Fun game but pretty lame

Tony Hawk Underground is a fun game but its hella easy my friend rented the game and i beat the whole thing the same day. I mean not even one day i beat it like in 5 hours. And the game is kinda cheasy the last level your old best friend tells you you have to follow his "lines" while you are following his lines grinding stuff he is shooting fire out his butt. Its pretty lame. A plus in this game is that you can drive cars and get off your skateboard and run around. its also pretty cool because they have hella more games like instead of the original trick attack graffiti and free run you can choose from about eight games. The game is a real toss up between a buy and a rent if you just want the game for the bragging rights then just rent it because it will only take about 3-8 hours to beat, but if you want the game to play multiplayer its a definite buy.

This is a really good game

Review done by Hunter (8 years old): I like it because I'm into skateboarding and because I like to see all of the tricks. I think it is cool when blood shoots out. I like it when he grinds. I like getting lots of points grinding.

This Is the BEST Video Game I've Played thus far!

I LOVE T.H.U.G! It starts out when you are a lying skate rat, but later you turn superstar. If you like the T.H. franchise, you will love this game. You can get off your skateboard, chat with peds, make your own tricks, levels, decks and goals. It's your game. You have a pal named Eric. (Spoiler: He later becomes your enemy and there is a goal where you have to beat him.) The story campaign is fun. I beat the whole thing in a few days. You can also drive cars! I like the car in the New York level. You learn special tricks from pros like Muska and Mike V. Now I'll rate the levels.

New Jersey
This level is fun. The car makes THUG look a little like Ridge Racer, but that's a good thing. I like the Train Station the most. 3/5

New York
This level is is great! The car is thrashed but I like it. This level has some tight spots like the Brooklyn Banks and 78 Water St. 4/5

Tampa
This level is the most illegal of the lot. Complete with a strip club and a Police Car to jack. 3/5

San Diego
This level is plain. The gardener's kart is cool, but San Diego is the only level I do not like. :-( 2/5

Hawaii
I like the insane hotel jump and the old pickup. The scary tiki heads are pretty cool. 4/5

Vancouver, Canada
I like the limo you can drive. Also the hotel is pretty awesome. 4/5

Moscow
The Russian sedan is OK, and I like Saint Basil's but everthing else is a little plain. 2/5

Bonus Level: KISS Concert
I like the prked airplanes and the baja kart. This Level is cool. But I especially like the KISS concert. 4/5

Ok, if you liked my review, you will love Tony Hawk Underground. Bye!

damn good man

this game kicks! one problem though I remember one day I was on a level just finishing a trick I think, and BAM!, the game freezes and I haven't been able to play which sucks badly now because that game's like my favorite out of all the games I own. I hope the bastards at activision tech support will help!!!!!!!!!!
OR ELSE!!

ok first off i dont have this game YET but i feel like writing a review anyways because i played a demo of it.

ok i see that a lot of people are complaining about the soundtrack. the soundtrack is the best so far from all of the thps games (yes i have them all but for ps1 im getting ps2 soon). so what if you havent heard of the song before? maybe you will find some band you like from here. the bouncing souls are on there, jurassic 5 are on there, supposedly hieroglyphics is on there, and a bunch of other bands that you most likely didnt hear on mtv or the radio. and if you dont like any of the songs on it well then thats really sad...

one feature i really like is the create your own level part. sure the other games (from thps2 and on) have it but i think this one is the best. a nice feature in the game is that it has a story line to keep you playing. of course if you are a skateboarder you would probably have a good guess on whats gonna happen next in the story because well duh you skate.

also just because you play a skateboarding game doesnt mean you are a skateboarder. so dont be claiming what you can do ("yeah i can do an double kickflip to a nosegrind to a handstand manual to a 360-flip in real life on an actual skateboard" ok yeah right lets see it. i dont even think rodney mullen can do that.) and if you want to be a "punk" because mtv says its in dont start skating so you can be "punk". sure a lot of punks skate, but being "punk" is more beliefs than anything else. basically dont try to be something your not.

and parents: dont try to push your kid into being a pro skater buying all of tony hawks stuff so your kid can be all cool. it isnt and it creates more problems to the true skaters out there. and about the semi-nudity, bad language, slight violence (ok blood coming out of the skaters head when he/she falls): 1. the nudity is only semi. they are in thong bikinis dancing around. no big deal your kid probably knows about that stuff already. 2. bad language- im sure your kids have heard it before. if its such a problem just tell your kids that the language the game is using isnt acceptable. or turn off the music. 3. violence- what violence? blood from falling? when your kid has that occassional fall from something and he/she scrapes/cuts up their knee dont they see blood? stop being so over protective.

