Street Fighter 2 was the first fighting game I owned on my SNES and is still one of my favorites. I skipped Champion Edition but when Turbo came out (the one with E Honda fighting Sagat on the cover) I knew it was good enough to buy again. This version features all the original 8 characters plus the 4 bosses, and the ability to fight with each character against himself, but does not include the 4 "new fighters" who are mostly cheap or ... (I really hate T Hawk). This is in my opinion the superior version of Street Fighter 2 on the best system. It seems like the SNES controller was made for this game, and the action so so smooth and beautiful. I had some fun playing this game against the computer but it really shines in versus mode. I cant tell you how many hours my brothers and I played this game but it became as much of a male bonding activity for us as anything. I think i still remember the code to jack up the turbo from the usual 3 stars to 10 (the matches are over in a matter of seconds) up down left right L Y R B or something like that. Man i really want to play this game again, hopefully my copy will arrive soon. It really is the most balanced and accurate fighting game of all time. ... Hadoken

The most influential fighting game ever...improved!

Street Fighter II is the most influential fighting game ever created. If that wasn't released in 1991, you wouldn't be playing Soul Calibur or Tekken or Virtua Fighter or Dead-or-Alive or Mortal Kombat...or even Fatal Fury! Considering the immense success of the SNES version of SF2, Capcom decided to do a SNES version of the game's second "sequel" - Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting. This version includes playable bosses, minor alterations to the original fighters and of course, turbo speed.

The first thing you'll notice as you turn on the game is its quality. The graphics and sound effects are as vibrant and powerful as they can get on a SNES conversion! Although lacking the extreme detail and heavy animation of Capcom's modern 2-D fighting games, it had great graphics for its time. The sound effects are plain dazzling! Memorable background music includes...hell, all of 'em! You can also listen to all the audio in the game in the options menu.

If you've played any of the other fighters by Capcom, you'll pick up the controls in ten seconds. There are three kick buttons and three punch buttons. Blocking is performed by pressing the control pad left or right. Special moves are standard Capcom fare and nothing complicated except maybe (though not for me) Zangief's spinning piledriver. The replay value is higher by far than its sequel Super SF2, in which the poor sound kills the long-lasting appeal, or any other 16-bit fighting game. The turbo speed is just the icing on an already solid cake. Plus, if you enter a secret code you can play on a ten-star speed setting, which should be experienced at least once! The playable bosses complement the old fighters with their diversity of moves, and the original cast have a couple of new moves as well.

This is definitely my most-played video game, and with good reason. For those of you who still have a SNES, I simply can't think of a better fighting game you could buy! If you have SF2, then this may not be necessary (although I think it would still be worth checking out due to the low price). This is the definitive SNES fighting game! Prepare to get your face bashed in for good measure! Shoryuken!

The second best SF2 Game on SNES

This game was a huge improvment over the original. There was new moves, modes, colors, there was a hyper edition and Champoin edition... plus you could finaly play as Blarog, Vega, Fagat, and Major Bison.

The best thing about it was entering a code that was very easy and I still even remember how to do it today ( down, R, up, L, B, A) on the title screen, and you'd hear a sound.. and then you could play hyper edition on up to 10 stars for the speed... it went fast and was so much fun... SSF2 was the better game and better graphics, but it never ran as fast as hyper edition.

The same game, but way better ! A definitive must play !

The Street Fighter II series have been one of the most popular fighting series of all time and Capcom has been releasing many upgraded versions throughout the early to mid '90s. The first one was Street Fighter II, the fighting game that revolutionized the genre, then Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, which featured the same fighting engine only now, you get to play as the bosses like M.Bison, Vega, Balrog, and Sagat. And finally, comes Street Fighter II Turbo, which featured the same characters, including the bosses, but with faster and superior gameplay. Fans and critics agree, that this was one of the greatest Street Fighter titles since the very first release of the series. No one has forgotten how great the game was, even today. The graphics look pretty much the same, but cleaner. The animations to each character look extremely vibrant and colorful. The audio is improved and tweaked. So far, we don't have any bad voice actors (that is until Super Street Fighter II comes up) in this game. And the sounds of hitting still haven't changed one bit. As for the line of characters, still the same as Champion Edition's. You have Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Dhalsim, Blanka, Sagat, M.Bison, Balrog, and Vega. And as for the gameplay, still unsurpassive and unmatched comparing to todays SF titles. The controls are still well balanced but much faster than the first two SFII titles. There's even an option or code where you can increase the speed. There are no other things I have to say about the gameplay, but all I can say is, it's still one of the best playing Street Fighter games ever ! If you still have your SNES and you're planning to sell it, you might want to think twice ! If you have Street Fighter II Turbo in you collection, you might want to keep it ! Who knows ? If you end up selling it and later on feel like playing the game again, it'll probably take forever to find the game again, since it's a rare product now ! But all in all, a true Street Fighter classic ! Even today, not even the newest SF titles can live up to the superior gameplay balance of Street Fighter II Turbo ! This game should definently not be passed up !

The second Super Nintendo Street Fighter is probably the best installment in the entire Street Fighter series. With now-playable boss characters and a new "Turbo" option to speed up fights, this sequel is more fun than the first Street Fighter. Fans of old school fighters can't go wrong with this one.

Street Fighter II changed when it got 'Super' and everything felt tacky and wacky. Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting is the last official revision before the Super games and remains a fan favorite, especially for you Alpha haters out there. EGM placed this game #4 in their top 100 games of all time (issue #100) so you can see the impact this game has in history.
Now you can download this game on Xbox LIVE Arcade, but it just isn't the same because Microsoft's 360 Controller has a truly awful DPad (damn you M$!!!!!!!!!!!!). It also has some bad lag (why can't they get it right already?) when playing online so that isn't so much fun. I would recommend buying the Super NES version if you can't track down a copy of Street Fighter Collection 2 for PlayStation or Capcom Arcade Classics Collection Vol. 1 for PlayStation 2/Xbox (these are the Arcade perfect versions!).
I remember renting this game about 10 times from my local video store cuz my mom wouldn't buy me any fighting games due to violence scares back in the early '90s. I could pretty much play this game forever and never get tired until it's time to sleep or eat. It only gets better when you have a friend to play with and then gets totally awesome when money is involved! I'll bankrupt anybody!

I had completely forgotten about this game until I stumbled across it on Amazon. This game is so much fun. Usually, I just favor the Mario and Donkey Kong Country games, but this game is really entertaining! If you like old fighting games, I definitely recommend this one.

This is 2-D fighting perfected.

I don't think many things are perfect, this game is perfect. Any street fighter maybe before or since this game is inferior.
