Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3

This is simply the best game of the series(in America) so far. It has exactly 42 playable characters and adjustable secret techniques. Once you have all of the characters and have beaten story mode there is still re playability. There is hero's history mode, Narutimate challenge, and plain old one-on-one v.s. mode battles. There are more items, more stages, and more special jutsu than ever! The cut scenes in story mode are also greatly improved. Every single thing about this game is 10 times as better than ultimate ninja 2.Let me explain how to change your characters secret techniques: Depending on the character you choose you can pick your favorite secret techniques for your character to use before you start the battle. For example, when you use Sasuke Uchiha, you get a host of secret techniques to choose from for the level 1, 2, and 3 secret techniques. But with a character like ANBU Kakashi, you only get one secret technique. That ends my review, a great game about a great Anime.

We're finally treated to the third game in the Naruto Ultimate Ninja series on the PS2 in as many years and, boy, is it something. There over 40 playable characters in the game with an option to choose between English and Japanese VO. You can customize your characters with whichever ultimate jutsu you choose, you'll be able to turn some of your favorite characters into more powerful ninja and summon giant creatures as allies to help you in battle, interact with characters residing in the leaf village and accomplish over 55 missions in Ultimate Contest mode, engage in battle royale matches in 20 unique stages using either close combat or ranged weapons. The game itself takes place up to the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. It's definitely a bigger monster to contend with this time around.

Ultimate Contest is the biggest part of UN3 wherein a festival is thrown together by Lady Tsunade for the sake of visitors from the hidden village of Sand. The main event is a battle royal in which each ninja gets a crystal. When ninja fight, the winner gets the loser's crystals. The two who finish with the most crystals get to battle for the right to create a new Hidden Leaf Village regulation. You run around Hidden Leaf Village completing simple quests and challenging other characters to fights, which is somewhat similar to the game Naruto Rise of a Ninja(although UN3 came out long before that game did in Japan so, technically, it thought of the idea first). There are also a handful of minigames you'll be asked to compete in as well.

The game has top-notch production values. The graphics look simply stunning in this game(sometimes making you wonder if this isn't a PS3 game).

There isn't much that can be said bad about this game. Note, much that can be said. Meaning there is a few things that isn't so good. My biggest gripe with the game is the unlockables. Most of them are nothing you hadn't unlocked before in the previous games & that, to me, is disappointing. At least, they should give us a some new content to unlock to make it all the more pleasing to play.

Overall, Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 is a game all Naruto fans should get. It's definitely the best of the series thus far. I'm not sure casual fans would be interested, honestly, not unless they're into anime & manga.

Sadly, I hear this is the last game in the series for the PS2. The series is moving onto the PS3. I do hope & pray they give it alot bigger scope on the system and continue its' success with newer and better content. PSP owners can rejoice, though, as a new game is on the way for the PSP. Look for my review when it hits the shelves.

This game is'nt that good part2 is better.

It was a toss-up between this and the Naruto game for the X-Box 360, so I went with this one, most because this was the 3rd game in a much beloved fighting game series vs a new sandbox game with hit or miss results. I dug this game, not only because I always got a kick out of looking at the over the top ougis/specials on youtube, but simply because of the enormous variety of characters for you to choose from and multiple gameplay options, from the mini sandbox-type quest game (only 1 real area to explore plus several smaller places familiar to Naruto fans) to the story mode to the ever popular vs mode, plus a couple cute little mini-games for you to play (there are only 3 though and it's more fun to play with a friend) and a store where you can unlock music, movies, screencaps from the show, statues, and a whole lot more.

I liked this game a lot, though the controls will take some getting used to. Even if you're not a Naruto fan, it's still a fun fighting game to play with your friends or even alone for all you single player gamers, though I have to admit the appeal of this game skyrockets for fans who'll get a kick out of all the extras and nods from the series and have a friend to reenact famous scenes and fights from the show.

I highly recommend this game.

When I first ordered this game (4 weeks ago) I was ectastic I could finally play it. It got here today. I popped it in the PS2 and BAM!

'Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 game'

now, I retried it, and retried it again, nothing happened. Until I read this was a NTSC U/C game made specifically for that type of playstation 2. Mine is PAL. I was very dissapointed, don't get me wrong, the gameplay looks fantastic - But people outside North America (EG; Australia) I suggest you don't get this game. I suggest when ordering games from this site check your ps2/xbox or whatever you got to see what make it is before buying the game you want. I was very dissapointed because Amazon didn't warn me that it was a different region and asked if I still wanted to order it.

2/5 stars overall, sorry.

I've been watching my friends and family play video games since Atari and the original Nintendo (both of which I still have around here somewhere). I've always thought about getting into gaming myself, but I could just never get the hang of it ... no matter how hard I tried. When I read about Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3, I knew that I would at least get it for my boyfriend to play (and me to watch).

Once I got the game home, having checked out the games official website and reading the book that comes with the game, I actually wanted to give it a try myself ... and I did! The game is a lot of fun and a true treat for any Naruto fan!

Best of the series

Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 makes huge jumps, not just in gameplay but in graphics and content as well.

The story mode for this installment has now been split into 2 different modes both drastically different but both great fun. The "Heros History" mode allows you to play through the main story line of the anime series, although doesn't go into as much detail as Ultimate Ninja 2, but instead goes further through the story mode right up to the Sasuke Retrieval Ark. While theres no way to run around and explore in this game mode there is the brand new addition of Full cutscenes for most fights as opposed to in game graphics bringing more life to the game. The second mode is called "Ultimate Contest" and starts with you being able to freely explore a section of the leaf village and a few other places. The main aim at the beginning of this mode is simply to beat as many people as possible to get their "Crystals" in which you fight different characters from the show but in a more flexible way rather than a linear route. After you complete the contest part of the game you're free to explore the village and do missions.

One of the best additions to this game is the huge selection of characters you now have including almost every single character from the anime and a few extra people like the Hokages. Once you've collected all the characters you end up with over 40 playable characters all with very unique ways of attacking and everyone of them having at least one special move to use, unlike Ultimate Ninja 2 which left some characters without one. Another improvement with the characters is that they now all have their own fighting style instead of one generic style with a few additions, now all character shave a style reminiscent of the anime series.

One of the disappointments for this installment is there hasn't really been any change when it comes to extras, you still to buy cards, music, figurines and pretty much everything else you got in Ultimate Ninja 2. Apart from figurines and videos put in for the new characters it's pretty much redundant and the only really purpose is to complete some of the S-rank missions.

All in all this game is the best in the series and one of the best anime based games out there. Well worth the money and will appeal to Naruto fans and general gamers alike.

9.5/10

Naruto Strikes Again In Yet Another Action-Packed Game!!!

Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 is another great Naruto game. It is the sequel to Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 and the best in the series so far. The storyline is short and easy, but the missions can get very challenging. The graphics are moderately good for a PS2 game and the wide variety of characters is also a plus. If you have a PS3 (like me) you may want to wait to buy (or also buy) Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm.
