Well it is Clear to me that this was a rush job.The graphics could have been much better.This version lost alot of the good stuff.No sound on the replay.The pit stop and the garage options are lost.I was disapointed.Overall i enjoy the game but it could have been so much better.

This game is not the Best NASCAR game on the market any more (NASCAR Thunder 2002 and the soon to be released 2003 are better versoins of this game), but it is better then NASCAR Heat 2002... . If you like NASCAR or racing games and don't want to spead a lot of money - this is a perfect pick up right now to get started on you PS2.

The original on PS1- is better!

I loved the first game on ps1- cool graphics, music, gameplay... on ps2- its ok graphics (not what it should), bad music, and horrible gameplay- if you like understear... and plowing through turns... buy a lawnmower instead of this game. If EA puts out anymore trash like this- they will ruin their awesome reputation. My copy is for sale... and I couldnt even give it away to my friends...

I love racing but not so much "racin'" which is what NASCAR is about, how many times can one go in a circle and have fun? Anyways, having gotten a PS2 I bought any game with wheels including NASCAR 2001. I have played previous versions of this game and, although this one's graphics are very realisitc, it's options for what you can do are terribly limited. I'm thinking, like the other reviewers wrote, they rushed this. You only have a few angles to view your car, not as many camera angles as on TV; you can't replay spectacular crashes (and they can be just that!) either at the end or during the race; the graphics MAJORLY break down when in traffic, complicated track situations, or even when you just want to use the rearview mirrow. Marks you leave on the track (say donuts) don't always stay there, and on and on. It's a fun enough game but could have been a whole lot better. Pros: Graphics are amazing, smoke, reflections, great. Cons: Choppy under processor pressure, very limited functionality/options to view the race and/or customize, announcers ignore you even when your kicking some serious rubber.

What was EA thinking???

I just bought this game. I'd seen the demo for it, and thought it would be great especially after owning SSX and Maden 2001, which was also released by EA. The game is fun, but the graphics are so substandard for the Playstation 2, that I'd have to say they can't be much better than the PS1's graphics. Shame on you EA. If you looking for a good racing game, and graphics are you kick, don't get this game.

EA has worked very hard to make this a true NASCAR game. A lot of "Gamers" don't understand games that you don't score points when you crash and burn. This game allows you to make raceday everyday, and those fans out there know what I mean. Effects are good, but the personality of NASCAR captured by the game is what makes this a game a GREEN FLAG!

Nascar 2001 has the feel of a game that was rushed to market. While all the big names and popular tracks are there, the game exhibits some inexcusable graphical flaws that distract from what could have been a superior game. The car and track models look top notch, that is until there's a lot happening on the screen and the resolution starts dropping. Edges get jaggy and the textures get blurry. In 2-player mode the resolution drops so much at times it seems like you're playing a PSOne game. Die hard NASCAR fans might be able to excuse these flaws for all the features and customizable options the game offers, but the rest of us would be better off going elsewhere for racing action

From an avid NASCAR fan who owns Nascar 1,2,3 for pc and also NASCAR 98, 99 for psx. This game is terrible I was totally disappointed with this release. When 8 or more cars are on the screen the graphics degrade to sub psx1 levels. When you use the mirrors its even worse. I bought it here but luckily was able to exchange it locally. EA Sports usually rocks but somehow this slipped through the doors. TRUST ME RENT IT FIRST, you'll decide to get something else.the rest of the game is great. EA why, why, why?

I would definitely recommend to anyone even THINKING about buying this game to rent it first. I am a big fan of EA sports games, but this one is particularly disappointing. The graphics are mediocre at best and the gameplay couldn't be more boring. The commentary quickly gets on your nerves, and the display gets choppy and digitized when alot of action is going on, especially when viewing the rear view mirror during a race. I think it could be a good game with some more work, so I hope EA takes this to heart for the 2002 version.

I thought this game was great fun. While the graphics may not be the best, you are racing with 19 other cars on the track. This game is a blast!
