Good idea...Bad Game - AGAIN!

This is easily the worst game I have ever played. There are many games that are as bad, but none that are worse. Constant crashing, 90s graphics, horrible repetitive sound effects, and an overall lack of strategy make this game an embarrassment to the tycoon game industry.

What's worse, the game is almost exactly the same as Prison Tycoon 2. The graphics are not improved (in fact almost every aspect from furnishings, to guards, to the inmates themselves ARE exactly the same as #2). Don't expect a "new and improved" game from its predecessors. If you hated either of the Prison Tycoons previously released-like 99% of the gamers who played them, you'll hate this game also.

So what is this game all about? You are in charge of running a prison. You must build housing, chow halls, hospitals, guard towers and similar buildings. A security fence and gates help keep the inmates captive (although they do jump the fence and escape on occasion). Once you build a structure, you must furnish it with appropriate items; beds in the cells, tables in the kitchen, etc. The inmates freely rome the prison grounds, most adhering to the schedule you create (one of the few new features in #3). Your guards also must be scheduled to cover the three shifts each 24hr period. Once everything is built, just sit back (for hours) and wait for the prison to build up its population. There is a lot of sitting and waiting in this game, so don't expect to spend much time actually playing.

The game is seriously glitchy, and tends to crash often. To combat this, you learn to save the game every few minutes, or your gonna have to do everything all over again. As of this review, an update has been released, although it doesn't seem to help the crashing. This same problem was common in #2, and despite 6 updates, never fixed.

The idea of a "Prison Tycoon" game is great, and the potential high, however I don't think Valusoft intends to run with this. Instead they updated their glitchy Prison Tycoon 2 game and released it as Prison Tycoon 3. With so many other fantastic tycoon games on the market, I suggest saving your money and buying a game that's...well...a game.

Well, its certainly not the worst game I have ever played, but its a real shame that I spent 20 bucks on it. It was pretty fun at first, I started up the prison, secured it, and began building. That was somewhat fun too. After everything was set up prisoners started showing up. After about 15 people I started seeing repeat faces on the details of their idenity, over and over again the same faces, that offers zero sense of realism right away. The game is hard to navigate around, the graphics are terrible, and the constant looping of the same corny police radio uttering something I have yet to comprehend is beyond annoying. The game is set up and plays like a game from the mid 90's. Seriously. Not recommended unless you like games that are only fun for like an hour or two.

Well, like most said this game is not at all what it could or should be. I picked it up only because I work in a prison and thought it would be fun.
If my warden has all the problems I encountered trying to run a prison, my heart goes out to the guy!

One major problem with the game is that there is a high learning curve because the manual doesn't go into detail like it should. It took me 4 games before I found out I can close the front gate!...that really helped with keeping folk from escaping! My next surprise was finding out that adding an addition seems to upgrade your prison to the next security level. There is some waiting, but I found alot of my time being spent upgrading my facilities and trying to keep everyone gainfully employed. Even though, I don't schedule any visits or free time for them, my prisoners seem to stay fairly happy. So I would say, keep your prisoners working and eating and that will keep every one busy enough to stay out of trouble.

Also, I can honestly say, prisoners, or guards, or even other staff not doing their jobs is not a computer glich. That happens on a regular basis in the real prison world!

Don't waste your time or money on this one. Very poor navigation, graphics, controls, and any sense of challenge.

It's not bad but gets boring after a while. It says you can make inmates
work on the farm or in a chaingang,i don't think you can. I sit for hours and i can't figure out. On the good side,you can have a male,female,or milatary prison.


I guess you should get this game.
