This game is awful

This is an awful game. Do not buy it. I bought it and i found myself putting it away after only a day. The gameplay is sluggish and I sugeest if you really want to play it, rent it. A sad sequel to an excellent original game

Can't beat the PS or 64 versions

I know sega, and they cut so many corners, i have the 64 version and it's graphics can't be beat, especialy on high res. The PS version looks great with smooth texture mapping on the PS2. The Dreamcast is a 128 bit system, but it has Nintendo 64 graphics, it looks no better, sometimes a lot worse. It sure can't compeat with the PS2, but some 64 games on high res look close to early PS2's graphics. If you want a 64 bit Sega system, get a Saturn, it has much better graphics than the PS, but not as many games.

Uncontrollable

money down the drain. I have no plans to play this title again, and regret having bought it. The graphics are impressive, but I foundthe controllability to be sorely lacking. Total frustration. Rent before buying this one.

Don't go near this game!!

I am an avid video gamer and there are lots of games that I like, but this is certainly not one of them. I thought that the first game was tons better. 2nd Offence is so much trouble to control the vehicles, that to be honest, it's not really worth it. The graphics just gave me a headache. The only reason why I have this game is that I was able to get it at a serious discount. Please, if you have any sense, don't go near this.....It really is terrible!!

Don't Buy it

... First of all the play control can get really annoying because it's slippery. Second the graphics are better than the ps and n64 versions but there not even close to Dreamcast's full potential. Third the mission objectives are really pointless. Don't buy it or rent it.

Awkward controls, frustrating level endings

This is a good game, don't get me wrong. But there are annoyances that drag down the entire experience. The controls are a little awkward, and there is no way to edit them. you are stuck with a standard controller configuration, making it a little hard to drive at times.

The levels have multiple goals, which need to all be solved. Collecting items and destroying all oponents are two of them. But the level always ends after destroying all oponents, and you fail if you haven't found all the secret items. So you may find yourself searching for hidden items, while constantly under fire. If you defend yourself, the level may end as a failure.

It was a disapointment.

I thought it would be a lot better game than it turned out to be. The cars are new but the levels are repetive and the graphics are also a dissapointment. I reccomend getting the first one. I also recomend that you not get this game!

i dont agree with the other reviews. i was very dissapointed when i purchased this game. although, if u have never played any vigilante 8 games on any platforms this game is a MUST buy. but i dont recomend it to people that have no friends. this is possibly 1 of the best multiplayer games on dreamcast. i have played v8 on n64 & ps. n64 has best versions. ps version [was bad]. dreamcast has best graphics (only the movies after u beat level, original gameplay graphics blow chunks). if u have a n64 and a dreamcast buy the 64 game cuz dreamcast rushed this game into the market. i cant rate this game less than 3 stars cuz vigilante 8 is the best car combat game EVER. i just expected alot more (although, i kinda knew when i bought it cause it was only 19.99. n64 version was 59.99) but like i said if u never played vigilante 8 version 1 or 2 on any platforms i guarantee u will love this game.

for the dreamcast

Vigialnte 8 would have been a fun game if it weren't for two things: Crazy Taxi and, more importantly, Grand Theft Auto. Basically you have 18 vehicles that run around trying to destroy each other--everything from a motorcycle (with sidecar) to a bus to a moon vehicle to a dump truck (and I found the dump truck to be the best). It really is a fun game, but after playing Crazy Taxi and Grand Theft Auto, it doesn't stack up. The control isn't as great nor is there any story to it. It gets boring rather quickly, but only because I've played similar games that are a lot more fun. I wouldn't go out and buy it, but if you don't have any of the better games, then I'd say keep it. At least until you upgrade you system.

Same as the original Vigilante 8 on PS

In the first ten minutes when I played Vigilante 8 2nd offense, I thought I was playing the original Vigilante 8 on PS. Although the fun factor is still there, I am disappoint with the control on DC version. There are no enough buttons on DC controller to rotate the camera view angle. The graphic is also substadard compare to Soul Calibur. The game looked like was rushed to the market without taking adventage of DC's power. Buttom line: if you have the Vigilante 8 on PS, skip Vigilante 8 2nd on DC.
