THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 5

Halo 2 is the most incredible gaming experience you can imagine. Breaking it down:
Graphics - Fantastic! Fluid, colorful, interesting
Story - Simply mind blowing! The plot in Halo 2 is so completely riveting it rivals ANY popular science fiction or fantasy movie plot! Yes, I'm talking as entrancing as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings!
Playability - Plenty of improvements including new weapons, access to Covenant weapons and vehicles, and shooting two-handed. PLUS... a fascinating playing twist early in the game, which I won't reveal..

Every owner of XBox should buy this game. Every owner of an alternative system should buy XBox so they can buy this game! This gets my highest recommendation possible.

DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST FPS

If you like FPS, and want to play a game full of really cool details just stop reading this and buy it. The limited edition comes in a really nice case and a second dvd with some details of the game but you might end the game before watching or it would spoil the fun in the game and it's storyline. BUY THIS NOW!!

ok, this review should carry on for awhile since i'm so hyped about the game so here we go.
one of the most anticipcated games ever. anyone who played the original could not watch the trailer to Halo2 without gawking. Unlike many who weren't thinking too properly on the high demand for the product i ordered mine from an online retailer who i knew would come through for me. i spent an additional $9 on overnight shipping through FedEx. it arrived in a little under a day at 10:48am this morning.
But enough of that, details on the game right? let's start with the bad...well first off the game has changed ALOT since the first Halo. the Human guns are so pathetic in comparrison to the Covenant's fire-power that it's just ridiculous. with the exception to the Dual SMGs. the popular needle gun also lost a significant amount of power in Halo2. and the worst of all is the grenades fuse is so short that throwing a long distance grenade or trying to retreat from one for that matter is almost a waste of finger movement. most of the time when i see a grenade land by my feet i'll throw all of mine out in the field before i die in the next second that i have to live.
now the good...the graphics and music are beyond exceptional. the story line is 10X better than the original with beautiful, beautiful CGIs. there's more weapons and more vehicles than the first. way more action! difficulty level is also much better! i died 6 times during the very first mission on normal difficulty setting. the multiplayer game has been expanded as well to much better lengths which adds the to the fun of LAN parties or just a split screen shoot-it-up with friends. and of course, xbox live! xbox live has hardly any lag time if you got a good connection and adds the repetative value to the game. with xbox live the game can last for years of enjoyment. the game comes in a beautiful case that i can't even explain because you'd have to see it for yourself and also comes with a 2 month free trial of xbox live. the bonus DVD comes with the limited edition of Halo2 and i haven't fully watched it yet but i watched the behind the scenes part and it is really good. not some cheap dvd to confuse consumers into going for the LE version and spending $5. it is well worth it and pretty lengthy. it made me laugh a couple times. the guys at Bungie are too damn nerdy, lol. i was playing the game for a few hours straight and my eyes were on fire because i don't think i had blinked since i started the xbox up. and to further explain how good the game is, i bought an xbox just for halo2!!! if you're just ordering now expect to wait quite a bit before you recieve your order because i'm sure in retail stores it'll be sold out til Xmas time. my friend pre-ordered one from BestBuy a month ago and the earliest time they said he'd be able to recieve his copy was November 18th.
i don't know what more i could say...if you played the first one this is a must. if you're knew to Halo it doesn't matter to much because you can jump into the story pretty quick and the secondary booklet that comes with the game gives a few pages of prolouge. this is the greatest thing i've purchased in a very long time. i've already told many people that if they don't see me anymore not to assume i'm dead because this game is going to occupy me for a week or two before i get any social interaction again. =P

The Best Game of the Year

OVERVIEW: Great gameplay. There are new enemies, a whole new set of maps, dual-wield, and new challenges to face in this game. It's not a redux of the old game by much. The storyline is much more complex than the first Halo, especially in exploring cataclysmic events taking place in the Covenant Hierarchy. And there are long cutscenes developing these stories, as well as sidestories of human characters other than the Chief.