Super SWEEET

This game is super SWEEEET!!! It's like totally like freak me out thuper! No im just screwin with you. This game rocks, Its a little tricky with the upgrades (wallpushes, fastplants, acid drops, and running!!) but it's all good for veterans of the THPS series. It includes 9 blow your mind levels, 75 music tracks including Social Distortion the Transplants and the Refused plus THUG includes a hole new gaming format. THUG boots the old formula and rides the new wannabe skater angle. You go from bunk to punk while meeting various Pro skaters (2 new guys Arto Saari and Paul Rodriguez)and get to create boards, tricks, goals and not to mention YOU. That's right instead of the reg. ol' crappy selection of retarded elephant men that you could make on THPS 2,3&4 you can make your own you! They've intensified the realism by adding the map a face feature (only for PS2) Yep yep well thats probably all you want to hear me talk. *pUnK%R()cK

awesome!

Dissapointed

Let me start off by saying that I am one of the biggest THPS players that you will ever meet. No, I didnt start when most started on THPS2, but the original THPS. Now for over 5 years I've been playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games, and Ill admit im a complete fanatic. So you can bet I layed away my THPS Underground and got it the first day it came out on my ps2. Well let me say that I am extremely dissapointed wth the game. Now don't get me wrong, it has great ideas for a new Tony Hawk experience. But I feel the game just changed too much. If you've played most (or all) THPS games then you know the formula of the game has always been the same.

Now the formula has changed. In every other game out there theres always some type of story mode were your the character and your going through some dumb, unorganized and weak story (for the most part not all games with a story mode) that makes no sense or would be better done with some other type of mode (like hey career mode.) Well THPS has fallen into this cateogory. I call it the POP category - going with the obvious popular choice and trying to work it into an already great game. I mean one thing I always like about THPS is that no matter how old the game got it would stick to the same formula, but still add just enough new things into it to make it better then the game before. I remember when they introduced the manual a while back - I could never ever go back the game before it, I just loved the manual too much. The new added characters were always great - they alaways felt like a plus. Now the feel unworthy of being in the game. I mean whats the point of them if the game is all about you.

The new THPS game has a few new features that really change the game up. The game is now all about YOU. Everythin is about YOU. There's a specialy photo thingy were you can put your face onto your character and continue to make the game all about YOU. Now I like this feature of the game but it stinks how they use this new feature. You see when you go into story mode you immediatly have to make a character - you can't just go into career mode and be one of the real time players in the game. The new added characters were always great - they alaways felt like a plus. Now the feel unworthy of being in the game. Now with the game being all about you they serve no purpose. This definitly turned me off to the game early because it's a game and we SHOULD have a choice if we want make a new character for story mode, not be forced to make a new one. Or maybe they couldv'e left the career mode and kept story mode and make it where you have ot make a new character if you want to go into story mode, but to make the real time players useful they couldv'e let career mode still be in the game.

All in all Tony Hawk's Underground is what you can call a dissapointment. It just doesn't live up to the hype and in my eyes and is worth a pretty good rent and a possible buy if your just a huge THPS fan lie myself (id still buy the game knowing aboutthe changes but the changes are just a letdown.) However the game has a low amount of replay value (about 13 hours - ya I beat it) and the game is now all about you.

Well I'd like to give more to this game, but im not into it. Could be that i bought XIII at the same time. This game is great if you like the same action of the last four Tony Hawk's, but im not into monotony. This game needs a face lift, and they tried with the story mode, but the story isn't believable. I found myself not caring if I get signed by peralta or that i made my demo video. But like i said if you want the same exact game as its first few but a new arena this games for you. Graphics are good tho. Haven't heard half the songs on it tho.
