most exciting game on PS3 this Spring

Awesome game! I went to GameStop after work and it was sold out, so I went on a prowl to get this game, had to go to 2 different stores to get this game. This game is amazing, the graphics are shocking, this game has a lil bit of Resistance mixed with Gears of War. I love the ability to customize the weapons, don't have enough cash to get the big guns yet. This game has alot of features from the single co-op game to the versus mode on the net. This is a must game to have this spring, for those rainy days.

Co-op is absolutely a blast!!

My best friend lives in Pennsylvania and I live in Tennessee. We're always looking for a game that we can play together online. When I first saw the trailer for Army of Two, I knew we'd have to be all over this game. We didn't buy it for the single player (duh), but we've definitely had a great time playing online co-op.

The gameplay is very much like Gears of War, although I'd still give the graphics nod to Gears. But, the amount of detail on both Rios and Salem is awesome. The customization is also another bonus. Very detailed and you have a wide variety of things to choose from, primary weapons, secondary, special, gear and then from there you get more specific to each item you choose. We literally spend like 5-10 mins between rounds playing around with the customization section. Great stuff.

The melee attacks are even better. I just don't think I can ever get bored of seeing them. We laugh all the time. The cover system is great as well. You don't get stuck to a wall like in Gears and you are free to move in and out and over. I prefer the 3rd person view on console games, so that is obviously a plus.

The A.I is extremely smart and hard to kill, which is a bonus. They flank, retreat and flat out attack when you are pinned. The A.I movement is clean and the rag doll effects are as good as they are in most games. Fun to watch.

If you have a buddy to play this game with, you won't regret it. My best friend and I are both close to 30, and we're still laughing at the commentary. It's a great stress reliever and a great way to have a good laugh with a friend. Good times. :) I'd definitely recommend it.

This game is awful. I don't get how EA manage to get good ratings on mediocre games. IGN rated this POS as 8 - should be 5 or lower. The controls are aweful. They should learn something from COD4 and Activision. Plus using your AI partner in single player CO-OP is like asking a moron to help you out on your physics homework. AI partner will walk into an area where he can easily be shot and then will get to the point where you have to go and rescue him. The aiming of the guns, painful experience. Buy COD4 and play it repeatedly..it will be more fun this lame game.

Excellent Co-op Game!!!

As a co-op online game, this is one of the best I've played. Nevermind these negative reviews. I had so much fun playing this game with a friend who lives 3,000 miles away. Honestly, I can't pick out any flaws.

As for single player mode, it's not bad but could use some improvements. As for these haters saying the AI partner is a moron, I'd have to say that they are the morons who don;t know how to use the right commands to get The AI partner to do what they want it to do. Seriously, as long as you knwo how to command the partner, the game is fine.

I give this game an A+ for co-op mode and a B for single player.

Good for Two

First, my opinion is based on having played the off line coop mode of this game only. At first I hated the game play. I am all for teamplay and a little strategy in a game, but I felt it a bit much when you can't jump, catch a ledge and pull yourself up for example. You need to step up with your partner. You also need your partner for opening doors, passage ways etc.

Also as mentioned here, the enemies can really take a bullet or 10. I've shot guys down in mid sprint took aim at the next one only to see the guy I just shot up and sprinting to cover where he will camp out and blind fire for quite a while. Speaking of sprinting I wish there was a sprint button! More on the aiming, I don't have much of an issue there except for when they camp out behind cover and blind fire and blind fire then blind fire some more. It's hard too hit them while they are blind firing and it also takes a lot of bullets to take them down. Which usually left me out of ammo.

THEN I discovered the joys of upgrading my guns. I can't really call it customizing because there seems to be just one "Pimp" option for your guns (which makes them look pretty snazzy, I have a gold AK47 myself). You can max out your weapons so they become more powerful, accurate and carry more ammo which makes killing the baddies easier and more enjoyable. One cool feature is your GPS which tells you where to go so it keeps the "where do we go" times to a minimum. Also pressing R1 (PS3) automatically points you in the direction of your team mate. Handy when he is dying and you need to get to him quick fast in a hurry.