X-Box live is full of people and plenty of action if you like that sort of thing. It seems pretty good at matching players to skill levels. As in the first Halo you can do system linkage. BUT, I got a second X-Box, hoping to play the awesome campaign mode on a separate screen with my pal, only to find out that campaign mode can only be played on a single X-Box, split screen only. I find that incomprehensibly dumb. How much effort did they put into designing a wonderful, awesome, incredible campaign mode, only to skimp on the multiplayer aspect? Hey Bungie -- please fix that in Halo3 ok?

COMBAT:
Swordplay is a skill in its own. If your target is close, you can use the right trigger to make a lunge attack. This can even allow fantastic changes in direction in midair (including straight up), but watch out, it could also send you right over a ledge. Still, it's VERY gratifying to take out four elites in close quarters.

Hunters were a joke in the first Halo. One magnum bullet in the back would kill them. This time they're not easy. And if you thought the Covenant Elites were bad, there are new, deadlier variants in this game. But then there's Brutes..

VEHICLES:
Covenant vehicles now get a boost of speed with the left trigger. There's a few new vehicles, and now you can drive just about every vehicle you encounter, like the Covenant tank. There's new dropships -- as ever, you cannot fly a dropship.

All vehicles take damage -- you can shoot the turrets off of a dropship if you have heavy weapons -- amd damage shows physically rather than with a damage meter.

The Banshee no longer hovers. Try to stand still, and you sink. Also, the more damage it takes, the faster it will sink if you try to hover. You're supposed to barrel roll and flip, however, which keeps you aloft and HELPS you dodge and strafe. GREAT!

Halo 2 is definitely a faster paced game that asks you to rely on the skills you earned in the first game, while learning new ones. I'd recommend it to anyone in search of a sustained adrenaline rush.

A typical sequel.

So I just got Halo 2 today and spent the last three hours playing it. I haven't beaten it yet, but I think I've gotten enough to write a review on it. This review deals only with the single-player campaign; I don't have anyone to do multi-player with but I know that the original rocked and this one would rock even more in multiplayer.

My verdict? It's an improvement on the original, but that's all it is. Which is not a bad thing, considering how good the original was in the first place. It's not an improvement in the sense that GTA San Andreas is an improvement over both of the previous GTAs (much larger scope and range of activities) but it's more of a tweaking of what was good in Halo, fixing what was bad, adding a few more twists, and releasing it. To me, it still looks and plays like the original Halo, just with a continued storyline and a few new skills.

One thing that is most appreciated by me is the improved Marine AI, and the fact that I don't have to drive the warthog all the time. You can choose to navigate, or to man the guns and let the A.I. take you where you should go. The maps are a bit confusing, and there will be times where you won't be sure where you have to go. Just wander around a bit and you'll find out where to go, there are no time-limits to worry about.

I am still trying to get used to the weapons. The battle rifle is a fair replacement for the old assault rifle, since you have the submachine gun as a fully automatic weapon. Shotguns seem to shoot a bit slower and they feel..."softer" is the word that comes to my mind. Some say the needlers have been improved, i'm trying to see where that's the case. They don't seem to home in as well as they did in the first game, though they do seem more powerful. The new range of covenant weapons available are pretty impressive too, you finally get the Fuel Rod Gun and the Energy Sword :D sweeet...

All in all, it is a very good game but only because Halo was a very good game. If you liked the first one, you will like this.

Halo was ahead of it's time and has the sales record and reputation to prove it. Halo 2 is more an extension of Halo. The play mechanics has been refined. The online play is addictive. The graphics for Halo was a 10 out of 10, but I would the graphics for Halo 2 at only an 8.5, not because they are any worse, but because the standard has been raised in the years since Halo came out. The surround-sound comes in very handy to detect action from your rear, so play with surround sound when you can, even if one ear is filled with the ear piece as you play online.

This is a great game. There's not much I can say that you haven't yet heard, except that I'm 51 years old and love this game.

Call it a 4.5 rounded up

I bought the xbox for and because of Halo. Halo 2 is even better. It is the best shooter bar none. Everything is improved about this game (from the single player aspect) graphics, weapons, sound, et al. The story is great and I would recomend reading the Halo books before playing this game. The special addition dvd has many interesting tidbits and is worth the extra 5 dollars. I got it 2 days after the release date with paying normal shipping charges. I rate this a 4.5 because of the total length (a little short) of the game and because I didn't like the ending. I will not spoil any of it and I think I understand the why's but it does take a half star off of being perfect. That being said, I say again, this is the best shooter bar none.

