Geez, I hafta admit, at first, I was a little reluctant to buy this game. I had read many reviews, and some of them did not have inticing results. But, me being a fan of Die Hard Arcade, Streets of Rage, etc. I decided to take a risk and buy it anyway. Boy, was I surprised. The graphics are awesome, with great explosion effects and menacing bosses. There is an almost perfect variety of weapons, such as flamethrowers, shotguns, a drill, grenades, and my personal favorite, dual-handguns. There is even guns concealed inside guitar cases, a la Desperado. There is a nice variety of moves too. Players can pull off combos and throws easily. You can even charge gun/hand attacks. One of my favorite parts about the game is a peticular situation where you press the fire button as you are being knocked down. This results in your character (there are 3 selectable) shooting as he falls to the ground. VERY cool. My only complaint about this game is that it is rather short, and can get repetative, but I found myself playing it over and over again. Factors that will increase replay value are a two-player game, a boss mode, a fighting mode, and a training mode, where you may strenghthen a zombie via VMU. Fans of the genre should stop reading this review and buy this game....right now. Others should atleast give it a rental, it is a game that will not be soon forgotten.

An Ok game

This game was cool, the vmu mini game was fun but it got old really fast. It seemed to me to be a little to easy after a while. You can only beat a game so many times until it becomes repetitious. The other options in the game while being inventive, where not much fun. The crude version of a fighting game was very weak. But i played the arcade version also, and this game is a direct translation which is very cool. But after a while it became very boring.

A gaming high while it lasts!

When I popped in Zombie Revenge, I turned out the lights and turned up the surround sound, and got prepared for a ride on the scary bus. This game has awesome graphics, and it turns out my inhibitions were correct, this game is scary. Think Resident Evil with better lighting, yeah. But the pace is much faster and it is a lot more fun. But every time I play, I get to a point that is impossible to beat. You will love this game, but you will die on any more than the very easy level setting.

Fun but sometimes frustrating

I got this game last year but I did not have a Dreamcast. Now that I finally got one I got to say this game is pretty good. But it is very hard.I can usually beat a game within 2weeks but this one is different.I got to the last level and got killed 3 times.I was a little frustrated because all my credits were gone and I could not finish.I like the game play and it has pretty good graphics for DC.I will finish this game sometime when I have the energy to deal with the frustration.

Eh this game is alright. When I first bought it I liked it alot. But over time playing it it really aint that great. One thing that really really was horrible was that you couldnt save the game. So you had to get lives, then play from the beggining each time to see how far that you could get. Which in that case, I never beat the game. I got to the house or so, I dont remember that good, but thats it. I never beat the game. Even in 2 player mode. The game was alright graphics, not bad. Sound is alright. Gameplay is cool at times. Recommended? Maybe, but not worth that much money at all. Its got its pro's but also has a lot of cons in it. Its frustrating at times also.

This game is the new resident evil

If you dont know what this game is, its a mix between resident evil and fighting force. You beat zombies by punching and kicking, and if you find guns you can use those too. This is a great game from start to finish.

not bad game

If you like Resident evil titles, you will like this game but this isn't that good DC game. I don't think this is good graphic game. It's just decent game for DC or Arcade. anyway.. overall is pretty good game but if you have chance to rent this game, you should do that first.

Zombie Revenge will certainly please a certain type of gamer, the type that just wants to sit down and go. But those looking for depth or great rewards will be disappointed by Revenge's lack of anything substantial over a one-week period. True, the graphics are pretty good, mimicking the arcade game of the same name, and some of the bosses, particularly the large Zombie hanging over the side of the building and trying to crush you with his hands, are creepy as heck. But the gameplay is off, not offering enough variety or tricks to keep you playing, and the two-player mode is dullsville. I suppose if you need a quick fix and you're too lazy to pull out the light guns for House of the Dead 2, Zombie Revenge should suit you, but others should go with a rental, you'll probably get the same out of the game as the buyers do.

So fun its scary.

One of the things i like most about this game is that you dont have to spend hours looking for keys, or more hours trying to solf stupid puzzles. You pop the game in your dreamcast and the action is immediate.the game is just what it looks like, you walk around shooting and beating up zombies and huge awesome looking bosses in streets, sewers, on top of trains, and other really cool environments. Also, this game is just so fun to play with a friend. Also there are mini games for your vmu to download, and several different modes of play.As you beat the game you unlock more secrets. All in all, splattering zombies has never been so fun.

Zombie Revenge got slaughtered in many reviews by games websites and magazines, but I think it's a game worth getting...although it is often very frustrating to play. Basically, you play as one of three characters, and your job is to fight your way through various levels filled with zombies and monsters, in what I think can be descibed as a 3-D scrolling beat 'em up. Each section is short but packed with enemies - there's no time to admire the scenery, you must simply destroy everything onscreen with either your fists or with long range firepower, and then move on to the next one before a timer runs out. This sounds repetitive, but in reality, it's not as bad as it might sound. Firstly, as in most Dreamcast games, the graphics are amazing. All the characters look great and move realistically. Every location is incredibly detailed and atmospheric, and some of the bosses are the most bizarre monsters you have ever seen...check out the Slime boss! Secondly, there are lots of moves for your characters to pull off, and many different weapons lying around that can be used. OK, so some fans of beat 'em up games will find the moves repertoire a little short, but using the flamethrower or the giant drill on a Zombie is a real show-stopping effect - show your friends!

The game is also REALLY difficult...or is that just me? I found myself using up all my continues many times before reaching the end, until practise and perseverance paid off. Most of the difficulty comes from the rather poor implementation of the various moves, most notably the fact that "guard" and "dash" are assigned to the same button, which is a real pain when you need to make lightning fast decisions to escape from dangerous enemies. Another example is that both the attack buttons also serve as the "pick up an item off the floor" buttons when you are standing near a dropped weapon (which may be a one you don't want), and I often found my poor character doing this when I actually intended them to fire their gun at a zombie who was right on top of them - this proved to be the death of me several playthroughs, but it's unavoidable and excruciatingly annoying. The response time of the characters reactions on screen to your button pounding is also far too slow, but to be honest, these drawbacks do not ruin the game completely, rather they require that you play with more care and observe carefully what is happening onscreen at all times - so get a large television for this one and play cautiously rather than rashly! You'll seldom find the on-screen timer a problem after a bit of experience.

You can't save your progress at any time, you either make it through or die trying - but to be fair, this would complertely remove the challenge. You can save after beating the game, though, and apart from the sheer relief, it's worth beating the game so that you can change the blood colour to red (now watch that drill in action again - yeucchh!), and for frustrated battlers, you can also select infinite time and level select in Original mode. Although all subsequent replays will be essentially the same game, you will want to experiment with different characters and the effectivity of different combo moves, or deciding which weapons to use and when. There are hidden rooms and secret items that you may not find on your first attempts. Plus, you can learn the way the enemies attack, some of them wander about picking up weapons to use against you, if you don't get there first! It's these little touches that make this game so much fun to play. I rented it first, and then bought it, and am still playing it now.