Bottom line, if you like FPS AND enjoy coop play then chances are you will have some fun with this game. If at first it feels crappy do what I did, give it a chance to redeem itself. I've yet to finish it (can't play as often as I wish), but I am now enjoying it.

Great third person co-op.

This is a great game. I've played and finished the game with a buddy on the ps3 version. We're now on "Contractor Mode" and about halfway through again. There is no other game really like this as far as the dual teamwork goes in a shooter. Back to back mode is a blast and upgrading to the 50 cal. as my special weapon has been a bunch of fun to shoot. The only drawback is the voip isn't really workable because of the choppiness as the game loads, so we've been talking over the phone. Otherwise, I'm loving this game!

Was the 4 Month delay worth the wait?

Note: This game was originally planned for a November 2007 release, but pushed back for more "improvements".

Loosely inspired by current events (IE the privatizations of military force like Blackwater) Army of two is a 3rd person shooter that emphasizes teamwork via coop or by using the AI in which case puts the tactical aspect within the game. You play as either Tyson Rios or Elliot Salem two former Army Rangers, now globetrotting mercenaries who during missions unravel a conspiracy that plays an important plot within the game.

I like the fact that the programmers have implemented current events based on hotspots like Somalia and Iraq as it adds more realism to the game there's even a hint of the September 11 tragedy during a cut scene.
First off AOT has interesting features like the Aggro that has you or your partner utilizing the most damage toward enemies while providing distraction. Overkill is a 10 second kill clock boost that provides a bit of invincibility and stealth.Back to Back speaks for itself.

what's also cool is the GPS system it comes in handy when you are often lost as well as provide objectives and items such as a makeshift riot shield.
After completing a mission you are often rewarded with cash which can be used for purchasing and upgrading weapons. It adds more fun to the game as the player is tasked to experiment with various weapons to see which ones are more suitable during certain missions and objectives and not to mention the optional pimping of guns and gear.

The graphics are defiantly up to next gen/current gen standards and sometimes it's hard to determine if the cut scenes are based on in game graphics or not. However, sound wise it can be a bit annoying like the often mentioned "Help me Elliot" "I didn't know you cared Elliot" and then there's the redundant music that made me wish I purchased the 360 version so that I can substitute my own soundtrack instead of the game's music.

What's also a bit frustrating is trying to shoot the enemy who can take more hits than a tank. At times you are better off with melee as opposed to shooting, due to the lackluster targeting system and reticule.
Overall Army of Two is a very satisfying game albeit too short for $60 but with possible future DLC, it's worth it. The dialogue reminds me of those buddy action flicks back in the 80's-90s and that's not a bad thing. Hopefully the problems will be addressed in a future sequel that's sure to happen.

Great Co-Op, Horrible Single Player

Just beat the game today with my friend. First day when i bought the game, i did the single player campaign and it was horrible, the AI is just completely clueless. But with a buddy playing it's very fun. I really enjoy the weapon customization. The graphic is good too, but I'm a little suprise it does not support 1080p.

Lots of fun

This is a really great game. So far the online play is good, but it's really hard to hear the people you're playing with. I'm sure a patch will fix that eventually though. Overall it's a great game.

I just got the game and played it for 3 hours straight. If you like Gears of War, Ghost Recon, you will like this game "a-lot" This game borrowed a few pointers from Gears of War (cover system and healing)with being able to see where your partner is like Ghost Recon, man to man ledge help (Splinter cell)but it goes a bid deeper as to customizing weapons, back to back firing, and something called Aggro (where you can get your partner go firing crazy while you sneak up or flank the enemy(awesome tactic).
There are a few glitches. I thought the voice fit on some characters and not others. And I wish they would have implemented changing angles (pointing gun on left or right side sholders) of view when behind cover like Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell in first person view. The system will actually change the cover position for you, but is not always accurate. But overall, this does not take away from the fun of this game.
I'd say stop reading this right now and go get this game....................What are you doing still reading???? Go, go, go!!!
