This game is constant action, if you like fighting or Greek mythology, this is the game for you! This game has many bosses and levels, this is probably
the best game for the psp. I believe all who have a psp should play this game at least once in there lifetime. This game includes many combos you do with a shield that you can shoot a fire ball from, a mask that you can make people fight themselves with, and a gauntlet which can let you wield electricity. This game also has a cyclops which you climb up and then stab a sword into him, and you also kill a goddess. You also have a demon you can summon on command when you want(The demons name is efreet and it looks like a red guy on fire) Hope you enjoy my review!

Freakin SWEET!

MUST BUY for PSP. Shows the power that the PSP has. Awesome Gfxs that rival PS2 in the palm of your hand! Gameplay of a console in a portable platform that you can fit in your 'large' pockets!

AWESOME!

¿Qué? no tienes God Of War para PSP?

Oh God, Book 3

I thought Daxter was the best PSP game to date. The top spot has now been taken over by God of War: Chains of Olympus. It's by far the best looking PSP game I've ever seen. The shadows and particle effects look like something out of a PS2 game. The controls work very well and the story is intriguing. The cut scenes are top notch. I can't say enough good things about this game. It might be a tad short, but I think most fans of the series will want to play it again and again.

Bloody Good!

Ah, Greek mythology. An endless well of public domain stories and characters that are perfect fodder for writers, movie makers and video game designers. It is to the credit of this game series that, rather than tell the stories of Perseus,Herakles or Theseus, they instead made up Kratos, in all his bloody, chain-blade weilding glory.

I've played God of War PS2 and enjoyed it immensely. I haven't played the sequel yet, but I'm sure I will. In the meantime, this PSP version of the game is a more-than-adequette substitute.

The game is a prequel to the other two in the series. You play a tiny Kratos, running around eviscerating everyone that gets in your path. You also manage to find time for a little lovin' with some naked ladies, as was the style of the time (interestingly, Kratos never seems to hook up with any boys, as was also the style of the time).

The game looks and plays incredibly well. The graphics are as close to a PS2 as anything you'll see on the PSP, and the controls work well on the smaller console. No complaints there.

Ultimately this game is to video games what 300 (Two-Disc Special Edition) is to movies; a bloody, rolicking, good-time mess with about as much connection to real history as The Da Vinci Code.

Vastly entertaining and a great game to play!

As impressive as its PS2 counterparts

Chains of Olympus provides overwhelming evidence that the PSP is capable of great technological feats. This title is just as impressive (though a tad bit shorter) than either of the God of War entries on the PS2. Which is no small feat, considering that those games are among the most impressive ever released on the PS2, developed toward the backend of the console's lifespan, when developers were maximizing its potential.

Graphically, Chains of Olympus is astounding. It's amazing to think that this game is actually being played on a portable system, when I remember playing black and white Tetris on a Gameboy not all that many years ago. Chains of Olympus does an outstanding job of impressing upon the player the sense of scale that God of War is known for on the PS2. You will feel that you are but a drop in the bucket, as you go about exploring vast, eerie settings from the world of ancient Greece, including the shadowy realm of Hades. Mythological beasts will tower above you- including one particularly impressive boss battle at the beginning of the game, featuring a giant basilisk that nearly destroys the entire city of Attica.

As impressive as the visuals are, the voice acting and the mythology-rich story likewise keep up, delivering a fantastic overall package. It's hard to imagine any gamer not enjoying Chains of Olympus, even if they have not yet delved into the God of War series.

only gave four stars because the game was too short!!

This game was really fun and not too hard to beat. I'm a hard core gammer and it only tolk me 3 days to beat this game. It has a great story and the graphics are great. I think this game should only be $29.99 because it's soo short. But other than that I recommend this game to everyone.

Short but Sweet

This is the latest game to push the limits of the PSP. It accomplished everything the cosole versions of this game did, but comes in about 1/3 shorter in terms of game play. If you're a fan of the series definitely pick this up. If you have a PSP definitely pick this up.

Good, but short

I enjoyed this game, but it took me only about 4-5 hours to play it. Good Graphics.

When I played the first God of War, part of me thought that it was indeed impressive with the production values, the passion and care the developers took and it certainly had a very cinematic and epic feel but there were times where gameplay-wise it annoyed the hell out of me. Ditto with its sequel which wasn't more awful or greater than the original but it was just....there. After recently purchasing a PSP, I figured why not tackle one of the handheld's heavy hitters. Well the same problems that plagued the others are still here and while many will outright love the game, I've noticed a lot to nitpick.

Story: Taking place before the original, Kratos is helping Attica against the siege of the Persian army when a strange light is seen in the sky, covering the land in nighttime. Seems the god Helios is missing and the Greek god of dreams, Morpheus, has taken over and put the gods to sleep. So Kratos must once again save all of Greece.

Graphics: The bigger brothers on the PS2 had some pretty fantastic visuals and that gets replicated on Sony's tiny handheld. While they're not up to the visual clarity as those, the sheer size and scale fits perfectly with the series and indeed, many of this looks like it's PS2-ready graphics. During in-game you get occasional pauses for disc loading but other than that, there's nary any fault with this.

Sound/Music: Despite only playing 3 games so far (Tactics, Liberty City Stories and this), God of War was the first time that I tried headphones and the experience became more richer. The soundtrack, filled with big choir and orchestras, came to life and very much brought the game to the more cinematic feel it's doing and the voice acting was spot-on.

Gameplay: A lot of what God of War did in its gameplay was combine platforming, action and puzzle solving fairly smoothly but what it did with it was my issue. For starters, the controls are intuitive and it's easy to grasp the various combos and such but rolling (L+R and the direction) feels sluggish and with combos to the L and special moves to the R, it can get annoying when you hit the wrong button. Then there's the timed-button presses like when you take down a baddie with either pressing the face buttons or rotating the analog a certain way. The analog ones were aggravating since the time alloted is kind of fast and using the nub felt strange and never felt comfortable enough to bring them down and occasionally got nailed.

One big aspect of the game is puzzle solving and while I do like games like Ico or Legend of Zelda where you'd go "oohhhhh ok, yeah now I get it", when you find the solution here, sometimes its more accidental or you consult an FAQ and think "oh yeah, obviously I would've thought to do THAT". While it's nothing bad, sometimes solutions just feel too vague and aside from the occasional puzzle, I never solved a puzzle by figuring out but by just stumbling across the answer. Combat though is of course fun and while your favorite combos tend to get repeated a lot, it's still fun to stab and slash at all the baddies though the bigger ones took longer to bring down. As for its length, yes it its short but considering it's a prequel, the PSP's more "on-the-go" style and the amount of graphics and stuff, I'm surprised they even crammed this much.

Some might disagree with me and plenty of reviews have said this is absolutely one of the best games on the PSP but while I certainly don't think it's the worst, some of my more personal nitpicks and criticisms bring it down a tad but if you want a solid adventure, you could rent this of course. Just being the black sheep and saying this isn't the second coming for the PSP.