It's finally here!

Well the wait is finally over and as soon as the 9th rolled around I was about 10th Halo 2 receiver at the store here on base. Of course it was sold out the first day. Halo 2 has made more money than the most popular movie out there and that is incredible. Kiss GTA goodbye (it sucks anyway! and so does the PS2). Halo 2 is in the house. So here are the pluses and minuses I have about the game.

+ Amazing graphics, especially if you have an HDTV like me.
+ Excellent music score (although some people hate the guitar inclusions I love them)
+ Still the same superb controls as in the first Halo.
+ More destructive vehicles and weapons.
+ Duel Wielding to mow down your enemies.
+ Longer than the first.
+ XBOX Live!!!!!!!!!!!

- As like most game endings, it blows.
- Still wasn't that long on normal although I know Heroic and Legendary will be crazy again.
- Lots of graphic pop-ups during cinematics. This really doesn't get in the way of the fun.

Well as you can see, the pluses definately outway the minuses and so the only reason I give an overall 4.75 out of 5 is the story. It's just not as long as I thought it would be and when the end of the game hit I was very, very surprised to see I was actually done. I just felt it should have gone longer and felt nothing was really accomplished at the end except only for killing the head brute and the Prophets. XBOX Live! is frickin amazing and revolutionizes the way online games should be made. Microsoft absolutely owns Sony when it comes to online gaming. All hail the XBOX!

Okay, I know that this game will get a bunch of good reviews that it is the best game ever. Well obviously this game is fun, which I do admit, it is. They haven't gone through the flows of this game. There are a lot of good points of this game, especially multi-player and the fact that it works on Xbox Live. That alone could've made me give it 5 stars but there are other things with this game.

The first good fact, the graphics are gorgeous, alot of time went into making the environments as real as they get. Another good thing is the ability to duel weild weapons, this adds to the stratergy, although it does take the place of the grenades, which kind of threw me off. Also there is more of a storyline, and we get to go to Earth this time around.

All of these problems come from the Campaign Mode.

Okay to start off with the bad I should mention the Allies AI. The programmers must've put more work into the enemies than with the allies because they'll either commit suicide (which is no different from the first) or kill you, that's right, they'll kill you again, and again. I found this to be more of a problem when they drive the warthogs and I drove a ghost. Honestly, I kept getting hit from behind, I died more to them than with the covenent. So here's what I did, I either shot them, blew up the warthog, or let them be stupid and run into the covenent guns ablazing.

Another thing, the storyline, while interesting at first, returns to it's old routine and yes there is another Halo you have to go onto. The storyline also includes a new character, an elite. While this sounds good on paper, he's really no different than Master Chief, except he doesn't have a flash light but replaces it with a Camoflage suit that last for about 10 seconds.

Dialogue can be really slow, Master Chief mainly has one liners, Cortana, while still funny at some instances, has lost alot of her attitude, and Commander Keyes sounds too much like Cortana.

Also the campaign mode is alot easier than the first game. When I played the first game it took me weeks to beat it on normal, while it took me 2 days on the sequel.

All and all, if you're just buying this game for the Campaign mode, you'll be feeling deprived by the end of the game, but if you plan on playing this on Xbox Live, then this is the best first person multiplayer game.

