I am 12 years old and I have had this game for about a month now. It is very fun and addictive. One thing I would like to point out, is that parents should not be worried by the rating saying T for teen and "mature sexual themes." These "mature sexual themes" do not exist. Unless they consider kissing as that, they don't have anything like that in it. You control your sims and help them make friends, get a job, etc.
When you first start out, you choose the last name for your sim, and the first name. Then you choose gender (male or female) then choose the head, clothing, and personality. Then you can right a biography about your sim, but you can just skip that. Then, you click done and you can then move them into a house or lot. You can choose an already built house, or buy an empty lot and build from scratch. After that, start living! you have to get your sims a job, and help them fulfill their needs: hunger, by feeding them, comfort, by letting them sit down in a chair or sofa or couch, hygiene, by telling them to take a bath or shower (don't worry, nudity is blurred out), bladder, by making them use the toilet (also blurred out), energy, by giving them coffee, expresso, or making them go to bed, social, by having them do something with another sim, fun, by having them do something fun such as playing on the computer, and finally room, this is not a major thing, but to improve the room rating, just keep it clean, and put up paintings and such. So, should you get this game? Absolutely! It's worth it, although it can get kind of repetitive after a while, unless you get expansion packs, but despite that, go ahead and get it! It's worth it.

The Sims is the most funnest game I've ever played! You get to create a family, build a house, get jobs, control your family, and decorate your place in just your style. After you've gotten used to this game, buy one of the expansion packs to add other options to your Sims' lifestyle. A great gift, and a great game. THIS IS A DEFINATE BUY!!

(used to be) The Greatest Sims Game

I played this game 6 years ago and I was really addicted to this game! I spent my whole weekend on my computer playing this game.

This game is a little bit different than other Sims game available on the market. Sims games usually simulates business on park, gadget, city, etc. But here, you will play a game that simlates your own life!

Start this game by creating your chracter(s). It could be you yourself, your own family, or just anybody you like. Choose his/her looks and personality. Once you have created a family, you can choose a lot available on the neighborhood and start building your own house. You may also buy a built house. The next step is furnishing your house with your preferred furnitures, home appliances, and gadgets.

After having your own house, you can start playing your characters. You have full control over them. You can make them do whatever you like. You can get a job, do house works, make friends, get a girlfriend then get married and have a baby.

As this is an old game, this game is not that fun anymore this time. The newer version of this game is now available on the market with higher price and better gameplay and features. If you have a high-end PC and want to try the latest game, go get the newer version. I would recommend this game for those who like to play classic game or those smart budget-minded.

Best game ever created even brtter than the newer ones:-)

First of all i am 12 and this game is good for people up to i gues 18. This is the best game that i have ever played!!!!! i definatly recomend it to any one who likes pretty realistic games!!!! altho watch how long you play it cause once i played it for like 5 hours. you really get into it. some people think that you are munipulating the people into doing things but you dont you really have to take care of them and watch there meaters cause if you dont let them eat for i think three days they die or if they are swimming and they get really tired than they dround and if they dont go to the bathroom they pee on the floor:-( and you have to clean it up unless you have a maid or buttler. well that is all i have to say for now bye.

This is not a fast-paced game

I give this game 4 fun stars out of 5 because the slowness can become tedious once in a while. It takes a long time to make friends, build skills, get promotions (just like in real life), and if all does not go well I get discouraged. Luckily you can choose to leave a family that is giving you trouble and play with a different one. I enjoy being able to build my own house, create characters with different personalities, and micro-manage every aspect of their lives. The game works well on Windows XP, but I would recommend a very good graphics card and 512MB of RAM to make it run smoothly.

I had a couple of technical issues with it crashing, and a house and family disappeared from the neighborhood (though their neighbors can still call them up, strangely enough). I contacted EA and they were very unhelpful in resolving the issue. The game does have some bugs that can be fixed with downloadable patches. Plus you need to download a lot of things to make it more interesting, such as wall lights, new furniture, different wallpaper and flooring, etc. What comes with it is limited. I suppose this is why expansion packs are made. Four out of 5 stars overall because of the technical issues and the limitations.

please be careful - extremely addictive!!!!

i played this at my niece's house yesterday when we were visiting but it was on windows not mac,and i thought everyone saying it was so addictive was ridiculus but guess what happened? i played it and got extremely addicted!!! it's so much fun except i tried building their house and got stuck with one floor and
some stairs and that was it but when it was time for school it was neat how the mom walked up behind the kid and bent down to hug! and then the paper came and the dad went to get the paper and read it then stuffed it into his pocket!! and then it was 3 PM
and their kid came home and just stood there and then ran off to stop a kid on his bike to talk. but i couldn't put their house up i guess i should have bought one instead.

This is a VERY good game. It's addictive and fun.

You get a sim, manage their life, get them married.. Just help them through life. Although you could just kill them off.

Ahem.

Although this is a good game, I am giving it four stars overall. Why? Because it freezes- atleast twice when I play it. I'm not sure if it's my computer or what. I only downloaded one object for it, and even when I deleted that it still froze. It may be my dad's loads of useless junk filling up the computer, but it still bugs me.

Other than that, it's awesome. I'm getting two expansion packs to add to the fun, too, and I recommend you to do the same- Because it does get boring after a while.

Yah...

I played this game with my friends and I ended up getting in trouble. I had played the original "Sim" games with my dad and we both enjoyed them, but this...this...well, I really don't know what this is. I saw things like female nudity and gross humor, but I suppose you have to make games over the top to sell them.

okay so overall, i think this game is ultra sweet. :) My sister got it for christmas like 3 years ago .. & I became ADDICTED along with my cousin. He would come over after school,, or in the morning on weekends & we'd play NON-STOP. It was crazy. Just last year, my mom bought me the Unleashed expansion pack & I was even MORE addicted to it. Now, I'm hopefully gonna get the rest of them && the Sims 2 Holiday Edition for this year's christmas.

Something weird happened with my game last year too ..

Like I made a family called the Monopoly family, & when i went back to play it later, two weird faces were on the overview, rather than the family's faces. the faces had like a red background to it & they were upside down.. im still not sure what they were but it was really freaky so i decided to check it out, & when i clicked on the house to enter it, it threw me outta the game. so i went back in & deleted the family & everything else with it. so now im kinda like "whoa" with this game ... but its still fun. (:
