Disappointing at best!

Try as I have I can not see any good things to say about this game other then if you are a history buff it might be nice to see the authentic video footage from the History channel. I am 59 and have seen most of it. The game is simply boring walk and shoot each mission lasts about 20 minuets. If you could run it would only be about 10, but the controls only allow you to walk or crouch. The game, its graphics', and controls are about 10 years behind the times. I felt it was more of an advertisement for the history channel then a game. As has been said before, a total waste of money

HISTORY CHANNEL AND ACTIVISION YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO USE SUCH SUBJECT MATTER TO PRODUCE SUCH A CHEAP GAME. THIS GAME IS CHEAP. THE GRAPHICS ARE THE CHEAPEST I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE CONTROLS ARE JERKY THE MISSIONS ARE LINEAR AND CHILDISH. NO EFFORT OR EXPENSE WERE DEPLOYED IN THE MAKING OF THIS GAME. IT IS AN INSULT TO THE MEN WHO FOUGHT AND DIED IN THE PACIFIC DURING WWII. THIS GAME IS BORING, STUPID AND CERTAINLY NOT WORTH THE PRICE OF A RENTAL NOT TO MENTION THE PURCHASE PRICE. IT IS A RIP OFF. I CAN NOT BELIVE THE HISTORY CHANNEL PUT THEIR NAME ON THIS PEACE OF CRAP. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HISTORY CHANNEL GAME.

WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! IT IS TOTAL CRAP! MEDAL OF HONOR ON THE PS1 IS LEAPS AND BOUNDS BEYOND THIS STEAMING PILE OF GARBAGE. WHERE DID THIS GAME COME FROM?!!!!? GOOD LORD!

I WONDER WHAT THIS GAME LOOKS LIKE ON THE X-BOX 360 OR PS3? THE PS2 VERSION OF IT T0TALLY SUCKS!

BEWARE....THIS HONESTLY IS ONE OF THE WORST GAMES I HAVE EVER PLAYED!

Dead on Arrival

Opened the box ... installed the program ... accepted their DirectX 9.0.

Running on a machine that exceeds requirements and recommendations printed on the package:

Recommended: Pentium 4 @ 1.6 GHz - have Pentium D @ 2.8 GHz
Recommended: 512 Meg RAM - have 1024 Meg of RAM
Required: 4X ROM drive; Recommended: 40x ROM drive - have 16x ROM drive

Instant error message: "Battle for the Pacific has encountered a problem and must close". No clue what the problem might be ... just DOA. Without a clue, I can't fix it ... and, when you come down to it, given the level of disappointment, I don't even care at this point.

I'm an owner of, a long time player of and avid fan of Battlefield 1942 / Road to Rome and Battlefield Vietnam (Redux with WWII bonus scenarios) - so I'm not a total ignorant fool. I assumed that I would like this first person shooter, too. I guess I'll never know ... and I'll certainly think twice before considering anything else from ActiVision again.

Can't even install it

After installing this game three times, you are left with a game that seems to play, but there is no color. Just shades of white and 3-D ghosts. No install errors. Sent e-mail to the support address days ago, no response what so ever. May just see if we can get our money back.

Great Game

I initially purchased the History Channel Civil War game from a local store that was going out of business. My teen son is a history buff and wanted to give it a try.

After playing it he asked if there were any more History Channel games? We immediately thought of Amazon. Amazon has the best selection and the best prices on games, by far.

We were lucky enough to find the Battle for the Pacific. My son loved it. Way to go History Channel, for bringing history to the video game world.