Disc 1:The Game
Halo 2 is probably the best piece of work I have ever seen!!!!
Halo 2 is an all out action, sc-fi first person shooter!!! Dang I wish sc-fi movies were all like this!!! The story takes place right after the orignal Halo, if you didn't play the first game ... well... don't get me started; JUST BUY IT!!!!!!! The whole Covenant and Human conflict is still going on!!! In Halo 2 the game tells a lot more about the Halo universe *cough* the PROPHETS *cough*!!!! Halo 2 is a lot more stylish and has bascialy been refurbished!!! This game has improved in everything from graphics, to level structure, new and improved weapons, the dual wield feature, improved marine inteligence, vast landscapes and breathtaking scenery, awesome cut scenes which flavor the story!!! The new armor make gameplay at times a little easier with the shield able to charge up faster but, it can sometimes be bad if you can't find cover though!!! The new dual wield system makes the game much better with many deadly combos and so much opputuinty!!! I give credit to Bungie and Microsoft for making this possible, with all their hard work and dedication!!! The game itself has two different story lines: one being about the arbiter/ a covenant Elite/ which gives the game from the covenant point of view and of course Master Chief!!! The story in campaign mode spans out from 15 unique and just plainly unbelievable!!! In Normal mode the game takes about 10-14 hours of gameplay but, as you get into Heroic and Legendary modes it starts to get tough!!! As the Arbiter you play along as a member of a covenant Spec. Ops. group fighting against Heretics, from the Flood, to fighting alongside the humans the in an unlikely alliance against the Brutes. Well anybody who has played the first Halo knows who da' Master Chief is... so just give me a break!!! Fine, the Master Chief is a human cyborg (Spartan) who is known as Demon to the Covenant. With him you defend the Cario Space Station, chase them away from earth, take on a whole Covenant army on a second halo(a super weapon), pursue a Prophet, fight your way through the Covenant High Temple, and survive another encounter with the Flood!!!

Game Outline:
Levels:
The Heretic- cut scene kicking off the story of both the soon to be Arbiter and The Master Chief!!!
The Armory- A quick tutorial along wit another cut- scene!!!
Cario Station-/Master Chief/ Defend the stations MAC gun from destruction!!!
Outskirts-/Master Chief/ Rally scattered marines, in an counter- attack, clear hostiles out of outskirts of city!!!
Metropolis- Take Main Bridge, Drive Covenant out of Meteropolis. Defeat the Scarab.
The Arbiter-/Arbiter/ Infiltrate Space Station and eliminate all heretics and other complication *cough* THE FLOOD *cough*
The Oracle-/Arbiter/ Kill Heretic leader!!!
Delta Halo-/Master Chief/ Take out Covenant Army on second Halo , locate the Prophet of Regret!!!
Regret-/Master Chief/ Kill Prophet of Regret... at all cost!!!
*PERSONAL NOTE: I bet you that the Prophet of Regret probably regrets coming to earth, getting his fleet blown to pieces by the core, and managing to get himself killed!!!
Sacred Icon-/Arbiter/- Lower the shield protecting the sacred Icon!!!
Quarantine Zone-/Arbiter/- Retrive the icon at all cost... a short cut to h*ll if you ask me!!!
Gravemind-/Master Chief/- Stop the Prophets before it is too late!!! Is ther a gas leak in here because the covenant are shooting at each other!!! Well at least you don't have to do all the dirty work!!! Reminds me of the civil war if you ask me, dang history class!!!
Uprising-/Arbiter/ Join up in arms against the Brutes!!!
High Charity-/Master Chief/ Stop Truth, while Cortana deals with the index!!!
The Great Journey-/Arbiter/ form an alliance/ Human and Covenant/ keep Tartarus, leader of the Brutes, from activating Halo!!! Reveals cliff-hanger ending for the sequel Halo 3, rummored to be a starter game for the Xbox 360 next generation gaming system!!!

Besides all that typing I just did about the Campaign mode, there are many multi- player options and xbox live options!!! For regular multi- player it is the same stuff except for the new and improved maps, vechiles, and heck I guess everything like mentioned before!!! You can now play online and have 2 times the fun with people all over the world, which is so awesome!!! You also have profile opitions eithe being a spartan or elite!!! There is know reason to buy this game unless you are old enough because the game is rated Mature fro a reason, otherwise it is a must buy!!! 5/5 ***** stars Excellent!!! I will never forget this game!!!

Disc 2: Extras

By now you are probably tired of reading... so take my word on it and buy it!!! The second disc shows the making of the game, original artwork, and more!!! It also gives you some cool reading material from a covenant point of view!!! You could probably live without the extras but, for a fan like me it is worth it!!! It's only a few extra bucks so I just say get something worth your money like this!!!

The End
