This game is well worth the $$. With over 105 games (who knew there were that many?) you will never get bored. I was addicted to Spider Solitaire on the PC and now I can play that on the go. So many variations of games! When you click on a game it will show you the layout and the skill level and your chances of winning.
Forget brain games, this works at keeping your mind strong. I highly recommend this one!

I tried this solitaire collection while waiting to get a copy of "Clubhouse Games." I'm 61; female; never played video games in my life & never have been at all interested. My grown sons guffawed at my Nintendo DS purchase. In my defense, I bought it for Brain Age 1&2.... And then thought it would be perfect for long trans-con flights - - if I could find some "adult" kinds of games that didn't involve blowing up cars or hopping across rivers & avoiding alligators.

I was sure that SO would be the answer. It would have a gazillion different solitaire games! Hot doggies! This would be the entire family of the famous game we all play while on telephone hold, right?

Well, sort of.

This software is just ok.

SO suffers most from lack of instructions, which I feel are important, especially since solitaire games are very similar to each other. I finally got out my Hoyle book and another card game book for instructions on how to play these games! (There are no instructions in the dox. Altho there are some onboard for each game, they're pretty obscure. As I said, I got out my Hoyle to help me understand the onboard directions! Really, now, one shouldn't have to consult another source to play the game. Really lacking on the consumer support!)

I'd like to be able to search by game type, but this does not appear to be possible, despite the "search" feature.

"Slider" down R side of screen is so sensitive as to be almost uncontrollable. (If you hate shopping carts that won't steer, you'll hate this failure, too!)

Positives: User may change wallpapers, choose music (including a shuffle option), and change card reverse pic. Resolution is sharp in the wallpapers. The cards themselves are a little hard to read, but it's a very small image!

Still and all, there are a lot of negatives, so I decided to keep looking.

As long as I was hunting again, I decided I wanted something that had more game variety than just solitaire card games (which is why CG had looked so attractive).

If I had known about "TouchMaster," I wouldn't have bothered with SO at all!

TM has plenty of games for the solo player, including several card solitaires. In addition to very good, concise on-screen instructions, there are instructions for each game in the liner notes in the case (yea!) that are well-written and lucid.

Has a wheel-of-fortune type (this has only 6 categories, alas, so repetition happens pretty quickly), word search, etc. Several card games will help you brush up your 11, 13, and 21 addition facts. Some games are strictly chance; others involve varying amounts of skill and strategy. You can read elsewhere in detail about the content.

All games are stylus-activated. A big plus.

I must have spent 6 hours with this software tonight. (Yes, I should have been grinding on my lengthy to-do list, but I just couldn't resist. I'll probably play some more after I finish this review!)

Forget SO. Use your $ for TM. You won't be sorry you passed on SO. Compared to TM, SO is a non-starter. (I can't get the "star" rating to change to a star. What I'd really like is 1/2 a star!) mb

This product was given as a gift to my wife. She played the game on our way to see family on Christmas day. She had fun figuring out how to play and she like the challenge. I am well pleased with the game.

This is just what you'd expect: a big package of solitaire games. Included are most of the very best ones I've come across over the past forty years or so.

The interface works well enough. I can understand some of the complaints others have posted: navigation is a bit awkward and takes a little getting used to; and I've seen inexpensive PC solitaire software that has a lot more bells and whistles than Solitaire Overload (SO). Still, you can get to all the games and enjoy playing them.

The graphics and music are just so-so. I found myself turning the music down because it got annoying; and on another day I might turn it off. But to me, these are just frills. I pop in the cartridge to play solitaire, not to listen to music or look at artwork.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that some games have been tweaked; they don't go by the standard rules I'm familiar with (and I'm pretty knowledgeable about solitaire games, having played them and read books about them for a long while). For instance, in Aces Up, SO provides a special five-card wastepile. I've never seen that before, and it helps tremendously, evening the odds in this otherwise tough-to-win game. In Golf, SO allows you to play queens on kings -- a nonstandard rule that again improves the player's chances. In Pyramid, there's a reserve at the bottom to draw from. Other games I tried were not monkeyed with, however. Yukon and Klondike seem to follow the standard rules.

Speaking of rules, I really don't understand others' complaints about this aspect of the game. I've read several reviews of SO, and they all warn the reader that the instructions are difficult to read or hard to follow. Well, maybe if you've never read any solitaire rules before, and you don't know what a "foundation" or "tableau" is. You might have trouble then. But if you know the jargon, the rules are all right at your fingertips, crystal clear, in black and white. I tried a game of Josephine last night, and since I'd forgotten the rules, I looked them up. It took maybe ten or fifteen seconds to call up the rules, refresh my memory, and get into the game. No problem at all.

One downside of playing solitaire on the DS is the small screen. When you're playing games where the tableau piles get long (e.g., Spider or sometimes Yukon), that part of the layout gets compressed, and then you have to do some clicking to see what all the cards are. It's awkward, but it works. I can't think of any way it could be done better on a screen this size.

Although SO is pretty bare-bones when it comes to features, it does provide all that's needed to enjoy a wide variety of solitaire games on the DS.

This game is full of different variations of the popular card games of solitaire. I play it all the time and have a ball at it. It's great practice if you're an avid skill games fanatic.

I enjoy this game very much. It has a wide variety of solitaire games. It reminds me a lot of a PC game I had years ago called 'riverboat solitaire'. This one has all my favorites.

I have been playing this game every day since I bought it. I love the variety of games within the game. If I get bored with one game, I move on to another one that looks interesting. All in all it was one of the best purchases I have made.

Solitaire Overload for Nintendo DS
Excellent program, easy to use, 101 solitaire games offered, great "how to play" section for each game. New game for the Nintendo DS in 2008. I've spent many hours playing it already. I am very pleased with this product.
In addition, the product came from a vender outside of Amazon.com and the vender sent the game promptly, charged a very small and reasonable shipping and handling charge as well. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the way Amazon.com handled this order.
