Great X-Pak to a great game!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 25 / 32

It's obvious that Mr. RTS doesn't know what an X-Pak is, so I will explain it. To clarify to all those out there who don't know what X-Paks are:

An Expansion Pack adds to existing features by adding new content. Not new features, not new physics.

Even then, Warchiefs adds new content AND new features. From the three new Indian civs that play remarkably different from each other and from the europeans to the addition of needed units for various strategies, to new maps, new play types, new victory conditions, new no-rush abilities...the list of new content and features for Warchiefs is enough to fill several pages.

In short, if you like Age of Empires 3, you need this expansion pack. Even if you don't like Age 3, this X-Pak may possibly bring you around. Age 3 is a great addition to the series and this is almost as fine an X-Pak as the Conquerers was for Age2.

Warning: It comes with several new bugs, but unlike what the previous reviwer stated, it actually fixes several problems (Ott endless barracks glitch, German settler wagon pathfinding issues to name a few) from Age3. Buy it, play it, get it patched, and you'll find this is beyond a brilliant game.

Everything in moderation? not in this case

This deserves the expansion of the year award... i dont believe there is such a thing as too much fun... in this case it may be true; three new civs, new units, more to do in home cities, more cards, and a whole new campaign! i will admit the natives are lacking in some areas such as construction but other than that this was a great buy, its worth the money and anyone who disagrees is seriously confused. i would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys any AOE especially AOE3, it basically completes the game and it really brings some closure to the live of the blacks
sincerely,
tony

This "Warchiefs" expansion for the highly successful Age of Embpires III allows you to play as one of three new civilizations:

AZTEC - Based on a strong infantry consisting of several units, including elite infantry.

IROQUOIS - Equipped with artillery and siege weaponry, the Iroquois civilization can mount a powerful but slow-moving assault.

SIOUX - A cavalary based civilization that strike hard and fast.

Each new civilization has unique units, buildings and upgrades for the European civilizations from the original game. They now allow you to earn civilian specific bonuses, build units at a new mercenary saloon, collect new cards, and battle toward victory with the new REVOLUTION feature.

The bottom line: If you enjoyed Age of Empires III, you will want to purchase the War Chiefs expansion.

Be careful this is adictive...

I've been playing this game since it was first released and added the expansion pack as quickly as it came out. I just don't get tired of it. I highly recommend it.

The newest release builds on the past two with all of the fantastic strategy included in the earlier games. The new improvements are vast and I'm sure that other users and reviews will be able to expand on them more directly. However, if you've played AoE games in the past, this one will not disappoint. They've dropped some of the more esoteric and mundane steps (like villagers constantly returning to town center) and have added simplifying features but haven't sacrificed any of the strategy. I think version three finally brings it all together.

There are a few features which are lacking, however, the scenario game play is a little weak in AoE III and I didn't see any addition in the expansion pack. Also, the scenario creator has so much potential for active users to build situations that others might like to play but requires so much time and effort as to be useless.

On the whole, I certainly recommend this game and the expansion pack to anyone who is interested in strategy games.

Great addition to the fanchise

Warchiefs adds both new content and new features to AOE3. There are new Indian empires that play remarkably different from each other and from the Europeans. The additional multi player options, maps, play types, victory conditions, and tools are all great additions to the game. A must have for any AOE fan!

A great upgrade.

Well worth the small cost to upgrade "Age of Empires 3." Not only does it add new material, maps, and civilizations, but it also rids the original version of some of the kinks and quirks that were never addressed with a patch.

Age of Empires III: WarChiefs Expansion Review

I found the expansion to Age of Empires III to be extremely enjoyable. It was good to be able to play the game from the Indians' circle. You can play it with just Indian Tribes or you are able to mix the settlers together working side by side.
I have never been disappointed in any of the Age of Empires Games since the first one and these most recent addition are every bit as enjoyable with so many upgrades and improvements to the game.
The WarChiefs Expansion Pack is well worth adding to your Age of Empires Collection. Enjoy!!!

Excellent!

This game is an outstanding addition to the Age of Empires saga. The game combines excellent graphics and a great storyline for single player. Skirmishes are very fun with the new civilizations and technologies. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes a good RTS game!

WarChiefs Expansion makes a good game better

The WarChiefs Expansion adds a lot to Age of Empires III. New Indian civilizations. And new maps. Both help keep the game from getting too old and familiar.

And the WarChiefs Expansion fixes a few annoying problems with the original Age of Empires III. One example -- the healers now automatically heal wounded units around them. Before you had to target the healer to a particular wounded unit. That was too much trouble, and I never did it. Now I use the automatic healing all the time.

As a rule, I don't like expansions. Once I buy the game, I don't want to pay the same price again for limited new content. But WarChiefs Expansion breaks the rule. It adds enough to make it worth the money.

the age of empire 3 the warchief comes with 3 entire new civilization which allows player to have a more variety of stragegy. but when the computer uses the native, they suck so bad is like they are not even trying. overall the warchief brings new unit, building, mode for all civilizations. it will worth your money, but don't expected too much, especially from the natives.
