Hooked...a little

I bought this game yesterday on launch and it's a welcome addition to the Wii. The fishing attachment isn't comfortable for me, so I do without it...although it is well built. This game does not have top tier graphics, but it is not an ugly game and if you are looking for instant domination of the fish in these lakes you are in for a rude awakening. The fish are smart and down right picky...so you have to see what works and then use it. I found that working the tournements will give you better lures and in turn increase your chances of catching those bigs ones that you see in the depths. You have to learn what lure to use for the fish because they are all at different depths and like I said before they are selective of their diet. Once you land a big one you have to set that hook quick...and then hang on!!! These fish will go left, right, up, down...and if you're lucky they even jump out of the lake to show you what you have a chance of catching. It gets pretty intense...and it gets better as your tackle box gets filled up...SO ICE UP THAT VIRTUAL BEER AND GET THE VIRTUAL FRIES CRISPY...GET HOOKED!

I Like It!

I have found this game to be very fun to play. I dont care for the free fishing pole controller and I wish you could play multi-player without going online. Otherwise, once you figure out the proper technique for catching fish in this game, it is very fun. Dont be frustrated if you dont see any fish at first, you need to go to the tutorial to find out where they are. Remember, for this game to truly be like fishing, you have to have good days and bad days. I recommend it to anyone who has gone fishing for real, but not to someone looking for a all-out-action-type fishing game (there is no such thing). This is one of my favorite games for WII (also like guitar hero and power pros baseball). I have read other reviews elsewhere and was surprised by some of the negative feedback. I think this is the best fishing game I have played yet.

My daughter (who is 8) and I both enjoy playing this game. She wanted this one for the fishing controller. The controller is designed so that the you place the wii remote inside the rod unfortunately then the wii remote can't see the tv. Also for those that are right-handed, you tend to hold the wii remote in your right-hand because that really is the primary remote to use in this game. Well the fishing controller is designed for the wii remote in the left-hand. Basically we fount the wii fishing controller complete useless and will throw away. That is why this review gets 4 stars. However the most important is the game and we enjoy seeing who can catch the biggest fish. We both play in tournament mode with a goal of winning the overall tournament for the year. We are enjoying this tremendously

The level of difficulty for this game is pretty hard. You really have to know how the weather, time of day and time of the year all play a factor in where to find the fish. I honestly thought it would be more like the fishing game at the arcade. Maybe that game is the Sega version which is coming out very soon. And despite the excitement of getting a fishing rod for the controller, it's so difficult for you to put the controls in and take them out later so I ended up not using it when playing. Although these factors make the game disappointing, my competitiveness makes me want to beat the game and therefore I end up playing it for hours on end.

Hubby wanted this game and I was happy to oblige. This game is awesome for the Wii. I wouldn't recommend it for younger players under the age of 8-9 because they get bored waiting for the fish to bite.

It is very realistic and the fishing rod that comes with the game is great. Our only gripe is that you cannot control the main menus while your remote is in the fishing rod. A minor annoyance. There is amateur and pro mode. The graphics are typical WII... so don't expect 360 or PS3 graphics. It is fun and it get you extremely sweaty. Who would have thought that fishing is actually work.

Would highly recommend to add to your catalogue of games and especially for fishing enthusiasts or for those who have been fishing in the past and miss it.

The Fish are Biting...

I have not fished since I was a child... wouldn't do it now as an adult.. except on my wii... and Hooked is GREAT!

Different scenery, different seasons, different weather conditions... and lots of fun.

The game is glitchy when it comes to totalling all fish during a tournament and often does not add newly caught fish. However, the graphics, sound effects and virtual fishing highly out ways the glitchy addition problem!

I recommend this game - you do not need the reel, but since it comes with the game it does add to the fun!

I have found some of the Wii games have been a real waste of money but this game is alot of fun. We have played for hours at a time. My husband and I have been trying to catch the Big Shadow! What a challenge! Cant wait to get home and try it again. One complaint, It is confusing with the saving and loading. Features could be easier to use.

Rod useless

Bought this one for the kids. I bought it specifically FOR the fishing rod and thought it would make the game even more fun for them. Unfortunately, the rod is useless. If you attach the rod tip, the controller doesn't even work! The Wii is new for us and we don't have any other fishing games, so I can't really compare the game play. We played for about 20 minutes and caught one fish. It was pretty exciting to finally catch one, since we hooked one and lost it first. I can see how it might become fun, but it's much more challenging than I anticipated. Not a good game for young ones.

This game thrilled me. After going through the tutorials, starting to play, getting my first bite, fighting the bass, and watching it swim away, I was hooked, alright. The fishing pole attachment it comes with is the only reason I wont give this a five star, it feels a bit cheaply made, like I may break it if I reel in a bit hard. But it has held up so far, so I cant really complain too much.

The problem I have with this particular game, is the fishing-rod controller. It is not constructed well and came apart in my hands. The game is like you are really catching fish. You must change lures with the conditions as you would in real life. I suggest practicing before you join a tournament. Once you get the basics of casting and reeling, you'll become a pro in no time!
