I was hoping for another game that had the realism of driving a race car on a race track.

There are some shortcomings with the game. You can't use the wheel and the headset at the same time. The auto-brake feature should only be used in the rookie mode. The rivals should be left out of rookie mode too. You should have the choice of shifting in the advanced modes. The graphics are weak when compared with GT3 or GT4. HOWEVER driving this game is fun!!! I found myself in my rookie season getting really frustrated at working hard to get a lead or get competitive just to get tagged and spun out. But if you drive hard and play fair you will be rewarded by winning (or at least top 10). The game is not easy. I like that, even in rookie mode. Qualifying is hard. You have to know the tracks. The tracks are varied and quirky and none are the same. The first time I drove the track in Richmond I thought "it CAN'T be this SMALL". I wonder what the NASCAR drivers think of the game. I have heard that they turn to the game for practice to hone their knowledge of certain tracks. I hope that is true. I wish there were the other NASCAR tracks in the game.

I also like the music and wish you could just turn it all on. Nobody has created a book for this game and perhaps that's for the best. Like everyone else, I hope EA Games listens to the players of these games. It is really a fun game to play and with more realism and more tracks could become quite awesome.

The Decline Of NASCAR Thunder

For my first real review I'd like to address a problem I have that I know you have too if you'd enjoy playing a good NASCAR video game. The problem is that one doesn't exist. EA Sports makes the only NASCAR game, and it's past 2 editions, NASCAR Chase for The Cup 2005 and NASCAR 06 Total Team Control have left me still going back to play NASCAR Thunder 2004.
NASCAR Thunder was almost perfect. It only seems better now that it is still the best version, even after 2 newer ones have come out since. The problem with it, though, is that so many of the drivers, tracks, and rules are out of date. If EA had taken that game, updated it, and called it NASCAR Thunder 2006, I WOULD LOVE IT! Granted, it wasn't perfect. It was impossible to keep your team and sponsors happy, and the other drivers will absolutely hate you for sometimes no reason at all, but I could live with those things better than all of those AWFUL changes made since then.
The 2 games since then have updated the drives, tracks and rules, but have sacrificed the best things about the game. First of all, the game has no statistics whatsoever. You can not continue the career of a real driver for another season if you want to play as someone that already exists. All of the awards the old game used to post weekly and yearly are gone such as Rookie of the Race/Year. There is no challenge to having your own team. As soon as you can afford to buy one, you can spend a small percentage of that amount and you will have the best team in the league. Also, you can't take the auto-brake off. This means even if you are racing at Martinsville, no matter how you adjust the settings, you can keep the gas petal to the floor, and the computer will always just brake for you. Not to mention the fact that in the career mode you have to sign autographs by paying this totally stupid game before you qualify and race. Also, except for the real-life drivers, every sponsor is a made up company that doesn't exist. I like the Busch and Craftsman series that were added, but why can't any driver except you advance through them? Finally, both games just randomly LEAVE OUT extremely important Nextel Cup drivers and tracks! These are just the big things. I'm getting too upset to keep writing about this much longer, so I have to stop now.

Pretty good for all nascar fans

This game is sort of like nascar chase for the cup 2005. But this is way better. Say that your a Hendrick car oh lets say Jimmie Johnson well while your driving your car you you can swich to Jeff Gordons car and drive it or the other Hendrick cars. But they dont have all the drivers on this game they need to have Dave Blaney on it. then it would be so munch better!!!

Review on the driving control

I just got a PS2 for Christmas, and got this game with it. I havent played any game modes other than a regualar race yet, but I have logged many races on it so far. To start off I want to mention that before I got this game I read a review on it on here, and someone said that the controls were horrible, that you couldnt tap the directional arrows and go through the turne smooth, you had to hit it so hard to make it respond that the car would go left and right instead of strait and smooth. I played it and found that same problem and was quite vexxed about it. Then me and my brother did two players and I used my PS1 controller and lo and behold, you could tap it, and it goes smooth with the PS1. So, do not use the PS2 controller with this game. Now to rate the driving, I will divide it onto two parts, long tracks and short tracks. The short tracks are fun to race on, and I dont really have a problem with them; the long tracks on the other hand, you better be careful. I rated the game four stars because it is fun, and I havent really had it for over a month, so I cant bash it, but when I am racing at Daytona, I hate it. While you are going down the strait aways, you constantly have to adjust, and then in the turns, you hit the wall alot. And dont try to bump draft, you will spin out the guy in front of you. And if you so much as touch a guy, chances are you will both go into the wall, or if you dont, thanks to the new friend and foe feature, he will hunt you like a Thanksgiving turkey. So these are my complaints. I am a NASCAR fan. I watch it every sunday the Bears dont play on, and love it. I enjoy playing the games too. But, if any EA Sports people read this for ideas, the gsmes are too realistic. Game makers are trying to give people playing them the same experiance as the pros. In real NASCAR if you bump someone, you go into the wall. If you make a sudden turn, you get loose. But remember something, they are the pros, not us. They make millions, not us. They have steering wheels, we, (most of us dont have PS steering wheels,) we have controllers with arrows on them that if you touch it, it adjusts. These games are TOO real. I have a computer game, NASCAR Heat, that is awsome. You can put it on realistic easy setting. I play it on easy because realistic is practically impossible. And one other thing I liked about this game, and the reason for the high score, is it doesnt worship Dale Jr. Dale Earnheart Sr was a good driver, Jr is just an average driver who wins on restrictor plate tracks because he has good engines because daddy gave him a ride. Jr isnt the worst driver, but he has never won a championship, and he isnt a real threat, and deffinitley isnt one of the tops drivers. Give the praise to Gordan, Stewert, Biffle, Kenseth, and Kurt Busch, he is a good driver, even though he is a jackass. Well, thus ends my review. Go Newman, and da Bears!
