Great Co-Op

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 12 / 19

This game has a lot of features all wrapped up. One particular favorite part is the sharing and trading Aggro with the partner. Done in Single Player this is accomplished with the directional buttons.
And if you don't like what your partner is doing, give him a quick admonishment. Or you can do a little celebration (Air guitar!)

The tactical/2-man aspects are great. Back-to-back, coordinated sniping, or just overtaking a machine gun nest by the use of Aggro.

The customization is also a nice touch. Customize your weapons to your liking. Put a shield on there or a silencer depending upon if you're going to be taking the bulk of the Aggro or going Stealth behind the enemy while they're pre-occupied with your Aggro-ing buddy.

The movies are fun to watch and the gameplay is fun while still looking good. The Campaign is short though. Most of the game is dependent upon the MP aspect and is a lot more fun when playing with someone else; be it online or split-screen.

24 Mar 08 Edit:
Co-Op with this game is a LOT of fun (online/offline). It was neat how the coordinated sniping when done online is accomplished through a "Countdown" Sequence.
The Versus online feature is interesting, but can be tough. Earn $ and spend it on armor/weapons at kiosks located around the level. You can take out the other MERCs while trying to accomplish your objectives, since they'll definitely be gunning for you.
The Online portion is DEFINITELY this game's strong suit.

Great game, picked it up yesterday and played for a couple hours w/ a friend. Graphics are awesome, the teamwork aspect is fantastic. Maybe I am just a big fan of co-op games, but it is on par w/ resistance. Weapons are great and there are some comical aspects to the game like playing the air guitar after killing an enemy or getting pissed at your partner and punching him in the head. Great stuff. Beware if you are not used to top/bottom split-screen and are used to left/right, its a little difficult to adjust to, especially if you are used to resistance. Nonetheless, you get accustomed to it and its a great experience, Go buy this.. CANT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEKS PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER RELEASE!!

Really fun with two players, but lacks when playing single.

Army of Two is one of the best games I have ever played. It is really fun when I play with my brother and the story and the dialogue is interesting. For fans of Gears of War and Resistance, this game is highly recommended.

Graphics: The graphics are really good (but not the best). The characters look realistic and the cutscene looks as if you are watching final fantasy (or something similar).

Sounds: The voice acting is good, although there are some bad language, but everything was okay. The music is worth hearing and the gun fire and explosions sound realistic.

Gameplay: The game is a cooperative players dream. This is really fun when you play with someone, such as a relative. Instead of giving painful directions to AIs, you can tell the person directly what to do. The gameplay is long enough and there are several vehicles and weapons/equipment to use. (The game is a third person shooter and not first). The online gaming will not let you down. There are some extra features such as letting you customize your own weapons.

There are few camera angle issues and minor glitches, but this is one of the greatest games I have ever played.

Excellent

This game has acheived something that so many games could not ill explain when u play call of duty 4 single player or multiplayer it creates the illusion of a team based game but in fact its all up two you (especially multiplayer)ive played so many matches and no one works in teams they run around on a rampage but army of two dosent it makes you play as a team u cant do it on ur own u and ur ai or friend have to help each other scale building cover each other etc and im guessing its the same on mp i have yet to play but i believe it will be fantastic.

Awesome game! I went to GameStop after work and it was sold out, so I went on a prowl to get this game, had to go to 2 different stores to get this game. This game is amazing, the graphics are shocking, this game has a lil bit of Resistance mixed with Gears of War. I love the ability to customize the weapons, don't have enough cash to get the big guns yet. This game has alot of features from the single co-op game to the versus mode on the net. This is a must game to have this spring, for those rainy days.

WOW for AO2

I just got the game and played it for 3 hours straight. If you like Gears of War, Ghost Recon, you will like this game "a-lot" This game borrowed a few pointers from Gears of War (cover system and healing)with being able to see where your partner is like Ghost Recon, man to man ledge help (Splinter cell)but it goes a bid deeper as to customizing weapons, back to back firing, and something called Aggro (where you can get your partner go firing crazy while you sneak up or flank the enemy(awesome tactic).
There are a few glitches. I thought the voice fit on some characters and not others. And I wish they would have implemented changing angles (pointing gun on left or right side sholders) of view when behind cover like Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell in first person view. The system will actually change the cover position for you, but is not always accurate. But overall, this does not take away from the fun of this game.
I'd say stop reading this right now and go get this game....................What are you doing still reading???? Go, go, go!!!

best multiplayer yet.

Great Co-Op, Horrible Single Player

Just beat the game today with my friend. First day when i bought the game, i did the single player campaign and it was horrible, the AI is just completely clueless. But with a buddy playing it's very fun. I really enjoy the weapon customization. The graphic is good too, but I'm a little suprise it does not support 1080p.

Wow. Just Wow. And not a good wow.

I don't understand how this game is getting such high marks. The controls are terrible, either you have super slow accelerating into way to fast causing you to over lead all the time or you just have super slow. To the point where you can't even keep up with a guy while he's running across the screen. Then there's the total uselessness of the guns. Seriously, the bullets don't really effect the enemy. You can shoot guys point blank and they'll get up and run away. You can shoot them while they're running and they don't even trip or slow down! You have a better bet running up to the enemy and trying to melee. That is if the camera is pointed at him, otherwise you just start shooting off into nothing. And if you get lucky. No lie. I shot a guy 20 times, he ran past me, I went to melee and he was able to beat me to it and kick me to the ground.
And the camera, no auto anything. You have to continuously turn. No auto lock or tracking or anything. Enemies can run right past you and kill you by shooting you in the back while you're stuck fighting the slow camera to try and turn.
The graphics are OK but you can't shoot through things! COD4 has raised the bar and other games need to respond. Enemies can hide behind a particle board sign and not be shot. Infuriating to say the least. This really feels like a PS2 game ported over.
Online VS play is interesting. They have some good ideas there, but the controls just ruin it.
On a side note, not sure if it's the game or the PSN, but I could not get voice chat working at all when it was fine in the Lost Planet demo.
I would NOT damage the name and reputation of Gears by making any comparison between the two.

I had been anticipating this game for close to a year, it was supposed to come out in November and was pushed back to "polish up graphics and refine mechanics" if thats the case I would have HATED to see how bad it was back then. this Game is a GIANT let down. The controls are clumsy and slow, and usually inaccurate.

The A.I. is frankly woefully lacking in the areas they claimed it would be superior, the "computer partner" doesn't cover you, doesn't heal you, and very rarely stays with you at all. The vehicles are pathetic and require two men to use properly but your partner of course is constantly running off to do their own thing. With all the articles I've read about this game, all the videos all the excitement and build up of waiting for it. I'm horribly disappointed. I was ready to give this game every chance I could and i just can't recommend it.

It's as if the game simply isn't finished. They boast on and on about the total customization of your character and it's all B.S. you can KIND of customize your weapons, and can choose different armor, but only in campaign mode, you can't customize jack squat in online play, you can't even select which character you want to look like it randomly chooses a character from the campaign to give you. which sucks big time.

this Game over all just isn't worth the inflated price for a "NEXT GEN" game.
